Having a leisure walk in the roads of the city, I noticed that caravans of dwarves were loading a large amount of sacks into their carriages. I wonder where they’re headed. I went inside the guild and looked for a decent job to do, and coincidentally enough there was a job for escorting the caravan of dwarves to Gelderholm. It’ll take over a week to get there but it seems the food expenditure is already covered by the clients.

Thinking about the dwarven city, I don’t know much about it. It’s mountainous area that is currently under threat by a large hydra; whatever that is. All this info is only based from the guild library and word of mouth.

My armor is still sturdy but it’s starting to rack up some damage, it would be best to fine an alternative incase our equipment broke. I suppose Gelderholm would be the next best option. Taking Iris into account, it’s going to be dangerous even when we get there; well not like I can do much to dissuade her. This was supposed to be the moment that we parted ways, but she remained adamant in following. Well what’s done is done.

Gelderholm it is.

I went back to Iris at the tavern and prepped up our equipment, and emergency food ration for two days worth; just in case. We met with the caravan at the northern side of the city, did some introductions with some of the adventurer escorts and clients, and then headed off towards Gelderholm.

+++++

A couple days have passed on our journey, we encountered some goblins and direwolves so far along the way; nothing we could handle. Most of the time Iris and I are sitting at the back of a carriage; enjoying the sightseeing. Well… Iris was more interested in taking care of the giant blue egg; I was just admiring the changing scenery. It was really noticeable; one moment I see a vast amount of trees then tall mountains the next. A normal travel would take one about four days to reach the dwarven city; our caravan was taking a safe route that would take us over a week to arrive.

The caravan stopped for the night near a large abandoned cave. Perfect for setting up camp with shelter in mind; each of us chose our own spot, some had tents while others didn’t; we were part of the latter.

I sat with my back against the wall while Iris drew the egg near our campfire. We were mostly quiet as the embers flickered in the silence of the night. We kept to ourselves as the others did with their own; the only time we ever tried to work together was when we only had to fight.

It wasn’t bad however I can say it was sloppy, some rushed for glory while others ignored to support those who are not of their group. There are some things though that were out the norm, when we first introduced ourselves; a women’s party would stare at us with curious eyes while the men’s casted envy towards us. I noticed that there weren’t really any mixed gender in a party. I could take a guess as to why but it never really bothered me much, as my code would enforce me to be at my utmost professional. Then again, those who have not learned professionalism will most likely mix work with relations.

“Reival, take care of blue egg. Iris hungry and want to eat.”

She handed me the egg then trotted towards a group of people, who were gathering around a person; who seemed to be cooking all the portions of food for everyone.

I slid further towards the fire, nearing it. Although I’m only placing my hand on top of the egg to prevent it from tilting, I could feel movement inside; pulsating with vigorous life. What creature may lay from this egg? Pondering my thoughts about it, I didn’t even notice was near me with two wooden bowls of soup.

“Reival here. Iris got Reival’s share.”

“Ahh.. thanks.”

I accept my portion and drank the soup from the bowl itself. It was bland but in this kind of job we can’t really be picky.

“Food not tasty….”

She drank about half of the amount in the bowl before looting one of our bags for the preserved meat I bought for emergencies. Hey….. Don’t be picky…. Well since it you, I’ll let it slide. She nibbles at the hard jerky with satisfaction at the slight trace of flavor.

As soon as she was finished, she just stared at the giant egg with focus.

“Weird blue air coming out of egg. Strange egg….”

Blue air? The egg is somehow seeping out mana? I don’t see any holes anywhere around it. Before I could ask her to clarify more, she grabs one of the cheap blankets I bought and covers herself with it whilst laying on floor with her head on my lap.

Sigh… do you really have to do this? Not that I mind it anyway.

The ember of the fire flicker as the night moves on; soon I succumbed to my own sleep.

The next morning, we all continued our journey.

+++++

It took a couple more days to get to Gelderholm but we manage to arrive. Along the way of our voyage I noticed the waters have a purple hue to them; they gave of a poisonous feel with their color. Some of the trees have darkened barks with purple leaves, like they have been tainted somehow. Most of my view was filled with mountains after mountains, but one thing that struck us the most was the giant foggy lake; the middle of it was a silhouette of a giant multi-headed beast. That must be the hydra that was mentioned in the rumors.

