Given the mythos, everyone--mc, supporting, extras, &c.--keeps getting reincarnated. It's just not spelled out as I-reincarnated-with-my-memories-intact as that would make titles & tags accurate but unwieldy.
Like dub vs sub, terms buried by time & carrots. That's actually redubbed-in-english vs subtitles-in-english. Yet, some automatically associate dubs with english dubs. No dubbing = silent film.
