Oh, my, history is much darker than you think. If you know where to look in history, then even the darkest fantasy will seem relatively nice.

Yea I'm not terribly surprised by that. Grim stuff, even for people who used to write horror.

If I ever wrote any relatively realistic historical fiction it would be so depressing. I tend to get really dark with my realism...

Yea generally only WWII stuff effects me that way. I can handle French Revolution I think.
