Is there any advantage in writing a book like talking with the reader?

It's an older style where the narrator breaks the fourth wall and addresses the reader directly. I love this, and some people calling it cringe, I would say they haven't read the right books where this narrative style is utilized correctly. If you're interested in this, I would suggest reading...

Was reading some blurbs from the trending list, and wtf?

Are these three people the same person? Holy smokes. Some kind of old flame war has arisen from the ashes... in my thread.

Was reading some blurbs from the trending list, and wtf?

Some of them are so poorly written I couldn't get through them. Typos, misused words, sentences that hardly make any sense at all. Now I feel like I'm being cheated. Wtf...

    Beware the artist scammers

Some of them are bots. They add me to discord, always with the same greeting, then they want you to look at their gallery.

Very nice! Well, writing is easy, and it's fun. But I want to make some dough, ya know?

Are there any successful SLICE OF LIFE stories?

I have an idea I want to pursue, and if I can have it my way, I won't be focusing a lot on the violent side of the action, but I'm not sure a story of this nature will generate the kind of readership I'm looking for. What are your thoughts on this?

    Pacing questions for everyone.

Is it a challenge question? A reader's perception based on pacing can very much be about taste. Slow fantasies might be boring for people who like sword-and-sorcery (which is essentially the thriller of the fantasy genre.) Conversely, thrillers may seem rushed to readers who enjoy slow burn...

    Okay, which cover is better?

Holy crap. How did I not notice that?! LOL Don't worry. Jeanbleau wonders why she's even called the "Pumpkin Princess" to begin with as well. It's part of the story.

On a technical level... how is my smut?

I've only written one spicy story before. But I didn't lead with the spicy scene, it's at the end of the story, and everything I wrote leads up and teases what's to come. It's about anticipation. Build that. It's foreplay, lol.

How many of you actually manually use em-dashes?

I'm a native speaker and I don't use AI. I use MS Word, and I use em dashes all the time--they help set off and draw attention to a line of text. They can also be used a bit like parentheses--like this--and so this makes them very useful. I use em dashes regularly in all my writing (and I also...

Some art for my story of the villain and his sorcerers as described in my series

It's intended as interior illustration, but I may make a cover as well as an ad.

    Is this cover too spicy?

Neither do I. But here they do.

Some art for my story of the villain and his sorcerers as described in my series

That's awesome. I've read Conan the Cimmerian. All of Howard's stuff except the final novel, which I've been meaning to get to, and never Kull. This is Shiro getting isekaied into the world his in.

Some art for my story of the villain and his sorcerers as described in my series

It's art for the interior of the book. I'm making more. Some of it might be too spicy for this forum?
