  • People keep saying "support your human artists over AI" but they don't know how it feels living in a third world country with weak currency paying artists in dollars.

In short, good art's expensive yo.

Good artists usually take 50-200 dollars for a comission, depending how detailed and how large the piece is. In my coutry, 200$ equals three and a half of minimal monthly salary. And it's not even that bad, as I've recently learned.

Yeah, pretty much. My last commission was 210 bucks. And that was just a one person picture.

I want a cover with lots of characters in it but I can't commission it to either AI or humans (due to monetary reasons).

Yep, i get that feeling. Living in a third world coutry suck ass. A 7$/hour job is the equilvelent of a good desk job in Vietnam.
Oh wow, I just saw my novel being sold on Amazon. What the fuck?

Like it matters. They literally sell porn. And the scammed products are posted that way to avoid any auto-moderation.

You can submit a DCMA request, as long as you provide a LOT of proof, and they might not do anything anyway. I tried that when someone stole my story (three of them so far on different sites) and the sites did nothing, until I asked my readers to spam the thing with bad reviews and reporting it stolen. It took a few weeks for them to remove it; but, it worked and I couldn't thank my readers enough.

Hope you have a nice day Forest.
But you have to learn to move on from the negativity on your stories. If you are disheartened by it, don't click on reviews; ignore comments.

The more one thinks how sad something is, the more you feel stuck, sad, and unmotivated by it.
Felt that way, but for a different case. Its a work in progress to break out that thinking, but once you do it feels so much better + more motivated.

    Good luck Forest.
    >tfw you have a commenter who keeps telling me what to write and he's not even a Patreon sub

At least it's better than no comments at all?

In other news, I learned that 30 bucks is a tiny amount for a Patreon writer. And I thought I was slowly making it big.

There goes my writing motivation for the day.
It's funny. The further away you are from the last time you post a chapter, the less posting urge you have.

That's why I like having a Patreon. I can post to only a handful of people who really cares about my story. They dropped money for it after all.

Imagine doing a double upload and all you get is a negative review.

It is what it is :blob_teary:
I wonder how much a professional-looking anime cover would cost you.

Eh, you can tell the professionalism by the shading, proportion, coloring, perspective, etc.

Yeah, but those are still subjective to a degree. I can get proportion, but what constitutes "professional" shading, for one? Those are stuff that you cannot hard qualify. Once we reach a certain level of "good shading," it starts getting subjective and dependent on your own taste on determining "professionalism."

Exactly as Eter says. Everything you listed Forest can be the result of how you describe what you want to the artist. Unless you don't make complex descriptions. I do. And they always love them. I write stuff to the very smallest detail and then talk with the artist about their opinion on it. BIAW cover is exactly the way it was in my head.
Damn, I'm jelly for a 2M view novel with not a single one star review. And barely any review that isn't five star. Even when the review is just complaining with no praise whatsoever.
Sometimes, I wish you can reply to reviews. Not just because I want to reply to my own, but because I want clarifications on the points the review makes on another story.

I agree, that would make it a challenge keeping those responses towards the review short. The only good point in doing that would be the advertisement.
Damn it, I think I'm liking Sousou no Frien less and less lately. And one of my characters took inspiration from the MC too.

Tournament arc fatigue is a real thing.

Also, why are there so many fucking forests? I feel the author just reuses the same forest over and over for every scene that takes place in a forest.

Probably because they're just moving around in a relatively small area. Or the author thought medieval europe was basically covered in forest lol
