Adventurer's Guild Sky Archipelago - Reception Desk
+ + +

Introduction

You've completed a quest already? So fast! Well, let's get started with the reception desk.
First, I would like you to fill out a Quest Report. A quest report is a narrative about how you accomplished the objectives of your quest. Normally, this is just a chapter of your story posted on the Main Site.
Once you've completed a Quest Report, you should post a link to your chapter in this thread and wait for someone to evaluate it. Unfortunately, the Guild is extremely understaffed and we don't employ many receptionists. We rely on peer review to evaluate quest reports. Anybody can evaluate a quest report, but you can't evaluate your own!
The evaluator gets to decide the rewards!

Quest Report Guidelines
  • General Guidelines:
    • Quote/Link/Copy the quest that you picked at the top of the page so it is easy for the evaluator to reference it.
    • Quest Reports shouldn't be longer than one chapter. If you wrote a lot, try your best to keep it all on the same page.
    • Please remember that the evaluator may not have read your entire story. The chapter and your character sheet should contain all information necessary for the evaluator to assess your quest.
    • If you wrote a very long chapter, please include a summary at the end.
  • Tagging someone to evaluate your quest is recommended, but optional.
  • Once your quest is evaluated, edit your forum post so that it's clear it was assessed already.
  • Please follow ScribbleHub content guidelines and forum rules:
    • Please warn readers about sensitive content (e.g. gore / sexual content / strong language).
    • Pornographic stories — specifically porn without plot (PWP) — are prohibited per SH gudelines. If desired, please take it to PMs.
    • Age of consent is 18+ per SH gudelines.
    • Illegal sex acts — stories encouraging bestiality or necrophilia — are prohibited per SH guidelines.
    • Stories encouraging nonconsensual sexual content — are prohibited per SH guidelines.

Evaluation Guidelines
  1. Reread the quest description and objectives.
  2. Imagine yourself in the position of the "sponsor" who issued the quest.
  3. Consider if:
    • The objectives of the quest were performed satisfactorily.
    • The quest report is plausible (e.g. the character didn't "fake" or "lie" about something in their quest report).
    • There was any collateral damage.
    • The character demonstrated growth.
  4. Decide on a reward... or none at all!
  5. Remind the player to mark their quest report post as evaluated.
  6. Leave a comment!

Evaluator Salary
  • As a slight incentive to encourage people to evaluate reports, the Adventurer's Guild will pay a small sum for each post evaluated.
  • For each post evaluated, you can collect:
    • Money: 5 cp / post

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Is there a special format I need to follow for quest reports?

No, you can write your quest report in any style or format. There is also no minimum or maximum word count.
Writing with proper paragraphs, grammar, and clear sentences makes it much easier for the receptionist to read.
Please remember to quote/copy/link the original quest and include a link to your character profile in your forum signature.

Q: Where can I find the lore of this world?

The Newsletter thread contains summaries of previous weeks and is considered canon. The Library is a wiki that contains information about various topics in the universe. You can also visit the ButterflyCh and ask if anyone has a map or information about a certain place.
Lore in this game is largely crowdsourced and majority rule. If many quest reports filed by different characters/players agree on something, then we assume that it is probably true.
"Probably" is emphasized because there's a possibility that anything you find in on the Newsletter could be wrong. We like to pretend that every quest report is filled with unverifiable information, and no single individual is able to determine the lore of the universe by themselves. Your character shouldn't blindly trust everything that they read. What if a different adventurer was just dreaming or eating hallucinogenic mushrooms when they filed the report?
You won't know what's actually real until you go out there and see it yourself, right?

Q: Can I make up something totally new and random?