Going back to our destination at hand, there were a couple of dwarven guardsmen guarding the entrance to the city. The entrance was a giant gateway to the insides of a mountain.

It seems we were in luck somehow that we didn’t manage to fight a couple monsters of the hydra on the way. Gelderholm is ravaged by monster almost every day. The monsters barely give leeway to the people and the water is mostly poisoned by said monsters. The resources of the mountains have managed to give arms to the dwarves, however medicine and food are barely scarce; must be what the caravan bought from Scribel.

Going inside the city; rather than a city it’s more of a giant dome that was carved to give shape for each house. When on would need a new house, miners and architects would just craft a portion of the mountain away. From a civilization standpoint of no fertile soil it is an amazing idea, however that runs the problem of keeping the whole mountain from crashing down onto the city.

We’ll go exploring the city later, for now we have to file a report.

Greetings to you Guild

We have successfully escorted escorted the dwarven caravan onto its destination. Some problems have occurred via battle, however it was nothing we couldn't handle.

At service to you, Lancer Reival and Lady Iris

Quest Report - Okarin

Note: This quest is just grinding so feel free not to read.
Note: This also occurs before Okarin travels to Fuyu Machi.

It was the full moon.

Okarin was lying in their shack, staring at the sky, when they suddenly remarked on this.

Full moon.

Full moon...

The Moonlight Spring had some kind of special property during the full moon, right?

The crawled out from underneath a pile of leaves and stretched their arms.

Perhaps it be a good thing to check it out? Especially since it had healing properties?

+ + +

Around an hour later, Okarin strolled over to the Moonlight Spring.

How had they gotten there so easily? Well, there were two reasons why this quest was a total cheat for the slimeperson.

First, Okarin already knew where it was. During a prior quest, Okarin had paid some adventurers to show them the site of a Moonlight Spring, so finding the location itself was no issue.

Second, Okarin was a slime — a monster. They were poorly nutritious for Dire Wolves, goblins, and other forest monsters, so Okarin hardly collected the same degree of aggro that other fleshy and meaty adventurers frequently experienced. There were multiple times in the past that Okarin walked past dire wolves without the slightest degree of concern. Honestly, Okarin kind of thought they were a bit like cute oversized dogs.

Okarin would have pet them too if it weren't for the fact that the dire wolves didn't seem to like being touched.

Was it dangerous? In Okarin's opinion, not really.

What kind of wolf wanted to eat a sack of slightly acidic water?

:blob_catflip::blob_catflip::blob_catflip: Bleh!

The forest was basically home for Okarin.

Sometimes, they felt safer here than they did inside the city, where Adventurer's ran around waving swords and stabbing slimes.

+ + +

Okarin found one of the Moonlight Springs (actually, there were multiple, but they all shared the same name).

They decided to take a bath.

Cozy, right?

They started to take off their clothes...

Wait... this section needs to be censored. No peaking!

:blob_hmph::blob_hmph::blob_hmph:

+ + +

(-censored content-)

+ + +

And then Okarin finished their bath.

:blob_melt::blob_melt::blob_melt: It felt so refreshing!

Okarin made sure to absorb a bunch of the water because they felt it would be good for their mass.

Okarin collected 5 bottles of moonlight water.

They couldn't wait until the next full moon.

This was such an easy quest!

Summary:
  • Okarin went to one of the Moonlight Springs.
  • Okarin took a bath.
  • Okarin collected 5 bottles of Moonlight Water.

Although, the overall gain of the quest was a bit on the low side, I happily accepted the quest. To learn a new skill is away is welcomed and learning how to make jewellery was... interesting.

Of the list of items to be created I opted for the necklace. After I met a servant of Lady Saskia Rosenthal, I acquired an list of materials that I could use to make it. Testing the limit of influence of the Rosenthal house, I asked if the lady could sway the jeweller's guild to let me work in their workshops.

The answer was yes. In fact, the jeweller's guild was where the materials was stored anyway.

After some questions and answers with veteran jewellers I was able to pick up some understanding about jewellery making, while it was incomparable work of a blacksmith, there are many similarities. Under the name of the Rosenthal house, I was allowed many introductory text on the art handling precious metals such as gold and silver, and also various techniques and terms in the making of necklaces and earrings.

