  • Has anyone had large batches of favorites just disappear like smoke, I will sometimes see that I got one on every chapter, or like 5-10 of them for them to suddenly vanish.

I remember it happening once with my novel. It's probably has something to do with the anti-bot\anti-spam system. A person who liked a bunch of chapters gets banned, thus likes disappear. Or something along this lines.

I was wondering if it was something like that.
I wish we had a feature to disable ratings and reviews, I hate seeing them. They are the reason I have tons of writings I refuse to post on here.
I just woke up and am getting ready for work, I can tell I haven't woken up yet since I almost published a chapter I finished last night to the wrong novel! So glad I clicked save draft on accident and previewed it...
Does anyone find they need to be in a certain mood to write? I do it for fun and I find that arguing with people really destroys it.

When i have an idea for a chapter, i try to write it down right away as it might disappear. Sometimes, the ideas come to me very late at night.

I have maps for most of my chapters already, and I just have to write them, I have yet to really make too many changes to the timeline. I suffer from bipolar and I find that if my mood is really wonky I just don't write to any level that I can accept.

I think it makes sense. Your mood affects your motivation or how well you could work.
The conclusion I have come to after using both Grammarly and prowriting aid is that I kind of don't like prowriting aid. I realize after using it that it tends to make every single author who uses it write the exact same way.

It just severely strips the individuality of the piece. I almost think it seems more boring this way after a lot of analysis.

An editor in my country said "You can tell whether somebody used it" when asked about a similar program in our native language. It wasn't meant as a compliment.
These programs can help but not if you follow every suggestion. If you do, it strips the soul of the text away.

It's basically what I have come to the conclusion of, I have found I am not a fan. I use them since I am not great at editing, I might be dyslexic, but I am usually not too happy with the results if I listen to it.

Yeah, same, I only use them for actual typos or wrong grammar but I don't bother with the other suggestions.
It took so long for them to approve my novel it doesn't even appear on the front page... I might as well have not even bothered posting it.

Most of the readers at the beginning will come from Latest Updates anyway. That's what is the main source until you get a trending spot. While the first day can give a decent boost, it still depends a lot on a baity cover/title if you really want to utilize it, and from what I've seen, you had neither, so it wouldn't give much.

I'm not saying that everyone has to use them. Just stating facts after spending lots of time around and also starting twice in the past.

Oh I know, I don't use impressive covers, but I have experience at least. It just sucks since day 1 does help a bit, oh well I thought it was more shocking than anything.
Why does posting the first chapter of a new series always take so long to show up? I have been waiting over 4 hours, lol.

just keep waiting man, it'll show up.

    eventually.

    i think.

It takes about 12 hours for a moderater to see if your novels matches SH guidelines and the cover also then it gets post of the front page and end up in the series section of your profile
Anyone have thoughts on Grammarly? I am thinking of trying it.

Hi there! I am using Grammarly, especially the premium version. I think I've been using it since two years ago when I first started using it at school, but I don't exactly remember though. I think it's worth it, but I don't think it is suitable for creative writing. I would recommend using ProWritingAid instead, but you don't have to as it doesn't matter.

What is the difference? I grew up in foster care, so I took the GED route to make money ASAP. I am now trying to teach myself what I lost, since I dropped out sophomore year. I don't think I need a lot of help, but I need something to point it out to me sometimes.
How would someone go about requesting a new tag for books? Dr.stone went really heavy into chemistry, and I am as well. I almost want a tag for it since I do see it to a degree. I think it would encourage education.

Thank you, that was a huge help. I feel like I need some kind of chemistry tag, I go too in depth for it to be anything else. I feel like Dr.Stone really suffered this sometimes.

they rarely ever add the tags suggested so i'd advise you from wishing too much from it

@AlphaRetard you're right in that. its mostly just a log of wanted tags all in one place thu doubt it'll be added. maybe its better to have tag threads specifically for each tag afterall. then again, hardly see those implemented either.
anyone familiar with using the draft function or the post chapter later function? I had a few questions and wondered if someone had experience with them?

That is exactly what I am afraid of, I am in the united states and the time zones are so far off. I work a lot of hours, and I was trying to figure out how to properly do this so I am not posting all over the place on my scheduled days. For me the reset is at 6P.M. So if I set it to come out at 6:30 PM then it should be right after the reset, right? I am worried it is based off server time.

Ahh, you need to set your time in your account settings!

After that is child play. Just don’t be me and set AM instead of PM.

Also, if you scheduled a chapter, but have to edit something, you need to change the scheduled status back to draft. Don’t be me and publish accidentally.

    Good luck on your endeavor!

That is a huge help, as I am very much a cartoon character. Just remember that if you think something is perfect the universe will just create an even unluckier idiot, and that tends to be me. Thank you for taking the time to answer this.

Are you aware of any novels that might actually use the tag on the site? Sounds interesting...

I use it in my kingdom building series, my MC has a minor in chemical engineering in the lore. I go through chemistry lightly as it can be a bit dry.

I just realized I get bothered when characters don't change their clothes in stories. When you think how that epic anime coat looks after not being washed for several months!
Does anyone ever have to stop writing, and laugh so hard they start crying by what they are trying to write?