Adventurer's Guild has an additive worldbuilding rule, which means it is almost always okay to add something the world as long as it doesn't attempt to restrict something else in the world.
  • Good: My character walked through the forest and found an abandoned hut. Inside, there was a nice goblin who asked if I was lost.
  • Bad: My character is an expert about this fantasy world. It is unequivocally true that all goblins are evil and there are no good goblins.
  • Okay: My character spoke to a villager, and the villager said that all goblins were bad, and people should kill all goblins.
As long as you write with additive worldbuilding practices, you can pretty much write anything!
That said, you should probably avoid "breaking" the setting.
It would be a good idea to check with others in the OOC Room before attempting something like:
  • Discovering a giant horde of world-ending demons in the sewers of Sky Harbor.
  • Discovering a motherload of adamantium and uranium in the capital of the Archipelago.
  • Finding a fountain in Villager A's bathtub that magically makes you invincible overnight.
  • Creating an infinite-mana teleportation gate in Sky Harbor that magically lets you teleport to the final boss.
In other words, please apply the common sense rule. Read the quest board for the location carefully, and avoid doing things that obviously break common sense for the local area. Sky Harbor is a beginner area and a relatively safe place, so please keep it that way!
That said, it's totally okay to have crazy plot developments — but make sure you have agreement with the community of players first.

Q: How do I do a party quest?

To do a party quest, get together with another player and plan how your characters will tackle the quest together. In the end, you will only submit one quest report for the entire party.
There are multiple ways to do this. Any of these strategies are okay.
  • Some players RP the entire quest in the Freestyle Room and then summarize it into a report.
  • Other players jointly write the quest report in Google Docs.
Depending on the quest details, the receptionist may choose to duplicate the award for each quest member or split it. It depends on the circumstances of each quest.

EDIT: Evaluated

It looks like I'll be filing the first quest report?

So what news do you have for me?
  • Sponsor: Adventurer's Guild
  • Location: Anywhere
  • Prerequisites: n/a
  • Discover something interesting
  • Obtain some form of proof
Information is a valuable commodity, and secrets are precious.
Did you hear something interesting? Eavesdrop on some gossip?
Tell me what news you bear, traveler, and perhaps we'll pay you if it's worthwhile.

Here is the quest report link.

Summary:
  • Immediately after the earthquake, Lucia went to the Adventurer's Guild communications office.
  • Her shift supervisor, Watson, instructed her to deliver a telephone conch to the Harbormaster, in order to re-establish communications.
  • Lucia rode an air taxi (a flying bison) to the Harbormaster's office, which was on fire.
  • The Harbormaster told her that Sky Archipelago no longer has access to its old trade networks, and various commodities and food items (like fish), won't be stocked in grocery stores anymore unless new sources can be established.
  • The Harbormaster requested the Adventurer's Guild to locate more food sources in order to avoid a famine.

Ordinarily, anyone can evaluate quests, but I'll do this one today as an example!

Honestly, evaluators can give whatever they want as a reward, but I typically think about it in relation with how much the character would typically earn on an average day. The cost of living on Sky Archipelago is about 2 SP per day, so I'll probably choose a reward relative to the character's typical income. Since Lucia is a guild receptionist, she doesn't earn very much every day.

I also like to toss something random in too. Maybe the player will find something interesting to do with it in the future.

-------

Quest Evaluation

It looks like you had a busy day, Lucia-chan! This sounds like very important information... thanks for submitting this to the guild! I hope the air taxi didn't completely empty your wallet.

Did you actually walk all the way back to the guild office though? It seems like the report ends before you traveled all the way back... Oh well... I'll let you off this time! But I'll warn you! We're watching you carefully! Slackers are no good! :blob_hmph:

Rewards:
  • 10 SP
  • A free coupon to visit a public bath
-------

Please make your quest report post as evaluated.

You might also want to add the things you discovered to the Newsletter and Library so that other people know about it.

It would also be a good idea to add some new quests based on your discoveries to the Quest Board so that other people can pursue it.

  • Assist with repairing Sky Harbor
  • Rescue any survivors that you find
That earthquake... so many buildings collapsed!
We need the clear the rubble... that was my favorite pizzeria... but it's gone now.. :c

