Should one follow or defy trends?

Regardless of trends, there's things that you need to have down to be a great. Story flow, organic feeling characters, compelling plot, non-repreating story in the story engine, etc.

How would you describe your favorite antagonist as poorly as possible?

Megalomaniac, power grabbing clown, with a God complex.

Are stories becoming just MC OP and pleasure-seeking?

It's been a thing for a long time. Hercules, Samson, Sherlock Holmes, John Carter, Superman, Paul Atreides, etc.

    Am I the only one?

Here's a factoid nugget that's relevant. Frank Herbert, writer of the Dune series died long before he finished writing with just 6 books. But he story boarded his whole series and had a massive pile of background notes, so his son based the 20 Dune books he co-wrote on that story board and pile...

Once more I must partake of this cup.

Considering the logical answers above, here's some faker answers. Get two whiskey flasks. Fill one with tea. Fill the second halfway with whiskey. Nurse the tea one, while sharing the real one if asked. Those one kinda requires a jacket with an inner pocket to pull off the swap right. The...

A discussion about why some of the best stories come from talented writers with a whim

Pure selfish desire. It's why I think Steven King's Cary is his best work. As he wrote it purely to prove he could be a non-ero writer.

looking for an old video game

Sounds like Gauntlet Legends. The archer chick makes a ref like that. Edit: My mistake, Gauntlet: Dark Legacy is the isometric one.

Writing Does story really need to be grammatically correct?

Grammarly is trained on it's users. So it's corrections can be funky as regional and subject differences make it give weird results. Technical docs, thesises, and ESL business e-mails read differently than a story. So it's a bit iffy. Still, it's good to know the basics so you don't frustrate...

I heard you like talking about useless topics? Here's one more.

Considering I watched a couple of degen vtubers complete NNN, yes. Because watching them degrade over a month really showed me just how much a person's character is mood dependent.

Choose a world in which to be an NPC (Shounen Edition)

DBZ cause the deaths are generally quick. Also you know what the afterlife would be. Where as I can imagine some btk like serial killers in MHA, who knows what kind of afterlife there is, if one at all.

What do you think about multiple main lead stories?

Depends on how you write it. I've dropped a story because the author rehashed the same event three times in a row from three different perspectives. Taking 60 chapters to do so. So frustrating.

How do you feel about the U.S. southern accent?

It's fine. I grew up in NC, so it's rather normal to me. Quick tip, if a southern boy talks like boomhauer from King of the Hill, he's likely on meth.

When do you start reading a novel?

20+ chapters, or if I know the author completes what they wrote, just 1. However if I see an author with like six stories, and none are complete, I won't bother with trying any of their works until complete.

Any books you've read when you were really young that you liked back in the day, that wouldn't pass your bar for what you'd consider quality today?

Hardy Boys, Goosebumps, Robotech. Either too childish or in Robotech's case glosses over the actual difficulty of reverse engineering.

Is ScribbleHub better than Webnovel in case of strong readers?

If you want critical readers, Royalroad is the place to go. Scribblehub, imo, is about half way between RR and WN when it comes to readers. Mainly because Scrib has the most smut between the three, which keeps the super critics away.

Recommendations Novels about martial arts set in a modern world.

That's rough, cause most people only want manuals and philosophy in book form for martial arts. Even ol Bruce Lee has a philosophy book, where as his stories are all movies.
