Writing How do you deal with/prevent/manage power creep/rising stakes in story telling?

You keep in in control from the beginning. Rather than constantly slap upgrades to keep interest, you start writing with an idea in mind for how far you want your powers to grow and then slowly and consistently grow it across the story. It is like inflation 1-2% is good, Zimbabwe is bad.

22 readers, 707 views... 0 reviews and 1 rating (my own)?

The issue is that the statistics is confusing with their labels. The 'readers' aren't always the actual readers. They are bookmarks, nothing more. Some do it because they are indeed reading. Others -- as a possible future read, and third-- just to filter your story out and not see it anymore...

The Starcraft System in the Far Future

Japanese companies are forced to issue takedown notices. AFAIK by their law system if they do not -- they risk losing their copyrights.

Extra Paragraph Spaces Not Showing Up On Chapters Anymore

Can you highlight every line like I've done with mine and post a picture? Preferably with multiple line breaks highlighted. I did my testing on PC(chrome)

Extra Paragraph Spaces Not Showing Up On Chapters Anymore

Here is my quick attempt at both within my own chapter. 1st picture is the original (you can notice that I already have varied gaps in the chapter present. 2nd picture is the part in editing. with every line highlighted. (notice the lack of gap between the empty line after bold sub-title and...

Extra Paragraph Spaces Not Showing Up On Chapters Anymore

Are you using "Enter" or "Shift+Enter" to start a new line? I have found that the latter causes this while the former does not. And some might automatically choose latter perhaps due to Discord using "Enter" to post and "Shift+Enter" to start a new line.

    slavery in novels is annoying

Dude, Helotes are an epitome of a "helpless slave" They weren't constantly rebelling -- Spartans declared yearly wars on them to keep them subjugated to hell. Even the most edgelord authors writing slavery don't approach the level of cruelty Spartans have done onto helots on a consistent basis.

    New author here.

Rather than chapter speed and names, I would say is that at least your first chapter is... exhausting to read. 1 - Your protagonist isn't being a protagonist. He spends half of first chapter moping about his current life and the last part of the chapter reacting to his maid. This alone is...

    two likes but no views

Considering you posted it around midnight GMT it is likely that servers were busy processing the DB and calculating trending\rankings etc. A lost of things tend to be a bit iffy during that time period, usually for about 10-15 min

Writing I need help... How do I keep readers hook for my book?

You need for the plot to move forward. This isn't about action or exposition -- either can move or stall the plot. Figure out a medium to long term goal that readers will be expect for the story to look forward and make sure readers know this goal. You can start with character getting betrayed...

    Referrers?

It is also possible that they received notification and jumped from their previous search right into your chapter. I often see "referrals" where people come from random chapters of other stories with no obvious link to mine.

    The 4th dimension is BS

If you consider a human as a static 4D object that exists in a chunk of spacetime. (Because in 4D spacetime humans are rather immobile and static - an elongated "noodle" of our life through time with all our decisions and movements in 3D being unchanging, final, and therefore solid) Then the...

How would an geometry based magic system work?

Those are fun to design (i am using something similar!) but a pain to describe so that target audience can enjoy reading those (i am using something similar...)

    Are viruses alive or dead?

Because "alive" isn't a scientific term, but a cultural one. It is a collective term for a loose group of things that humanity just chose to organise together based on their knowledge of the world at that time. All criteria of being alive that we are taught are just us trying to adapt the old...

    Are viruses alive or dead?

This is not the problem of whether viruses are alive or not. We are quite sure what viruses are and what they can do. The reason that this question is so problematic is that we do not have a discrete definition of what "alive" actually is. Once we have a list of questions that will 100%...

    Tips about "info dumps"

I believe you have two problems that need addressing. First is saying vs Showing. Many get confused by this often thinking that saying is a complete taboo and everything needs to be shown. It is not -- some things are better shown than said\stated. Especially things that aren't outright...

    Time skip justification

Dont dump everything at once. Go at it like maslov's hierarchy of needs. Start with the most critical \ immediate stuff (Now world is hunting your kind \ air is poisonous to breathe \ there is an assasin in nearby alley looking for you) then as the plot continues - tackle longer term, less...