2 l Repairing The Damage

Summary:
  • After accepting her quest, Tristan made her way back to the main thoroughfare to help the few carpenters helping make the repairs on the buildings.
  • Frixio, one of the few carpenters who told her about the adventurer’s guild, had been fixing one of the roof’s to the blacksmith’s shop.
  • Tristan climbed up, helping repair the four other holes that needed to be done, when Frixio drew her attention to another area in the distance. There was a sparkling light that kept coming and going.
  • Tristan remembered the quest, and assumed it might be someone in trouble. She slid off via the ladder and Frixio shortly joined her, showing her some quick routes through the alleys.
  • When they came to the collapsed building, she and Frixio found themselves pulling rubble aside. After a few more moments of pulling, they discovered a man and woman. They were both injured. Tristan hoped her magic from her previous life would work in this realm, and did her best to heal the man’s broken leg. Her Cure Wounds’ spell worked, mending the bone. She knew the limits of her magic, and decided to give first aid to the woman by wrapping her hands.
  • They continued to clean and organize the rubble, finding 4 more people in their work.
  • Tristan made sure to note a possible custom quest for further clean up and disposal of all useless materials deemed unsalvagable.

Welcome to the Guild, Miss Tristan! It's wonderful to see that you're diving right in and doing so well! By any chance could you be a foreigner? To be honest, I could barely notice. It looks like you fit right in! The Adventurer's Guild offers a financial aid package to new individuals arriving in our world. I hope this can be useful for you! Please let me know if you need any additional assistance or have any questions!

Healing magic is very useful! If you need to find work, perhaps there is a local hospital or clinic that would be willing to hire you. At the same time, you also seem very skilled with your hands, so perhaps there's something better you can do with your talents! There are rumors that some of the merchant companies lost many of their airships, so they might be looking to hire engineers and craftsmen too~

Best wishes and good luck out there! Stay safe!

Rewards:
  • 100 GP - Financial Aid Package - Zero interest loan (no rush to repay it -- staying alive comes first!)
  • 7-day meal voucher at any bar affiliated with the guild

The local hospital is running low on medicine and surgical supplies...
Please! Can you help us find some medicine? Or maybe bring us more healers?
I don't care where you find them! As long as you bring more, it counts!

Summary:
What is better than delivering medical supplies and finding healers? Being a healer willing to break out their own stock of supplies, of course!

Welcome to the back to the guild, Eochaidh! Is that how you pronounce it? Ee-oh-kai-deh? The Adventurer's Guild is really lucky to have you. You should really write a textbook on herbalism someday! The guild library could really use it. Of course, it looks like you're incredibly busy, and I'm sure you have so many things to do.

Feel free to post a herb request on the Quest Board! As usual, we're understaffed, and hopefully someone will head out to go harvest some. Incidentally, someone left a bunch of empty potion bottles with us, and I'm sure you can make better use of it than anyone else.

Thanks for checking in with us~

Bio
NameGargan Kiri
Age26
RaceAarakocra
OccupationExplorer
GoalExplore the New World, duh!
Appearance
Garga is an Aarakocra, or humanoid birdfolk, of the falcon clan, and his brownish-white plumage showed it. As an Aarakocra, Garga prided himself on his beautiful and rather large pair of wings. As an explorer, he prided on its ruggedness and his unusually thick layers of feathers. For an Aarakocra, Gargan is tall, very tall, standing at 6ft, and his wingspan is an impressive 26ft long, tip to tip. What distinguishes the mist, however, is Gargan’s talons, which each have four gigantic claws that are capable of picking up a grown man with ease. Each of his feet could comfortably be wrapped around a grown man's torso too.

Maybe because he has been away from his nest for years now, Gargan has adopted a more ‘civilized’ fashion, not that he thought their clan’s apparel was barbaric. He thought it was tribal, and if anything else, it is quite tasteful too, as he still keeps a small pendant of his clan hanging on his leather belt, consisting of a wire wrapped piece of amethyst and a couple of feathers of his clansmen. His clothes are simple, as he only has a thick woven tunic and trouser underneath, a long coat of thick gambeson both as armor and for warmth, and a hardened leather cuirass on top. Lastly, he also sported a pair of braces.
Skills
Swordsmanship (Adept): Due to the aerial art of bladed combat that is unique to the aarakocra, and the rarity of it among the more humanoids races, Gargan has found that he is virtually undefeated with his swordsmanship. Against another aarokocra however, he will struggle, as he isn’t as practiced as them, due to his tendency to avoid conflicts.
[The Aarokocra’s swordsman is much different to the land-bounded races, as they do not hold their blades with their hand, but with their feet, which offer a much stronger grip and thus, heavier weapons. Also, due to their anatomy, they can not swing a sword effectively due to their wings, and while airborne, could affect their flight. Their art of the blade pretty much involved aerial jousting, fly-by slashing and diving slashes. Never confront an aarakocra in an open field!]

