Will other authors (or worse, the readers) hate me
The GL fanbase will hate you if you don't write GL. They will also hate you if you write GL. It's complicated.
You can divide the fanbase into two:

1. The Purists (MC must always be female from the start)

2. The Nonconformists (MC must be a male turned into female)

They are all insane. Avoid them. The authors are more dangerous than the readers because they can ask their readers to cancel you.

It's a cutthroat world where only the strong survive. The weak will have to delete their story and account from Scribble Hub.

What should you do? Write BL! We are a supportive community of writers and readers who want to see more awesome BL books being written. We are bound by only one thing: Our Love of BL! You can connect with your fellow BL lovers in the BL Palace discord!

Yo. New writer here, it just occured to me to double-check:

Is there any kind of beef between ScribbleHub and Royalroad? Will other authors (or worse, the readers) hate me if and when they find out? I know some webfiction sites hate other webfiction sites.

Usually it is harder to go the other way around. If you post your story on royal road that is already on scribble hub they might think that you are trying to copy someone else's scribble hub story and post it on royal road.

Isn't it a little late to hide it?

No. It is because the ship looks to the light and the rock looks to the darkness. AmAZON RINGS OF POEER TAUGHT ME THAT!!!1!
Actually, every once in a month, Tony reveals the IP locations of people who came from RoyalRoad, and we go hunt them.
There are times the tree of weird porn must be watered with the blood of royal road users and trimmed with sheers made with human bone.

It's my favorite tree.

...well that was unexpected. I always thought it would be a girly-cuddly-lovey-heart-filled community. But apparently, it is in a state of constant war between two factions...The more you know!

Lmao

Just post EVERYWHERE if you want your story to be popular. Space battles, scribble hub, Royal road, Wattpad, etc.

More exposure means more popularity. If there's no benefit in exclusivity, there's no need for it.

(But please avoid Webnovel.com, it's hard to delete your work later on)

As long you put those story and gain popularity, nobody cares if it's from some website or another.

Maybe there some reader will be anoyyed if you're deleting some of your chapter due to Amazon's offer. But All is fair in business as long as it didn't broke the rule.

Play nice to those "hater" who didn't like deleted chapter and enjoy the benefit. If they're loyal they should've bought the book.

Maybe if you're popular enough, there will be some illegal PDF lying around. Ignore it, the real problem is web aggregator. They copy your chapter from royal road/sh/space battle and put them on their website. It can potentially be detected by Amazon, and they think that you've been breaching the exclusivity contract, and therefore putting you on blacklist without any chance for explaining yourself.

Just hope your story is popular enough to attract pdf aggregator, but not website aggregator. Or at least, if it attract aggregator, it's not detected by Amazon.

I tried Royal Road, but their forums are so boring
Because they don't have Ai-chan anymore. Yoohoo!

Ai-chan loves beef. RR used to be nice. Wing was nice. Then they suddenly decided to go all elite and went out of their way to drive out authors who didn't fit their 'standards'. Andur cocksuckers were horrible too.

But as the average author, none of those are your fault. So nobody really cares even if they know you're from there. That is, as long as you don't bring their toxic culture here. As long as you subscribe to the idea of no personal attacks, no censorship, no SJW or karen behaviour, you'll probably be fine here.

Their forums are so boring because they know frequenting the forums are a waste of time better spend on writing. But if you have a question or need advice, the forums are the best place for it. Ask, and the people there will give you the answer you need.

Don't go around asking questions or advice in Scribble Hub's forum. Most of the time, people in the forum don't know the answer or will laugh at you for asking "stupid question" to avoid admitting they don't know the answer.

The one who actually give a valid answer to a question is usually the same person who is active in Royal Road forum. It's hit or miss.

Scribble Hub users don't have any beef with Royal Road. We have people who crossposted their stories on both sites, they are alright. You will not see them often because they mostly use the site to gain more exposure. They usually don't interact with other authors.

The one who have any beef with Royal Road is the one who migrated from Royal Road because their stories get rejected there. They are few in numbers so you don't have to worry about them.

Last time I checked, Scribble Hub allowed up to 50% pornographic content in a story as opposed to Royalroad 25%. This is a big deal for some people. It's one of the reason why Scribble Hub is called Smut Hub.

You can see many smuts in this site, but they are not number one. The original Scribble Hub users come from Novelupdates. If your stories are inspired by anime and manga, you will do well here. See you in trending!

Quick (and probably irrelevant) correction, nowadays it's down to 10%, or perhaps temporarily up to 12.5% (but then you need to tone it down in a matter of a week or two).

Thanks for your reply!

So this is why those migrators are more angery these days, huh? Good to know.

Quick (and probably irrelevant) knowledge, as an author, it's not the Royal Road migrators you need to worry about. It's Webnovel migrators. The "block" feature is your best friend. Use it well.

I came here because I like anime, and my story is mostly anime-inspired.~ :blob_highfive:

Quick and (surprisingly relevant) knowledge, before you ask how to become trending in the forum and get laughed at for asking another stupid question, this is how you become trending:
You need to give my story one star here on Scribble Hub and five stars on Royal Road 😇

See you in trending!

Oh it's fine, I don't really care about becoming popular. I'm sharing my story in hopes a few readers will like it, and I was writing it mostly to entertain (and challenge) myself. It's not very good either.~ Still, thanks for the advice! That's a pretty funny thread you linked to, lol.

(Maybe at some point I can beg the readers to hop over and inflate my star rating on Royalroad... heheheheh... Don't tell Wing... 🤫)

Becoming trending is not worth it.

It triple your daily views/readers count but leave your story exposed to downgraders and trolls.

I'm from RR. Haven't had an issue but know the audience here is different (for better or worse). Forums here seem more inviting so I actually post here, while over there I just post my story and that's it. I'll post my story almost anywhere, though.

The Stats are better here in the sense that it's both free and easier to understand. The UI for posting/viewing/editing is cleaner. The forums are more inviting visually. And I don't get any off-the-wall comments/questions on my story like I do on RR. Literally had a dude write half a chapter in the comment section on RR and I still don't understand if he expected me to actually read and pay attention to it. Especially when a majority of what he said was useless.

Either way and in either place- hope you continue to write and explore your fantasy world! Be well!

Edit: I don't think it really changes the view angle, but I don't post Smut. While I have romance, and there will be some smutty chapters, my story lacks that "adult"-angle and I still find it comfortable to post here. Thought I'd add that just in case you assumed this was a smutty-based posting place. There's a lot of it and it's in your face, but your story doesn't have to be.

I concur,
I've literally stumbled across reader accounts that I'm certain were registered/created only to give 1 star/horrible reviews on every novel they come across. Never having anything nice to say at all, and their seemingly impossible to please standards, whilst referencing legends like LOTR and GOT.

From my experience those are from professional authors who failed to make a living, have heard there's money in the webnovel writing space, they tried to post their work but it once again got 0 attention, then jealousy overtook them so they start flaming the **** out of every novel they see. ("How can people read this?!?!?! My story is 1000x better!!!" etc.) It's just pure coping. :blob_cookie:

Fortunately it seems like it's a rare occurence!
