A lot of classic western fantasy has farmers rising up to be heroes. it's a classic "rags to riches" tale, which is why I don't think you see much of it anymore. Farmers had their day in the sun, now is the age of God King Emperors and Heroes with cellphones

Honestly sometimes I just drop stories because I get tired of the genre. Like... sometimes I'm *too into* a particular genre and I start reading like 30 stories that fit that genre/theme... but once I get tired of it, well now I have 30 stories of a concept I'm not really into anymore. So...

I'm not the primary breadwinner for my household or anything, so I think $1,000/month would be just enough for full time. Though I would probably keep a part time job even at that amount just to be safe. Better to build savings you don't need than to end up with a bill you can't pay.

5-10 pages of notes. Though I normally continue to expand and refine my notes as a story matures. I don't wait till I know everything before I start writing, otherwise a project just stalls and I lose the desire to write it.