After a few days of learning, I started practicing, there was small stock of common copper and wax there, the apprentices use them to practise their craft. There was a furnace and at the workstations there were small crucible clay moulds and tiny anvils.

After making several copper necklaces and pendants, I wondered what I should make for Lady Saskia Rosenthal.

Surely nothing other than unique is needed.

I thought long and hard on then inspiration struck. The myriad of skill I know there was something, something different can be created.

So I left the jewellers' guild to gather the materials I needed. Over the next two day's I researched at the alchemists' guild, I visited the Slimecreek river and through connections with the alchemists, I learned of the glass makers of Scribel.

When I came back to the jeweller's Guild I was ready, I contacted the servant of Lady Rosenthal and acquired nothing but a small amount of silver. After many hours I was able to create an elegant silver chain, modestly crafted not to steal thunder from the pendant. Then from the depths of my bag I produce the things that would create the star to the show, a tiny glass vial, a glowstone from the riverbanks and a bottle of ink black liquid

Working with the glass makers at the glass-blowers' guild I made a small oval glass vial, hollowed like a tiny flask. As for the ink black liquid, it was a custom made mana potion that does not glow.

With magnifying glass in one eye I went to work. First I chipped the glowstone into tiny polished pieces no larger than half a grain of rice, then on a piece of silver wire that I twisted in to a pattern, I start to fix the pieces on to it. Then heating the metal pattern in vital joints I collapsed the pattern into a small tube.

Not letting the metal cool, I quickly inserted the folded pattern into the glass vial. Then with long steel pins, I unfolded pattern inside the vial with deft hands.

Exhaling sharply, I took a moment to calm my nerves.

Next was the potion. I used the skill I leaned in masonry to chip the remaining glowstone into fine specks of hexagonal stone chips, then I mixed the chips and the black potion together. Happy with the ratio, I injected the mixture into the hollow pendant.

After some to and fro I managed to affix the silver the pendant onto the necklace with an airtight seal, not letting a single air bubble reamian in the vial.

Almost done. Lastly, I twisted delicate silver floral wires, eligantly cradling the ink black pendant.

It was finished, I held the necklace in the light, pitch black. No light will make the objects with in glimmer. But when the pendent was moved be it day or night, small shards glowed, like stars in the night sky.

And when I poured mana into the pendant, the pattern within shined, it was one of the 36 Zodiac signs, Lady Saskia Rosenthal's sign, 'the singer'.

Satisfied with it, I went to deliver the necklace, I named it "The Radiance of the Songstress"

:blob_aww::blob_aww::blob_aww: "I'm truly blown away by your ability! Amazing! I'm sure Lady Saskia Rosenthal will love it."

Cizel's travel to Scribble Town (1) End (@Siostar @Generic.Archdemon )

The someone came out to greet the par, but when he noticed the ridder wasn't the horse's owner, he dictated a glance of suspicion to Cizel.

"Hello mister, I have borrowed this friend here from Zorion Orti, he said that I should leave it to the stable-master."

"Oh, I see... the stable-master is me, please wait for a moment." The man fenced a stool and helped down Cizel of the horse. The stable-master then settled the horse back to where it belongs and recommended the masked person to check the guild, maybe someone in there will treat his wounds.

Cizel nodded to the kind stranger and went into the guild building mentioned earlier. Some people stared curiously at the newcomer but they didn't seem too surprised by his strange attire.

Instead, it was Cizel who was much more surprised, the interior looked bigger than he expected and very different compared to outside. As someone who has only slept and lived in a telt, it was strange to be inside a big building he has only seen from afar.

Feeling rather lost in such an evolvement, the masked person didn't know what to do. Fortunately, a staff member guided him to the reception desk and briefly explained how the adventure guild work.

Cizel was glad for the information and thought it was indeed a good idea to earn money here, but first... he needs to get his wounds fixed...

This quest seems good - not too dangerous, great as stamina practice, and I get to know the area better. The reward isn't bad either, so time to go it is! I take the list of recipients, carefully place the packages in my bag, and get going with a light jog.

The first package isn't too far away. Great! This might be some easy money~

Dropping off the first package, I am already gone before the recipient can properly say goodbye. Gotta go fast! Gotta go fast~!

When I see the second address, I can feel my heart grow heavy and happy at once. Heavy, because it is a farm far away from the city. Happy, because it's the dear farmer I met recently. And with that fact, my intention of making this a stamina training ends and I just walk towards the farm. Hurriedly, mind you. Can't laze around when I promised I'd return early today!

