A brawl occurred between two parties when she patrolled the city.

"In the name of the moon, prepare to be erased! Moon prism, make up!"

A group of girls were attacking another group of adventurer she saw yesterday. The group of girls were shouting something like, "prepare to die, youma!" and other things while attacking those four with their magic. Meanwhile, the four just defended there, surprise evident in their face.

"Why are you attacking us!?" The yellow girl with a whip shouted while she blocked the mist attack from the blue haired girl.

From one side, the yellow haired one send a wave of something to the blue-skinned opponent, and send her flying, hitting the wall.

She had to stop the brawl. She prepared her ice lance and throw it inbetween the group. Then, she entered the melee.

"Who are you!? Why are you interfering with us!?"

"Watery. Stopping the fight." She replied, standing between them.

The blue haired girl used the moment to send her attack to Watery, which she absorbed. The girl retreated a little, shouting, "Usagi, my attack did not work!"

One of the yellow haired girl then responded by creating something with her tiara. She threw it on her.

"Guh..." It was something she hadn't felt before. she felt that her connection with the water inside her weaker the moment it passed. She had to take a precaution against it next time.

"Did it work? Usagi, continue with it!"

"On it! Moon tiara boomerang!"

She raised her spear to deflect it. The attack cut her spear shaft at that and cut through her hand. The connection broken around the cut and made the water in that subspace expanded. her hand that was holding the spear fell down and splashed on the ground.

The boomerang returned, and grazed through the shoulder on the other side. She felt it being disrupted. Immediately, she sent a tendril of water to connect to that hand.

She was possibly outside of her depth here. She turned her head, looking at the four they attacked. They had regrouped at the wall where the woman was being thrown to and prepared to fight.

"Rei, Minako! Try your attack!"

"Akuryo Taisan!"

"Crescent Beam!"

two attack were launched on her. She didn't know what it do to her if she let those hit. She created a shield of ice in front of her.

The fire attack hit her shield, and she felt it melting before she could reform them. Meanwhile, the beam created an incision on that.

This was bad. She didn't have anything to oppose them. she had distributed the heat around her body to prevent her body mass being reduced further. Meanwhile, her shield almost evaporated with that one attack. She was one hot water at that moment. With no way to release it in time, she had to stop the fight. But how?

"Go away!" She turned her head and shouted at the four victim. She needed them to go away before she escape herself.

"Ami, Usagi! Take care of those youma! Minako, once again!"

She had to trust those four to be able to handle those two. Meanwhile, she faced them once again.

Using shield was no good. The fire already been formed, and in half second it would be launched. Think. Think.

She rose up.

The fire attack hit her body. She forcibly move the heat from the attack to her lower limb. Already, the heat managed to evaporate a part of her body. Distributing from the mass folded in the subspace, her body became more translucent as her density lessened. The only place that would be advantageous at that moment was the sewer, as it was the only body large enough to recover her own.

She moved on the direction of the sewer, those two in pursuit. Their attack hit her three times in the thirty second. Her body already as clear as water at the moment, with no more mass in her subspace.

There, the sewer grate!

She flew at the full speed into it.

The crescent attack managed to cut her hand. She didn't bother to reform it this time. As she hit the grate, she let her body turn into its liquid nature and entered it.

---

It was filthy. Her body was filled with so many impurities from the sewer water. With the two women there attacking the four, she had to hurry to return to the guard office, and request reinforcement. hopefully, she has enough time.

---

Death. As she arrived at the place with the other guards, what she found was death. The four women had regrouped, and killed two of their target. She could see the remaining two being overwhelmed.

The guards and her moved to apprehend them. Yet, they could only capture one of them, the blue haired one. The remaining three had escaped.

Looking at the two survivor, she mourned at the two who died, because of her inability in combating them.
"I'm... Sorry to hear this, miss Watery. To think there are people still trying to cause more chaos amidst those troubling times... It is truly disheartening.

"You did all you could though, and you saved two of them at least... Your efforts were not in vain. Be proud of them.

"Let us pray that those that died find peace in the afterlife... The Goddess is proud of your work today, miss Watery.

"May the gods grant you the strength to save those in need, and to cope with failure when it occurs."

Niror once more found herself in the guide, not doing paperwork or handling those ego-filled adventurers, well not really ego-filled. She smiled slightly - no she’s going to make food. Why does a core and more so a vampire need food? Well, they don’t; she just has a mild case of wanting to taste blood but that’s a different story. She wants to learn how to cook, but she would rather. She’s gonna test herself by not going to learn from someone, first of all, to see how much she fares in this experience.

She also heard if she did this three times, and passed she would be able to use the kitchen whenever. This is a nice addition to her sleeping p- she coughs softly. To hear the learning of the humans… Yes, yes… She grabbed the recipe the guide had supplied for her reading it over. She rubbed her nose gently as she thought of the process of cooking before looking down at the small step-stools. Her right eye twitched, that damn lady! At least there aren’t books this time… Wonder who she told to have these here… Or maybe there is an equally short person as herself?