Survival (Expert): Due to his occupation, Gargan can pretty much survive in the wilderness almost everywhere, and he has a vast well of knowledge involving hunting, fishing, field cooking, harvesting, scouting, camping, first aid, and navigation.

Scouting (Expert): This one is very much explanatory, isn’t it? Oh, right, his falcon eyes can see much much farther than normal human eyes, allowing him to view the land from up high in clear detail!

Hydromancer (Beginner): He is not very experienced with magic, as he spends most of the time on the road and avoiding conflicts. In fact, he only knows one offensive spell, Water Bolts, and mostly uses his magic in a more utilitarian way, like creating water for drinking or washing. Or to summon a layer of mist to screen his retreat.
Inventory
2 Set of clothes (tunic and trouser)
1 Thick gambeson
1 Hardened leather cuirass (his biking jacket!)
1 Aarakocra blade (Similar in size with a zweihandler, but with a much longer handle)
2 Knives (one for heavy duty chopping, one for skinning and cooking)
Compass
Papers
String ruler
Ink and barely written notebook
His clan’s pendant and charm.
Personality
Unlike most peers his age, the aarakocra is timid. Not shy, but just timid and tends to keep things to himself. Oh, but he isn’t the cold iron shell of a loner. More than anything else, it just took him a little longer to get comfortable with people. And his fuse is quite short too, if someone ever badmouths his clan’s pendants, or touches his wings without his permission. Beside those occasions however, he prefers to keep his word to himself, and many others would describe him as a calm, dependable guy who preferred to keep things non confrontational.

Oh, even though he is of the raptor family, he is very scared of rats. Giant rats to be more exact, but their smaller cousins still made his plum stand upright, especially in damp, dark caves. And blizzards. And maybe extroverts too…. They intimidated him.
Backstory
Gargan Kiri is the third of his clutch, and thus is not expected to become a warrior for his clan, a joyless and bloody task that he would like to stay away from, especially with his war-loving clan of his. But, while not expected to become one, he was very much trained in the way of the sword like his older brothers and sisters, and is quite adept at it. At the age of 15, he made one of the least choices and left the mountain range, wanting to explore the world.

“What does the Plain of Beasts have to offer? How large are the Forests of the Elves? The Dwelling of Man? There is more to this boring, rocky and blood-soaked mountain!”

For 11 years, he explored much of the known world, visiting the famed Imperial Capital of man, to the Root of the World Tree deep within the Elven Scared Forest, to the Mobile Fortress of the Dwarves. Now he set out to discover the mythical Dimension Rift, a strange magical phenomenon that connected worlds and realms together.

One his last journey, following an unconfirmed rumor, he arrived at a mountain range known for their hundreds of wyverns’ nests. A gamble, a dangerous game, but if it was true, his dream would come true!

And it did, but with the unwelcome help of a pair of hungry and pissed wyvern, Gargan and the couple engaged in an airborne high speed chase. It almost cost him his wing, but he was able to narrowly escape, driving through a Dimensional Rift. “The rumor is true!”

And that is how Gargan Kiri the fearless explorer finds himself staring at Sky Archipelago, a cluster of countless islands floating just below the lowest batches of cloud.

Quest Evaluation
What great news! I'm sure the Harbormaster will be thrilled to hear that there is an abundant amount of fish in the Lower World! The dehydrated fish is perfectly acceptable. That's a very a pretty map by the way -- by any chance would you be an artist? I'm sure many merchant guilds would be willing to pay good coin for some skilled cartography and quality maps.

I have a question about this Great Lake region -- is it completely uninhabited? Are we allowed to waltz in and fish as much as we want, or will someone be angered by such actions? It would be rather tricky if this area was claimed by some locals, and we wouldn't want to accidentally offend anyone. Moreover, it would be good idea to search this region very carefully for any hostile creatures or environmental hazards. Will any form of armed escort or military presence be needed for any fishing operations, or can they go completely undefended?

