I actually sympathize with you, finishing a story when it naturally and organically ends feel correct, but wanting to forcefully extend the novel to 1k chapters puts it at risk to: deus ex machina, some stupid shit that no one likes happening, people realizing the novel is deliberately not...

I write smut. I've been getting messages because people don't care about character development, they just want more brainless smut. Literally messaging me to remind me to get back to the real plot, not plot. Iono. It's not like I watch JohnnySins to see his character develop.

make his hallucinations manifest due to his magic/mana fulfilling his imaginations, thus sending him into a journey/quest where he needs to learn to control his stages of issues one by one, and weakening the chaotic spells and calming them. Whilst everyone else thinks its the end of days...