Placing the recipe back where she found it, not like she needs to look at it again. Stepping onto the step-stool, looking at all the ingredients she rubbed her small hands together before she started to cook. It took her ten minutes of trying to make her first ration - which to her turned out ok. Her speed of cooking quickly became shorter and more efficient.

By the time she noticed she had finished her quota of forty rations, it was only an hour later - slightly ahead of prediction. Maybe she learned a skill mid-way? She blinked slightly, before giving a small shrug. If she did that’s alright - not like she can cook like any chief. Stepping down from the stool she went to find the worker to look at her rations before leaving the kitchen to go to the front sighing. She needs to do something with more action on her next quest.
"I'm glad everything went well, miss Niror.

"May the gods keep you safe now and forevermore."

Also, I noticed this in your previous reports, but you keep writing "Guide" instead of "guild"... It's not big deal, but just figured I'd point it out.
The head cook is also a "Chef" by the way, not a "Chief".

Niror doesn’t know if she is ready for this next quest, but this will spice up her quest. Looking down at her ruined clothing, a thought of being clothless made a shiver run up her spine. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen… I hope the slimes won’t be too overwhelming. Well, hearing there are a lot of slimes in the sewer, she got prepared to go, not really too much to bring as she is still a newbie at this kind of job. Extending her claws to look at them, she frowned. She never used this skill too much, she needs to learn quickly while fighting these slimes. She grimaced, hopefully, they won’t make me smell horrible.

Walking down into the sewers quietly, her claws being extended as she walked running her right hand’s claws against the wall as she walked. There were no slimes so far, which isn’t a bad thing if they were this close to an exit it would be horrible for the townspeople. Turning a corner she halted her steps, staring at the group of slimes. Scanning the group counting at least fifteen, she nodded.

She doesn’t know the rate of slime cores to drop so she’s going to kill how many groups she can - till she’s tired or her clothing gets even more ruined than it already is. Slowly walking to the group of slimes Once one of the slimes saw her, and started to jump toward her. Readying herself, as the slime got into the distance, she slashed her claw quickly across the membrane of the slime before jumping back making sure none of its liquid would hit her. “At least fourteen more to go…” She saw the group of fourteen jumping towards her now.

After hunting four more groups of slimes, all ranging from fifteen to twenty she finally got the ten cores, well she got twelve but she won’t be giving the two extra to the Guild. The humans and their counterparts think highly of these monster cores but she doesn’t understand why. Making her way out of the sewers, rubbing her hands together she made her way back to the Guild once more.

Opening the doors, handing the quest to the women behind the counter, along with the ten cores. She moved aside to let them process her quest, sitting against a wall sighing rubbing her hands. Her fingers were hurting from all the slashing she did, at least she is better at using her claws now. She needs to learn self-defense and so on though… She still hates slimes… She would reframe from killing them if she can.

She had been holing up in the library, studying for the exam for two weeks without break. Though, at this point, she felt like she couldn't cram any more knowledge into her head. She was sure she had forgotten content of the first book she had read at this point. Grabbing the book, flora and fauna of scribel region, she began to read another book.

---

Her third week in the library turned her head into a mush. She wanted to stop, but there was still ten shelves of book she hadn't read. Grabbing the book, "cults and you, how to attain the most benefit from a cult", she continued to read. She technically did not need to sleep, nor did she have a need for sustenance. Thus, she spent all of her days with books. Her eyes saw nothing but words, words, words, with the occasional diagrams.

The librarian offered her a beverage called "coffee", to help with her tiredness. She appreciated the offer, truly. But she gained nothing from that, different biology and all. Thinking about biology, was she even alive? To quote from one philosopher she had read in the book, he said that, "I think, therefore I am." But, she did not breathe. The book "Identifying Evil Around You, a step-by-step Guide for Prospective Paladin", had classified her into undead, since no one considered water alive, and she moved using unknown force.

She thanked him, and continue her reading.

---

She felt sad, when reading the Snape guy sacrificed himself. After Dumbledore's gambit, Snape's memory revealed that it was all to protect Harry. At first, she hated the character. How he pinned after Harry's mom, despite the mom being happily married with the guy named James. Though, after the devotion Snape showed to Lily, she felt that it was a mistake for her to marry James. They were childhood friends, they grew together, then he was bullied by this gang of students, and then she left him for the bully? She really hated James.

Her head during the last few days were filled with stories. Picking up the next book, Harry Potter and the Cursed child, she continued to read.

---

She looked at the librarian's hand. using the chalkboard and chalk, he began to write.

"So... if you look at this diagram, you can see the radius of the fireball spell is determined by the parameter x in the spell formula ..."

