How would you write both?

My story has two mains so I'm considering whether to pair the two mains with one another or other characters.... Or should I write both story lines just to punish myself to see which one is better lol

If I choose to pair with other characters then will only pair one main up with another character and keep the other main single (who has already lost two partners that is "been married twice")

Well, why do the mains have to pair up with anyone?