Don't feel pressured to find the answers to these questions yourself, unless you want to personally investigate it! You can always post additional assignments on the Quest Board, and somebody might get around to doing it.

...My goodness, what am I even saying? I got so carried away. I'm already talking to you as if you're a veteran adventurer.

You're new here, aren't you? Welcome to Sky Archipelago! Please help yourself to our financial aid package for foreigners. There are a number of inns and taverns... although I'm not sure how many are open after the recent earthquake. You know what? How about I write a letter for you. There's an acquaintance of mine who lives in the city, and I'm sure they would be willing to let you stay with them for a night. There's no need to be reserved -- I'll bonk them on the head or something, since they owe me a favor anyways. They would be happy to host you!

Rewards:
  • 100 GP - Financial Aid Package - Zero interest loan (no rush to repay it -- staying alive comes first!)
  • 20 SP - Bonus payment for the map
  • A letter of introduction - Allows you to live with Lucia's contact for a night or two (if desired)

A distress call...?
  • Sponsor: A frantic spouse
  • Location: Sky Archipelago
  • Prerequisites: n/a
  • Search for the missing airship.
  • Determine if the spouse survived.
Please! You need to help me! My spouse was on an airship when the Archipelago isekai'd.
I know a lot of people say I should give up... but I'm 100% sure they're alive!
They're out there somewhere! Drifting on a life raft... I'm absolutely sure of it!
The voice in my heart is never wrong! Please, you have to save them!
Summary:

After accepting the quest, i went to the Adventurer's Guild communications to find more information regarding to the quest. (My quest supervisor, Goober turns out to be friendly despite of his intimidating presence). Then i went to adventurer's shop to stock some rations and some healing potions which costs me 10 G. Feeling that i'm ready to go, i went to the direction instructed by Goober with my cool teleporting skill.... actually it's more of a blink through my daggers.

Turns out it's far north from the guildhouse. I passed through several villages and stayed in 2 of them. The villages where i stayed are called Versteckt and Valrose Ait. It's a little bit creepy at night but the villagers of both villages are friendly, i would rate it 7.6/10. I found the spaceship in the middle of waterfall circles with a relatively big forest in the middle of it. Apparently, the ship was named enterprise (mainstream name, i know) and there's still part of the ship intact that could be salvaged. I took the artifact of the ship as proof.
images (2).jpeg

Good news for the spouse here since i found their soulmate barely survived at that forest, there's wild beasts here and there so it's quite surprising finding them there-- no offense. She's VERY VERY VERY cautious and pissed off that she almost killed me the first time we met so i made them faint and tie them up.

After all of that, i went back to the guild as fast as i can. It took 2 days faster than when i'm searching for the ship, mainly because i remembered my way since i travelled for a long time and only stopped once to stay for the night.

P.S. their spouse is very loud and annoying even if i treat her as gently as i can so i expect compensation for my ears and patience

I’ll be taking this evaluation! ((We talked about this over DM’s — we’ll be allowing quest reports in AGv3’s format, so it’s okay to submit quest reports without a story on the main site)).

Hello! Welcome back to the guild! I don’t seem to recognize you, but I can’t tell if you’re a foreigner or not. >.< Well, you look like you know what you’re doing, so I guess you must have been here for a while!

That’s a… really interesting artifact that you have there. What is a “spaceship” by the way? Is it like an “airship”? This construction material is very peculiar.

I’m glad that you found the spouse! The quest sponsor is sure to be very happy! I uh… send my sympathies about your loud companion… although we don’t have a specific reward tiers for loud compassions…

In either case good work!

Rewards:
  • 10 SP
  • A letter from the guild kindly requesting spouse to provide a gift

If you help them out with their affairs, it's kind of like free advertising, right?

First Quest
Second Quest
Summary:

Hello, I am new here and I don't know where I am. I talk to the receptionist about my circumstances and she told me that I'm a foreigner of this world? I think I know what she says since I've seen so many things I thought only existed in my village but after registering, she provided me to take out a request and do a job? And here is my report.

