Evolution of walking on two feet

I believe it's important to look at our closest relatives and do some comparison. Pretty much all primates handle tools to one degree or another, but are half bipedal, half quadrupeds. They are able to walk on two feet, but prefer to use their hands to support their body when possible...

What's up with this BL author's rumors about being convicted?

A little tangential, but I also want to point this out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_Credit_System @Jemini You said that China is better than the Nazis lately, but I think programs like this marks their work as better, in the sense that they are achieving their goals much better than...

    The Metus Contest

Normally the life skill bit would refer to the dedication of raising the skill itself, but could the story be about the usage of the skill towards some sort of goal instead? Like, having some sort of special skill (supernatural or not), and the story is about the use of that skill towards the...

Resolved Ctrl+←/→ switches chapters when writing a comment

I've suffered this quite a few times, as I use ctrl+ left/right to insert words into sentences as well as ctrl+shift+ left/right to select words to delete sections as I write. Maybe just disable while comment replies are open?

    August 2019 Updates

Oh, nice to see the new ranking system! How long until you'll be replacing the current trending list with it anyways? I wanna know how long I have until I have to say goodbye to the front page forever. :blob_teary: That said, which of the two versions are you planning on putting on the front...

    Writing How to manage pacing

Luckily, there's a good video that just came out yesterday on this subject here

    Updates and abandoned stories

ah neat. I was thinking that might be a bit unfair for those that have really slow update rates, but I guess for those, if they do end up showing up on this site, they could just get some sort of exception or something.

    Updates and abandoned stories

I was thinking about a way to mark stories that have been abandoned, and I thought maybe it could be done in conjunction to a predicted update frequency value? When you set up a story, you can include the expected update frequency, and if a certain amount of time or the updates pass three or...

Faster Way To Add Tags To Series

Maybe like an expanding system like the spoiler tag? Click a button to open up the full list in triple columns so you can select the ones you like?

    Showers or Baths?

I shower as well due to the lack of time and patience, but I really prefer baths. Being able to relax in a nice hot bath with some scented bath salts or something is something I really want to do, but don't have the time for.

    Stress Kills Creativity

Ah, sorry if I wasn't clear enough. That response was responding to what @Scribbler has written about your post, directed again towards you. I just don't like it when people give bad advice or discourage creators for no good reason. Especially the latter, as the former is often subjective and/or...

    Stress Kills Creativity

Please don't disparage another's honest efforts like this, especially when it's obvious he's opening himself up to us, it's cruel to simply dismiss his words and instead insult him. In terms of vocabulary, being probably one of the most verbose writers on this site, I can tell you having an...

    Stress Kills Creativity

I feel like you're writing about me specifically for some reason. I've had a few readers say some similar things after making some White Rabbit jokes about my releases being late all the time lately. Personally, I think a bit of stress is important, or else you'll just slack off too much, and...

I can't do writing prompts, is that a sign of a bad author

I'm personally a fan of writing prompts, despite the fact that I don't do them all that much. To me, they're a form of growth through play. They don't really matter much, so there's no point in spending much time on them, but at the same time, they're a great way to explore unusual and new...

Is a salaryman or NEET worse as an MC?

I'd like to note that those aren't generally known as NEETs. If you have a job (whether it's common employment or freelance), you aren't a NEET. A NEET doesn't work for a living. Or to be specific, they don't do anything specific to earn their living. Even a person who lives off of donations...

    Can writers time travel?

An entire day gone writing a five minute scene :blob_teary: The real super power of authors isn't the power to create entire worlds and universes, but time dilation.
  17. Ninetailed_Furball

To all those authors who can write a chapter a day. I salute you.

I'm pretty similar here as well. I like to put in any spare time I have thinking about scenes and plan out my story in whatever little gaps of time I can find. The more and better I do this, the easier it is for me to write. Regardless, it usually takes me about 4-6 hours to pump out a 4k word...

How difficult: writing while studying or working

You can try writing your ideas down while you're walking from one place to the next. Makes you look extra dilligent even though it has nothing to do with work :P

How difficult: writing while studying or working

Carry a pen and paper on you at all times. Most work places look poorly at employees pulling out a phone during their shift, but not some paper and ink. You can write down those ideas immediately if you think they're important enough and nobody will think you're not doing your work when you do so.

Does anyone else post a chapter and then keep refreshing the page every 2 minutes?

I kinda find it a bit sad that authors take criticism on their stories personally, as well as the fact that readers expect that as the norm. Criticism on a work is talking about the art itself, and there's an infinite number of places to criticize any work regardless of quality. Generally...
