I have a second list for series I plan to read, and another for series I've dropped or know I don't want to read, both of which have novels sitting at ch1 indefinitely

As long as each sentence isn't a 3+ line run-on, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you feel there's too much though, try modifying your writing style.
