Zombo - Level 3 | (670/1200) EXP | No Rank
After dropping the injured person off at the temple, and ensuring that there was a healer by their side to treat their injuries, Zombo wandered back through the city for more things he could help with. Whilst he was escorting some more of the wounded back to the temple and healing quarters, he was told of a mix of good and bad news. Sewer slimes had begun attacking from below the city and the Southern Wall had been breached, meaning that the city was effectively fighting on two fronts. However, the leader of the slimes and the formidable Purple Mouth had been defeated, making the slime horde more disorderly and reckless. The most recent news included the successful rescue of a group of stranded soldiers and the call for able-bodied people to help barricade the sewers until the raid ends.
Deciding to quickly go help with the latter, he dropped off the injured who thanked him profusely, before heading towards one of the sewer entrances he knew of close-by. Messily half-built up with a bunch of rubble and debris from fallen buildings, the barricade was a bit of a mess at the moment, and not particularly stable. It still seemed to deter the sewer slimes though, considering the sheer amount of rubbish placed in their way.
After a moment of thought, Zombo unwrapped a layer of the bark and plantlife infesting his body, cutting away his flesh calmly since he didn't feel pain at all. Throwing it onto the barricade, the vines and flora quickly spread out like a web, reinforcing and stabilizing a small area of the barricade. He went through this process a couple of times until his body appeared nearly human.
Although it was gruesome to watch, particularly for the more innocent and naive civilians of Scribel City, they understood that he was sacrificing himself for the safety of the city. Hence they patted him on the back tiredly as thanks as they finished up the barricade for this entrance to the sewers.
After losing a lot of his overgrown flora, Zombo was abruptly struck with a terrible hunger, making his eyes bloodshot as he struggled to not devour the nearest living being beside him. Noticing their new teammate's strange situation, one of the first wounded soldiers he saved earlier in the day approached him with a giant rat in his hands.
"E-Erm, I read your adventurer's guild profile after you saved me, w-will this help?" He asked politely and respectfully, though his fear of him was still clear as day.
Without a word, Zombo snatched the giant rat from the guard and dashed into an alleyway, recovering his sanity by satiating his hunger. Strangely, as calm and emotionless as he usually was, the image of the soldier's fearful face remained imprinted in his mind, giving him a vague sense of loneliness.