She listened at his voice, looked at his face, smelled the perfume of his. He was what she wanted. She wanted him to be beside her after this, helping her, guiding her, giving her the answer to every question she asked.

"Do you understand, Watery?"

she nodded.

"Then... let's try to solve this problem. Please design the spell circle for the fireball spell, 1200K, fire duration 5 minutes, speed 30 m/s, and diameter 5m."

she began to write on the board. The spell circle she needed for this has radius of 31 cm, which she could slot with 17 runes at maximum. Taking 13 runes should be possible to solve this question. She began to write the solution on the board.

"Hmm... okay. That would achieve that. This might be an advanced chapter for this, but you can use seven runes for this, like this..."

He began to write his own solution, explaining the interaction of each rune with each others and with the circle.

"Okay, you seem to understand this chapter. Let's move on to the next."

---

After reading and solving so much problem involving the numbers, she felt enjoyment when she encountered the problem described in the book. She felt like she had gained enlightenment after all this time. The world felt simple to her, when everything could be described in numbers.

Returning to that shelf, she placed the latest book she had read, "The Theory of Everything". She looked at the bookshelf.

"Mastering the Thunder magic, by Ramuh" seemed to be the last one on this bookshelf. After she read this book, she had to move on from this part. She had to part from her beloved numbers. A little bit of melancholy filled her (metaphorical) heart.

She began to read.

---

The first book in the last shelf was titled "Diplomacy 101". Reading it, she was reminded of her original purpose.

How many days had passed? She asked the librarian, what date it was.

"12th of July. Why?"

Three months... she had been reading the book in the library for three months almost non-stop. What about the exam?

"I haven't studied for diplomacy exam..." she said, her volume low.

"You're here to study for diplomacy and government exam?"

She nodded.

"Then... what you've been doing, it's to study for it?"

she nodded once again.

He facepalmed. He then rose from his chair and went outside his desk. She followed him, as he moved to the last shelf.

Taking that exact diplomacy 101 book, he gave it to her.

"Okay. You just need to learn from this book. Almost all of the people whom I've suggested that book passed that exam in one to two tries. No need to read the others in the shelves. I thought you just like book, that you've spent everyday here reading everything."

"Thanks."

"If you have any question, just ask me. I'll be on my desk as usual."

---

She felt like she aced the written portion. Now, she just have to solve the oral portion.

"Alright. The Holy Human Empire is known as a place that discriminate against non-humans. Suppose that you are asked to be an envoy from here to there to establish relations between us, what do you propose?"

She had no idea. That book diplomacy 101 did not cover her case of non-humanity and establishing relationship with hostile opponent.

Alright, there should be a book that talked about this case. She began to dig her memory.

Question, is the belief pervasive in the empire? Does the empire taught their children to discriminate? She assumed yes. From "Brainwashing for Fun and Profit", as long as the leader's image stood perfect, majestic, unassailable, and larger than life, the leader could easily control the masses with his charisma. The "The dissection of Gamer - a Threat Analysis of the Gamer-type Otherworlder" had said that the charisma build was the most profitable, even if it was not physically powerful. Each of their word was a mind control.

"We kill their higher up, sir."

"Huh?"

"To remove the brainwashing of the citizen from that empire, we have to inject them with our own brand of brainwashing. Therefore, we need to install a puppet of our own whom aligned with our interests. It is best if the puppet figure is charismatic, as the figure before it was."

"Can... can you speak that once again?"

"Establishing a relationship between us and them is frankly, impossible. The Scribel City had the characteristics of the enemies that they hate. Otherworlders with their various races are getting stronger everyday, and it is inevitable that the otherworlders would spread from this city instead of staying here.

Knowing that, what do they think of us? The belief in the supremacy of human may be threatened by the growing power of otherworlders. I observed that the adventurers are the people who had the drive to be stronger the most in this city. A lot of them are not content with this status quo of weakness. Sooner or later, we will clash."

"I... I see. So, you are saying that it is impossible?" The examiner said.

"Not necessarily. Like I've said before, a long-lived race like elf can carry out this plan of transforming the empire to our liking. Our first target is the children, and for that, we need the education in that empire to change. Thus, firstly, we need to kill the empire's officials and gain access to the material taught to the children, and modify it.

To complement that, we need to assassinate the king too, and make sure that the empire is controlled by a regent of our choosing. To be honest, this plan is simply impossible to do with our strength. But in the future..."

"Alright. I've heard enough. You can go now."

she left.