Opting to collect information on my surroundings, I decide to help in any way I can however due to the severe lack of physical strength, I decided to opt for repairing stuff up with my skills and figure out how my knowledge would come in handy in this place.

My wooden doll seem to be quite powerful in regards to physical work and any other magic related work. However, due to the cracks and a missing part, while at that, it seems that the runes placed inside it are still a mysterious and incomplete, I decided to disregard any works that may involve my doll.

Fortunately, I had found out two jobs that let me work for a few coins and letting me showcase a bit of my skills as One of the place is an pharmacist and the other was a simple repairing job.

Ms. Lisha offered me a job where I could clean up her shop while organizing her potions and herbs which sounds simple enough due to my knowledge in helping out my village's healer when it comes to brewing and mixing herbs. However, I find it odd that some of the tools you work here are quite.... outdated?

.... Nevermind please disregard the last sentence.

As for the second work, I helped out a mechanic named Rook who seems to have a problem with a device he's working on and after telling him what his problems were, he felt a so grateful for what I did but I only did the basic thing a mechanic would do. I was just only stating the problem regarding how he wasted so much materials on the circuits which had overloaded the mana core inside the device that it could have explode if he put too much pressure on the mana core. The rune scripture is something too advance for me to understand but I feel like its rearrange a bit? Sorry, since my knowledge in this world's runes is a bit lacking.

Anyways, these lower beings-I mean fellow civilians have been provided information as to how they could contact any more help, I have advertise the guild in the quest.

The world is a big place, and we'll need to map it out sooner or later.Did you find someplace dangerous? Valuable? Another town or village?Perhaps a natural resource or a noteworthy landmark?
A small basket with a balloon made of leaves and a fire lit underneath slowly drifts into the guild, the fire extinguishing just as the basket lands on the receptionist counter. Looking inside the basket, there were some plants and a letter. The letter read, "The herbs here are for Eochaidh O'Byrnei. As for my whereabouts in relation to the quest, I traveled to the west and found a city among some plains, and then headed due south to find a river."

Anyways, it's uhh... very courageous of you to jump off of the islands. I would be terrified out of my wits! >.<

The news about the city gives me mixed feelings. It's nice to know there's another civilization nearby, but it looks like they might be hostile... I suppose we wouldn't know for sure without more quest reports! We should send people to investigate!

A man comes delivering a stack of papers to the counter, none of which are his.

One of which is a letter that reads as such:

We have received the quest and departed on the same day, headed westward, then southward. On the first site, we spent a day working and helping set up one single bridge as practice and ended the day. On the second day, we divided ourselves in groups and those groups worked separately so that we may finish quicker and we did by the sunset. And then we departed.
On the second site we spent less time, much thanks to the help of the locals. And we did finish it by a day's time and immediately sailed forth, resting onboard.
And on the third site we spent less than a day before setting up the bridge.

Signed, Ascalio S. A. L. A. V. N. L. dF. F. il Rosso Tercio

The remaining are written reports, signed by the local administration, confirming that the bridges were indeed repaired.

And lastly a note that reads as follows:
Due to the personal nature of one of the sites added to the repair route, this report should have its payout partially or completely docked.

Quest Evaluation:
Looking at the submitted report, I am glad to see that at least some our bridges are being actively repairs. Due to the Worldshift, and the surges in the demand of airships allocated to explore the unknow Lower World, we certainly could used those bridges for less urgent travel and shorter trips.

Now, looking at your comment, Sorge, I do agree that the payment should be lessen due to personal interest, but I afraid that without further evident of the abused of guild manpower for personal gain, I couldn't do anything about this, and perhaps this personal interest of Sir Ascalio Severo Alberano Lionello Alfonso Verano di Nagranto Lepanto della Fredda Fenice il Rosso Tercio could benefices the local and quicken the reconnection of our islands.

However Sir Ascalio Severo Alberano Lionello Alfonso Verano di Nagranto Lepanto della Fredda Fenice il Rosso Tercio, I will have to issue you a warning next time, as well as reduced pay if you are to continue using the guild's manpower for your personal gain.

Sincerely,
