I know it is too early, but...

So, I gave myself an entire year for my current project. That said, I plan on making a couple of volumes. What is a good volume length for a traditional novel? Also, how long should a book be left to rest before being edited? Or should I first draft the entire series, before I start editing? I...

    Repurposing

Do you think that it is ok if I use the plan for a German story I dropped, and rewrite it in English? It is just that it is well liked by two readers, got two kudos for it, but I just can't write good enough in German. It is like pulling teeth for me. What I want is, is to give myself a year...

Do you think there is hope for me?

Let us say I do all those things that were mentioned in the With what are they different? Thread. Rework my books, get them to alpha readers, beta readers, editors. Actually change things when I have to. Have, and I shudder to write it, multiple drafts. Do you think there is hope for me to ever...

    What makes them different?

First, I would like to make it clear, that the published authors have struggled a lot to get the book deals and so on that they have. I respect them, and this is by no means a case of: Waaaah, why is he picked on the cool kids' table, and not me? What do you think makes the published authors...

    What would you have done?

So, first, I would like to mention that I didn't mean to waste anyone's time. The thing is, that I did German tests online, and got the false impression about my German Language lvl. And I got through an interview and got a job, managed to push through my first two weeks of training. No idea in...

    I have something to admit

Today I updated all of my AO3 stories at once. Normally, I had updating days, but now I don't want to stick to them. The books kept piling up. Well, now that I have just 30 minutes per day to write not so much, but I still had completed books, that needed updating. And books which I completed...

    Oh snap

My horoscope has been pretty spot on lately. And today in it was written that diplomacy will be of the utmost importance today. And I am like: You mean bullshitting, right? I can do bullshitting! Just for fun, (I read my horoscope just for laughs) what is written in your horoscope?

I know nothing (Yes, Dora Snow here XD)

Today was hard. I got my first day of calling the clients, and got overwhelmed. Pure theory didn't prepare me for today. Didn't make a single sale. But, you know what? One of my colleagues told me I did good! Also, I wrote a chapter today. Having just 30 Minutes per day to write is weird. For...

I now watch cat videos on YouTube

I just need to hear purring and meowing. My cats are at the other end of the country. I can't go home until Easter. There are no cats in the neighborhood. Which is nice because if there were any, they'd be homeless. I miss my cats. :blob_teary:

Extra work to bring a story to life

So, I generate AI pictures of my characters, scenes and places, to help me remember certain things better. Also, for my current project, I made a 12-step plan. Sort of a frame of what should happen along the way. What sort of work do you do, to give an extra push to your story?

So, any tips on generating a group picture with Midjourney? The most I can do is three people, but I need six.

The secret to weight loss is...

Step 1: Go talk to your doctor, do blood and urine tests. Step 2: Don't overexercise. A walk per day is enough. Step 3: NO Snacking between meals. Just eat enough during mealtimes. Don't bother with people, who will shame you for the portion sizes. (Personally, I just eat a big sandwich at work...

    Flow

When I get in the flow, I make fewer mistakes. But as soon as I start loosing steam, I can make more than 5 mistakes in the same sentence. I had about 500 words with no mistakes today. And they are all from the same scene. My writing speed also slows down. Do you have such episodes as well?

    Writeathons

@SailusGebel and pretty much all Scribblehubbers: If I post a thread next Saturday, and ask if it is a good day for a writeathon, tell me this: You Pendonkey! Do you really want to spend the entire Sunday proofreading? The folks at 4thewords are like me, so they mostly cheer me on. My only...

    Posting question

So, I started a new book. Fellow Scribblehubbers helped me brainstorm it. I have the first 4 chapters ready, and I will soon edit them. The problem is, that I already update 7 stories, all of which are complete. Do you think my readers will get fed up with me, if I pile up this story on top of...

    Proofreading challenge

It is 5 pm, and I pledge to proofread more than 20k words by 10pm! Proofreading Tally: 7 chapters (Since what I do is not editing but proofreading, I felt that it was correct to call it out for what it is! XD) I need sleep. Still, I have like 2 more chapters. I guess that they could be left...

How does this sound to you?

Note, I just want advice, since I am starting a new novel today. This is under no circumstances an add for a story or anything. Just bouncing ideas off you all. Ok, I know this is done before (even by me), but how does this sound to you: 1. Weak F ranked Adventurer joins a party. But they are...

    I finished a 70k word fanfic!

It is now officially the longest work I have written in German, and I had tons of fun! According to 4thewords, it took me a grand total of 27h48m10s for a total of 72,753 words! And (drumroll...) Sometimes I reach 50 Words per minute. :D Mostly I can keep a steady 40 wpm, even when I am...

Do people think that books written in Pulp Speed are cheap?

For now, my weekends are still free, so today I wrote 7k words (so far). Does that make my books cheap? I am not speaking about price. In that case, they are indeed cheap, since they are free. But I am asking about the opinion of the readers.