Twilight Paladin Pannonia Branch Headquarters

Syn's Perspective
The enemy had somehow gotten wind of our mission, and worse yet, our headquarters' location. Outside the ritual chamber, pass the sealed double doors, I could hear the fighting in the main hall. The screams of dying men and women. The clanging of sword on shield, the dull thuds of steel cutting through flesh.
Back inside the ritual chamber, the last few touches of the teleportation ritual circle are being completed. The dastardly ecumenical council's combined forces may outnumber us Twilight Paladins by more than 6 to 1, but we will not go down without a fight. And while it hurts me that I am not charging out of the chamber to fight alongside my brothers and sisters, to slay just a few more of those accursed bastards, to give them a taste of Dawn and Dusk's bite, Olivia, our mistress, had assigned me a mission that may very well be worth more than the lives of all of us in this branch.
And so, I must travel through the teleportation portal and reach Tonia, to seek the Tears of the Gods, and deliver all of us from the clutches of the damned council.

'Brother, the ritual is now complete. You must go on your way now, before the heretics break into the chamber. May Olivia's blessing be with you.
Ego ad crepusculum et crepusculum fata mea et fides.'

Indeed. I must not let the sacrifice of my brothers and sisters be in vain. I can only trust that the main branch of our Order will enact our vengeance.

'Ego ad crepusculum et crepusculum fata mea et fides, brother. May we meet again before Olivia's graces.'

So, I passed through the glowing blue portal with the weight of the fate of my Order on my back.

And came out throwing up on the other side, in Tonia.

Something's not right. My body feels heavy and far less responsive. *Blurgh*

"Woah there! Outworlder, are you alright?"

I looked up, and saw a man covered by a large blue cloak, with a cloud motif all over, and long white hair extending out from his hood. Tag: @FlutterOfCrows

"Where... where am I? Are you with the... *blurgh*... ecumenical council, or the order?"

"You're in Tonia! Welcome to Scribel City! No clue about the order or the ecu-something council though! You should really try to stop puking in here though."

Outworlder... what the ... I thought Tonia was just to the far west of the Land of the Morning Star?

"Mhm. I'm Syn. What's your name? And where can I find a tavern with a toilet around here?"

*blurgh*

OOC: This is my first time doing a quest so please correct me if I am doing it wrong. This report is not written in the formal report format as my character literally just arrived in town and does not even know the existence of the Adventurer's Guild. Also, hello! *Waves hand* @ @FlutterOfCrows I hope this is not considered forcefully wrangling your character to do something?

Niror took a quest and was going back to the sewers, this time not for slimes! Ahaha - she was happy. She is going to hunt giant rats this time around. All she knew that these buggers were agile even though they are giant. Nevertheless, she made her way to the sewers humming to herself. Being used as a pillow and a cuddle buddy was an interesting experience, to say the least - though let’s stop thinking about that. As she smiled faintly she entered the sewers once more.

Extending her claws, running them against the wall as she scanned the tunnels for these buggers, she stopped seeing a patch of sewer slimes. She let out a faint sigh. Why always slimes, she shivered to the thought of her clothing being burned away - she still needs to buy a new pair. She looked around to see any more tunnels before slipping away from the group of slimes, she won’t be needing them… Yet at least.

So she has to kill at least twenty giant rats unless she ruins the tail somehow. She nodded to herself before she spotted her prey in a fairly small grouping of three. Must be like slimes? Though prey wouldn’t do that… So less likely the others to die. She slowly crouched down, before launching herself forward running her claws forward catching one of the giant rats before the other two quickly ran off screeching their heads off.

She sighed, they are smart and are fast. I really need to get better at killing multiple targets. She lifted the giant rat up by the tail before cutting it off at the base letting the body just flop onto the floor. Now she needs a slime for her idea to work. Lifting the body up, to find a grouping of slimes.

On her search of slimes, she was lucky enough to grab two more giant rats and their tails. Finding a grouping of slimes once more, she tossed the giant rats at them, trying to throw the bodies into the slimes so they can eat them. Stretching her hands killing any slimes that got close. Her plan of getting rid of the bodies is good - especially she can get some slime cores as well during this quest.

It took her three hours of running around getting the tails of the giant rats, then getting rid of the bodies and then killing the groups of slimes. She got ten cores from the slimes, which she could sell off right? She sighed walking out of the sewer - which now she smelled like sewer which was awful. Letting out a weak sigh making her way to the guild placing the quest paper onto the counter with the twenty tails before letting out a sigh. At least it was worth the money she will get… Right?

She once again went to the side to sit onto the ground in a dark corner away from the sunlight - rubbing her eyes slowly as she sighed. She would rather not go into the sewer any time soon - it smells and the damn slimes are annoying as spirits. Honestly! To the spirits with the sewer!

Random Egg (it might hatch!)

Flying above the river in the ravine, she wondered if someone was currently watching her. Perhaps the guild evaluator did follow her and evaluating her action right now. how else would they know that she had stayed in the ravine for 2 weeks? Remembering the disgruntled face of the guild worker who were supposed to seize her belonging when she said that she could form those from her body, she wondered if this hypothetical examiner would do so too, after knowing that she could just merge with water body and waited for two weeks?

