Extremely helpful! Thank you. I don't think you should be ashamed of the MC's internal conflict eluding you. There has been a struggle for me while writing short stories of giving too little information and assuming the reader would infer what I think of with the information I give. This was...

    Feedback + suggestions (Closed)

Would you please give a thorough review of my short story? Btw the whole "novel" is basically a collection of short stories which have no connection to each other. So, just read the chapter of the link I sent you. https://www.scribblehub.com/read/328355-cgrs-weekly-short/chapter/357099/

I can predict whether your story will become popular or not

Thanks! I now see more clearly what you mean by those things. This has helped me a lot in how I view action scenes. Also with my use of I, I looked back and saw that I did begin to go overboard at the end and a bit in the beginning.

I can predict whether your story will become popular or not

I'm not mainly looking for a review of if my novel will be popular or not. I just want some feedback on my latest short story. What can I do to make it better? I do know that some of the action scenes and transition to new scenes as a whole were messy. Some of the descriptions could've flowed...

Writing [Tutorial] The Secret to Proper Paragraphing and Dialogue

Idk why I am typing this but it irks me whenever I have something and I need to get it out. If you ever feel that OokamiKasumi's advice to kill dialogue tags is awful and decide to not change and always use said. Then at least change up which dialogue tag you use. There are, in fact, tons of...

Writing [Tutorial] Writing ACTION 2: The Plug & Play Method

I feel like my past writing attempt was personally attacked in this tutorial. Good thing that after a day of sleeping on it. I do agree that beating that thing to death was a correct choice. This is extremely helpful and seeing these tutorials always motivates me to write more!

Writing [Tutorial] The Secret to Proper Paragraphing and Dialogue

TLDR: I don’t know why this discussion turned into web novel style v professional style. Or gatekeeping, like a statement of this is how you should write it! This is my common sense that one should know the best of both worlds. A lot of people are misunderstanding the “rules” that professionals...

Writing [Tutorial] The Secret to Proper Paragraphing and Dialogue

This was what I was missing in my writing. I was always confused about adding dialogue tags and had no idea that action tags were a thing. I played around with dialogue tags as I knew only using dialogue tags was extremely boring and not recommended. That was basically a weird amalgamation of a...

Writing [Tutorial] Writing ACTION 1: The Trick to Writing Action Scenes that Work

"You're dead meat!" Will bared his teeth and lunged forward, his sword fully extended to skewer Jack. In response, Jack twisted his wrist, allowing the flat of his blade to parry Will's lunge. With a snort of derision, he quipped, "Oh really?" while he slid down Will's blade. A smirk crept up...

Quitting music changed my writing life.

I listen to music to get me in the mood. When I get in the zone I tend to zone out music and all distractions, it also helps that I make the volume of the music soft and not loud no matter what genre I am listening to. This means when I get lost in writing I tend to forget I even had music on...

Looking for an editor for my LitRPG

I also don't mind sinking some time into doing this. I wouldn't mind also being an editor and helping out!

Writing Judge my Magic system Idea

A hard magic system only defines what you can and can't do when casting a spell. A Hard Magic system is made to make sure that spells CAN do anything, they just COST a lot or have strict requirements. Meaning that you don't need to explain the energy too much unless this energy limits spells in...

Writing Judge my Magic system Idea

One important thing to take notice of is how your Magic System affects the culture and people. For instance, mages. I assume that they will typically be very skeptical and never take multiple disciples in fear of them taking knowledge and betraying, meaning that it would be hard to convince a...

Writing Judge my Magic system Idea

What he's basically saying is that you are going with a chosen one trope. A trope that can work well as we have a defined magic system. An example is Avatar the Last Airbender, with four elements, earth, wind, fire, water. Only the avatar can wield all four elements and therefore the magic...
