I think it's a little funny if done just enough before the guy ends up with their crush.
An example is in QWFOD during the farming Ger arc.
The ML got jealous over his subordinate cos he was hiding his identity too much.

In FOD it’s cute! They had something going on.

But like in so many romance fiction, the crush just has no interest and tells the other person so. But instead of moving on the one crushing gets mad at the bestie because the crush had interest in the bestie. Why is bestie suddenly forbidden to go out on an outing with the crush? ( friends)

The audacity to assume crush is his and blame bestie for the failed confession, just because he voiced his interest in crush to bestie escapes me.

Maybe it's the author's attempt to make the ML seem dominant and assertive?

As in, they think a man has to be like that in order to be attractive?