So far, there was no disturbance to her flight. Perhaps, if she landed on the ground, she might see one. Should she just swim from this moment? She wondered if that hypothetical guild evaluator would be able to track her if she did it. Perhaps, maintaining her shape instead of dispersing in the water might do it. She should just swim on the surface, just in case.

It was just that this exam felt not like an exam. The two week might be long for the adventurer who were supposed to do their camping trip. But, she had decades of staying on her lake before, just being there without going anywhere. Though, she did not want to not actually do anything. Perhaps, she could save time by going to the bighorn mountain first.

Arriving at the end of the canyon, she saw a waterfall extending above. The next task was to climb the bighorn mountain. Thus, she just levitated herself. Looking above, she saw a colony of birds. Perhaps, that was the aforementioned Kukuu birds? Then, thinking about the quest in her mind, the next thing she needed to do was to look for the Giant variant of those birds, she guessed, and look for their nest.

Plan A - go into the nest, steal the egg, and evade the pursuit of the bird. From the top of the ravine, she had to go down, directly to the body of water in the ravine and enter it. Then she would see if the bird could swim.

For plan B... she thought, and thought. Yet, she couldn't make another plan at all. She'll just see whatever came up on her mind later, she guessed.

A giant bird was a giant bird. It was apparent when she looked close to it. The bird cawed at her, probably asking her to leave. Hovering in front of the bird, she wondered what she should do.

The bird roosted on its nest. That meant that she couldn't take it unless she made the bird move. Yet, even when she was in front of it, the bird didn't move at all.

Was the bird calling for its mate or something? She turned her head, looking for the hint of another bird. Above, below, left, right, front, and back, she didn't see any that would attack her. The bird continued to caw at her.

She didn't know what to do after this. She supposed she could kill the bird and get the egg. But somehow, attacking them felt wrong. Just a mother or father, wanting to protect their descendant. She didn't know what made their behavior like that. It was like they were a reverse parasite, where they raised the other eggs as their own. Though, she didn't know what drove them to do their kidnapping behavior. Motherly instinct? couldn't differentiate the eggs of other species, and took it to keep it safe? If they didn't kill the other species's eggs and raised them... what made them do that?

She turned back.

---

How should she complete this quest...

First, she should observe them. What kind of animal egg got stolen by the Kukuu birds around here? Stalking one, she observed how kukuu bird lived, how they looked for their prey. But, she hadn't seen any egg stolen by a Kukuu. why was it stealing eggs?

She wanted to try something. Making an egg-shaped ice, she placed it on the place where the Kukuu usually went the past few days. If the fake egg was stolen, she had her next plan.

Well... her plan was a bust. That would be too easy, she guessed. The kukuu did swoop in when it saw the egg. But, released it immediately. Masquerading herself as an egg and let her be taken was not an option, then.

she was stumped. There was something inside her that insisted that she should just leave the eggs be, and she couldn't make it go away.

Desperate times call for a desperate measures.

---

"I'm sorry."

She waited until one of the kukuu nest was empty of its owner. Stealing one, she hurried and to return to the guild and ask them if she completed the part where she had to steal the egg intact. She didn't know how to care for an egg. Temperature? Pressure? If she left it be, the egg might die. Thus, arriving at the guild, she asked for her evaluation, asking if they could hurry it up because she had to return it. After getting her evaluation, she left, returning to the mountain.

"Alright. 20 tails confirmed. though... I wonder what kind of grudge do you have against spirits?"

Rolling from under the bed, he glared at the sunlight sneaking through the gap between the curtains and sighed.

Today was his day off but he had to move. Picking up his sword and putting his cloak and adventuring clothes for what seemed like forever. He headed out.

Arriving in the forest, he found that it was hard to keep his footsteps silent when compared to the city. Compared to the set roads of the city, the forest had many things on it’s floor: dried leaves, branches, and the mud on the floor were all things to think about when moving.

But, closing his eyes he could hear all sorts of sounds. The humming of the birds, the rustling of the leaves, and the sounds of sloshing water were all sounds he was getting used to.

Soon the noises around him slowly faded away as he made it to a clearing. And, the reason why were three goblins holding what seemed to their kill. One with a crudely crafted spear, another with a makeshift club, and the last holding a sling.

Remembering what was written in the reports he headed towards the ranged one first.

Trying to circle around the group slowly, his plan quickly went up in flames as he stepped on a leaf. With the two groups staring each other awkwardly. Cassel made the first move by dashing toward the goblin with the sling.

With the group trying to quickly drop the prey to the floor and pull out their weapons. It was too late for the sling wielder as it fell to the floor all the same as soon as his sword went past it’s throat.

The club wielder did slightly better by lifting it’s club high above its head. Leaving it’s own behind.

The lance user tried to stab him but with its goal obvious. He parried it and it joined the rest. The goblins were slow, too slow. Compared to the guards the difference was heaven and earth. Their stances sloppy, their openings obvious, and their intentions too simple.

