It's a reference to a reference, but the secondary reference makes more sense in this context.
If you had read Everyone Else is a Returnee, you would know that one of the main character, Erta, is well-known for her know-it-all nature and attitude in the story.

When the main character needed an explanation, he'd ask her, and when it was too complicated, he'd ask her again but to do it simpler.

Example:

"Erta, what does "resonance" mean on this weapon?" - Yu Ilhan

"The resonance property allows the transference of properties between one item to occur onto the next,
using similar materials which allows the user the resonate even better as long as you can continue suppor-" - Erta

"SIMPLER!!!" Yu Ilhan

"YOU HAMMER A NAIL WITH A FLAMING HAMMER,
AND THAT NAIL STAYS ON FIRE." -Erta

"Good, that wasn't so hard, was it?" - Yu Ilhan

"Sometimes I feel like you're just using me." - Erta ("=w=)