After cutting off the ears for the quest he walked back to the guild.
Summary:
-Went to the forest.
-Ambushed goblins carrying their prey back
-Killed them
-Collected the required ears and headed back to the guild

Looking at the moon light outside his room, he sighed. After the lizard's men's assistance, he had watched the spark return to the city's eyes. He had watched as the rumble of the town and the guards escorting them had slowly reappear. It looked like the city would soon bounce back after the horde.

But, he felt empty.

Why wouldn't he? His friends of this world were still struggling, there were still families mourning their losses, and here he was staying still. Why was he needed?

As a guild master, this place didn’t need him. To them he was only temporary. A decoy, a distraction, something to stall enough time for that guild master of theirs to come back. He was someone who would be thrown away as soon as they didn’t need him.

As an adventurer, the guild didn’t need him, he was only an adventurer, a disposable piece of labor for them to use.

And, as for friends... the reason was already in his hands.

Wouldn’t it be fine for him to run away just this once? Hadn’t he done enough?

Rolling from under the bed, he glared at the sunlight sneaking through the gap between the curtains and sighed.

Today was his day off but he had to move. Picking up his sword and putting his cloak and adventuring clothes for what seemed like forever. He headed out.

Looking past the gate, he felt oddly sentimental. This was the first time he would be going out of the city out of his own will. From his occasional slime relocations, his training with Felicia, or even his walk with Okarin. He never truly moved on his own. Funny that this would be what he would be doing from now on.

Arriving in the forest, he found that it was hard to keep his footsteps silent when compared to the city. Compared to the set roads of the city, the forest had many things on it’s floor: dried leaves, branches, and the mud on the floor were all things to think about when moving.

Remembering what was written in the reports he headed towards destroying the ranged one first.

Circling around the group slowly, he closed in. Dashing towards the sling holder. The one with the sling tried to react by pulling out it’s weapon but fell to the floor all the same as soon as his sword went past it’s throat.

The club wielder followed it’s friend’s end by lifting it’s club high above its head. Leaving it’s own behind.

The lance user tried to stab him but with its goal obvious. He parried it and it joined the rest. The goblins were slow, too slow. Compared to the guards the difference was heaven and earth. Their stances sloppy, their openings obvious, and their intentions too simple.

Ellania couldn't believe how easy the exam was. She casually tossed her rapier to the examiner, turned all of her pockets out, and ignored the proffered knife as she went out of the guild building and the city altogether.

*****
Fourteen days in the wilderness to get to the mountain and back. That gave her ten days to get lost with, which was more than enough for the Qliphat. Her first four days were spent going in the wrong direction, until a 'kind-hearted' bandit informed her of her folly on the seventh morning by the side of the road as she was waking up. After some horrified screaming, Ellania dropped him off at the gates of Scribel on the eighth day, and got back on track. Six days left, no more time to screw around with.

So she flew the rest of the way. After all, it was less likely to get lost in the air, since she could see the place she was to fly to, and headed straight to the mountain. What about the Ravine, one might ask?

Well, what about it?

The requirements for passing the test were:
  1. 2 weeks outside
  2. Climb the mountain
  3. Get egg
  4. Bring back egg
The objectives never said anything about having to spend time in the ravine, so naturally she didn't waste any time in there. Ellania simply just flew her way over the ravine, ignoring the wolves and other creatures prowling about below.

On the noon of the tenth day, the Qliphat touched down near the crest of the mountain. Any nearer and she'd have been spotted by the birds, and since she was going for a no-combat run having the Kuku birds come after her would be very annoying.

By the way, the incident with the bandit didn't count as combat. Not at all. She might have kicked him in the family jewels, maybe broken a bone or two, and hog-tied him tightly enough to make him lose consciousness from lack of circulation, but it didn't count as combat. Nuh-uh. Don't know what you're talking about.

"Hai hai, now let's see how to pull off a perfect heist."

She already had the plan all laid out. She just needed to observe when the Kuku birds left their nests for a substantial amount of time, in order to get the timing down. So for the next two days, she hid in the vicinity, eating wild berries and nuts, and observed the nests, taking notes on the feeding times and hunting times of a Kuku bird.

*****

"Yosh!"

As soon as the last adult Kuku bird took off, Ellania made her move. She hefted the large egg-sized object which she'd taken a while to make, and made her way over to the nests. Placing the egg against a nest so as to free up both of her hands, the Qliphat examined the contents of each nest carefully. She only needed to bring back one, but that's exactly why she was going to bring back the best one.

"Hmm, not this nest."

"Nope, too plain. I want something else."

"This won't do."

"...I'll come back for this egg if I can't find a better one. Yeesh. The loot this time round isn't that great, huh?"

She decided to hit up one more nest before making a choice. There was still enough time, but she'd rather take the egg and be gone before the Kuku birds stopped hunting for food and started making their way back. So she picked out one of the nests a bit further away and went over to it, carrying her fake egg.

"...Nngh. Poor find."

A disappointed Ellania was about to return to the previous nest to grab the relatively more uncommon egg, but stopped. Turning her head to a nest that was far away, on the other end of the ridge which the nests were built on.

...Hngh.

Something about that nest was attractive to her. What it was exactly, she didn't know. Why it appealed to her instincts, she had no idea. All she knew for certain was that if that nest was a bust, she'd have to dip and wait another day. With great reluctance the girl hauled her pretend egg over, and checked out the nest.

Five eggs. First one's a bust.

Second one, nope.

Third one, nope.

Fourth...nope. Fifth...also nope. What a waste of time.

As she was about to sigh and give up for the day, Ellania's wandering eyes noticed something. One of the gigantic eggs in the nest had hidden a much smaller egg in it's shadow. Her pulse quickened.

...Yeah, this is it. I came here for this.

A distant cry reminded her that the Kuku birds were due to start coming back soon, so Ellania wasted no time substituting the real egg with a fake one. Placing a firm grip on it and ensuring it didn't fall off, she wasted no time taking off, swooping down into the forests and ravine below, heading for the secret hole she'd camped out at the past few days. She reached it just as the first of the Kuku birds returned from it's hunt, and the Qliphat sneered before turning her full attention to her new prize.

First of all, it was small compared to the other eggs. It was also rather light, almost alarmingly so, but every so often the egg would wobble about by itself, and the surface was also slightly warm. That told her everything she needed to know about whether it was alive or not.

Next, the pattern. There were as many different patterned eggs as there were drops in the pond, and yet this egg was almost plain. It had the same shade of colour throughout, and there were no markings or whatsoever that made it stand out in particular. A deep shade of brown...almost like the shade of an aged parchment sheet. There was also that weird smell.

Oh well. I'll know what egg it is after it hatches. With all this wobbling, it's probably gonna be quite the energetic little fellow. I'm gonna have to take care of it...bah.

Grinning despite herself, the Qliphat would speed all the way back to the city in the span of a day in the air as soon as noon arrived the next day and the Kuku birds had gone out to hunt for food once more, and by evening on the fourteenth day she'd entered the city gates and made her way to the guild to turn in her report, rubbing the wobbling and still-warm egg as she nonchalantly collected her rapier from the examiner, and awaited the results.

The very first thing I do in Gelderholm after finding lodging is this - joining the military exercises to become a proper member of Gelderholm's defense. I'd rather get this over with earlier than later. So, early in the morning, I report for duty at the barracks. They don't really ask me any questions and simply are happy to have another helping hand, so I quickly put on a makeshift "uniform" which, in my case, really is more of an arm-badge showing my rank.

With that done I am immediately rushed into a makeshift group made up of various dwarves and other people from races which I'd assume to be adventurers - it wouldn't be proper to ask them now. And thus, the patrol exercise starts. In the beginning, it's all quite common stuff - the kind of stuff I already know from my time as a guard.

But seriously, it's like they are trying to get us to mess up. Like, there was this one exercise where they gave orders but we were only allowed to follow them under certain circumstances give before. Like for example, when the instructor has his arm raised. And if one person fails, everyone has to do some physical exercises - though the one that actually made the mistake has to do more. And probably receives a negative note somewhere.

As the exercises they have us do on failing are a pain, I pay a lot of attention not to mess up. But it turns out this was only the beginning! Next up come things like crawling through mud, excruciating teamwork exercises, not moving as horses are charging at us until we receive an order, along with some basic firing exercises and a bit of mock combat training. And in all honesty, even my trained physique struggles to keep up.

But, in the end, I finally manage to complete the exercise. What part of this was a "patrol exercise"!? More like, hellish training! The instructor walks up to me and hands me a slip, and my results are written down on it. Let's see...

"A coward that follows orders. Able to fight and is disciplined while his cowardice will keep him alive. A soldier that can serve well and will survive for a long time."

So, is being a coward a good or a bad thing...? Not for me to worry about, I guess... so I head to the guild and hand in my report, massaging my aching limbs as I wait for the result.

"Umm... can I know more about how you tied him? Anyway. Here's your reward. As for the rank E certificate, you can pick it up in three days time. You know, bureaucracy and all."

OOC: Please mark the quest as appraised/evaluated.

Reward: 250EXP/30G/Rank E Certificate/random egg.

It was another other region report that was somehow end up on her pile. Well. beggars couldn't be a choosers. Well... The man was able to follow orders. That should be considered competent. Well he'll pick up other skills soon enough, she guessed.

Patrol exercise, check. Competency, check. Evaluation from the other party was also good, so that one was another check for this quest. Thus, she stamped the quest with success stamp on it. Hopefully, the guild on gelderholm would remember to pay him his due.

OOC: Please mark it as completed/evaluated/appraised. Reward: 200EXP/20G

Now, time for my first fight in Gelderholm. To be honest, I don't like it here. No daylight, bad food, narrow tunnels, dreary atmosphere... yeah, I don't think anyone would like it here. But that's how dwarven cities are during wartime, I guess. I borrow a lantern, oil, and a fire striker from the guild, grab my stuff, and enter the tunnels.

Ah, yes. The narrow tunnels. I might just develop kleptomania if I spend too much time here, so let's get this over with. As it slowly gets darker, I ignite my lantern and hang it on my hip before constantly tossing out rocks into the area before me as I progress. Whenever I spot a startled rock mite rushing about I do one of two things - if it is close, I quickly draw my sword and either try to stab or cut it. If it is far, I throw a rock at it with my sling. I get them sometimes, and sometimes I don't, slowly amassing more and more carapaces in my bag.

But really, if there is one good thing about these tunnels, it's that there are rocks to be found everywhere. So I can happily practice with my sling. The carapace count steadily rises and has already reached 20 as I continue in the tunnel - until I suddenly get nervous. For no apparent reason, it would seem - hold on! There is this strange sound... where is it coming from? I press my ear on the ground and manage to pin down its source - the ground in front of me, it'd seem.

I'm curious what exactly causes it, but it might just be a swarm of rock mites hiding beneath a frail rock surface while waiting for prey to break step on it and break-in, falling right into the swarm. At least that's what I imagine it to be, so I backtrack and enter another tunnel, and after some more work, finally reach the required 30 carapaces.

Great, time to head ba- wait, what is that sound...? Oh. Oh no no no no. I can hear a swarm coming. Time to run! Put that trained body to use, Till!

...

Good thing rock mites aren't that fast. I manage to escape surprisingly easily, and after being lost for a bit also manage to find my way back to Gelderholm. Once there, I hand in the carapaces and my report.

She felt that she didn't know what she should do at the moment. While waiting for her quests to be evaluated, she wanted to just rest after her travel to the gem ravine. She has no intention to be a merchant, but the air around Asteria village feel pleasant to her. Thus, once more, she took the merchant quest.

As far as she knew, the last thief group she encountered before had not been subjugated yet. Though, hopefully she would get a peaceful journey for that day. As she arrived to the merchant guild's warehouse, she gave the worker there her quest.

Like before, she preferred to use her own body to pull the carriage. She couldn't imagine how much it cost if the horse was killed, when an old horse costs 2500G. At least, she could minimize the needless expenditure. Thus, transforming into her horse form, she set off.

---

It was annoying. The thief group from before spoiled her mood. She took a moment to observe them once again in order to find a route to break through. Once again, she looked at the space between the two horses. This time, she prepared to create an ice blade with her, to cut them as she broke through. Lining the wooden handle that tied her to the wagon with water, she moved the horse body.

She created a crescent-shaped blade in the front of the wagon. The thief immediately move out when seeing the blade. Then, her task for that moment was to rush to Asteria village, while shaking out the pursuit of the thieves.

'Don't they learn, that their horses couldn't compete against I in terms of stamina and speed?'

She wondered how long the thieves were pursuing her, as she stopped only when she reached Asteria Village. Thus, her supposed enjoyment of the countryside were ruined by the thieves.

Taking the wagon to the guild worker there, she took her proof of delivery, and went back.

She didn't care if she needed to pay guards her remaining income from the slime invasion. Taking that 60G, she hired six guard with her. With one driving the carriage for her, and the remaining ones on horseback, she expected that those band of thieves wouldn't be able to disturb her. She just wanted to enjoy the scenery in countryside. What was so hard about that?

Apparently, their persistence was. They appeared in front of her once again.

"Can I entrust this to you?" she asked the man beside her.

"you're a city guard too, you know..."

"Yeah. But that's why I hired you guys, no?"

"Honestly... I don't get you... wasting so many G for this one quest. Well, men. You heard what the lady said."

"I'm tired. I just want to enjoy the journey... is that hard to believe?"

"No.That's not hard alright."

Apparently those thieves were not a match against a group of trained guards. even with their slightly superior number, the guards were able to dispatch them with ease. They tied those men and brought them to the relay station.

Thus, finally, she could enjoy the journey through the countryside.

"Sorry to disturb~" Niv walks into the guild a bit cut up to turn in the report and the ears
so i went outside town to hunt for goblins, annoyingly coordinated as they are i figured hunting them down would be difficult. i was right, luckily i didnt run into any hordes or anything, i dont think i ran into any clan. the camp was bigger than i needed, so if anyone wants to hunt the rest down, they're located southeast to the city. i only took three goblin's lives because i dont have the strength to fight more than that, hell fighting just three was the worst. i even lured them away one at a time, shaking trees puts them on alert, and they still got me a bit. I wish i could use my guns. Long story short: I killed three but the camp may still be active.