It takes a while, but I reach the farm without any problems. Whew, good thing! Wouldn't want to face anyone while carrying something that might be fragile. After all, "The packages must not be damaged". And I'm pretty sure the farmer might just take my head if it were. After a few nice words, a refused lunch, and three refused alcoholic drinks, I am back on the road. Wait, what kind of address is that supposed to be!?

I turn around on the spot and return to the farmer's door. An embarrassing talk later, he tells me the way with a hearty laugh. Seems like it's not too far from here. "Just follow the road!" Excellent.

And so I follow the road. Which slowly turns into a path, trailing into the forest... bushes on the sides... thick foliage of the trees... I don't like this. It's not me being paranoid, I mean, if there were an ambush it'd be here, right? Just look at the area. Lots of cover. Rather dark. Remote. A perfect spot!

But nothing happens, and I stumble upon a fork in the road. "Just follow the road!", he said. I look to the left. The path continues on into the forest. I look to the right. The path continues on into the forest. I close my eyes and hold my forehead, slowly feeling a headache approaching. Left, or right? Left, or right?

Whatever! I draw my sword, cut off a leaf from a branch above me, and watch it tumble down to the ground. Lands on my left. Left it is! As I continue on the path, the undergrowth grows thicker and thicker, and I slowly feel like I am restricted to the path. Something snaps to my left. A rustling in the bushes.

My hand slides to my sling before I shake my head and draw my sword instead, going into the plow guard. If a beast approaches, I want my sword right in its face. Seconds pass before a tall, armored figure breaks through the undergrowth. "Give me the package, or pay with your life."

"Never!" I spit out as I bravely - no, actually, I sheathe my sword and run along the path as fast as I can. I'm not mad! Fight a fully armored guy is insanity! Good thing though is that armor is quite heavy. I should be able to easily get rid of - I look back over my shoulder, only to see him keeping my pace. Holy-!? I desperately pick up my pace. If that guy gets me, I'm dead! Deader than dead! He's gonna gut me barehanded! For breakfast! With his left hand...'s pinky finger!

I run and run, and the next time I look back I notice that he is falling behind. But how is he still keeping up with me!? So I keep running! And running. And running... my lungs burn... my legs ache... dammit! As I look back, the man is finally gone. Whew... slowing down I turn my head back to the front- and almost crash into someone! Barely avoiding him, I slide over the floor, somehow managing to remain standing. Looking up, that someone is - it's not the armored man! Thank god! Instead, it's an amiable looking old man. And a house. Where did the house come from? Wait, the address... it's the recipient!

Turning to the old man, I stammer: "A-Are... yo-you... Sir..." I go silent as I look at the name. How does one pronounce that? Ae? Aeir? Ähr...? As I look back up the man simply nods, takes the package, and points me to keep moving onwards. Remembering that the armored man is still there, I nod, warn the old man about the bandit(?), and continue on the path.

Only to arrive at the fork a bit later. Really!? It's a circle!? From then on, it's an uneventful path back to the guild where I hand in my report. I swear I'll never deliver packages again...

"It seems that you've had a rough time, Here's the reward" I feel like I recognize the man, isn't that the adventurer senpai who pranks newbies? I wonder if the newbie saw the man grinning while keeping chase with him. "It's not too safe out there so be careful." I wonder if he'll try to trick the newbie into thinking that slimes can only be defeated with splashing buckets of water at them.

Hunting stuff is easy. I've seen the scout I was a friend with do it dozens of times, either by sneaking or placing traps. Even explained it to me a couple of times, worried that I'd forget how to do it. Easy as pie, I'll be back for lunch. I grab my equipment, a bit of leftover food from yesterday, and go on my merry way. Hm... I think the north is good. Got a forest, and forests have animals. The distance isn't too far either, so... time for jogging! Gotta get that stamina up. For my own well-being! And my wife!

...

The jog was uneventful... and exhausting. I almost collapse once I reach the trees, heavily panting as I try to fill my lungs with air. Really wish... I'd get better at this already... but that's secondary, now it's about catching some animal. Time to sneak around, be careful not to make a sound...! And I keep stepping on twigs. Well. This sucks. Maybe a trap would be better... wait... how do you make those again? Do I even have the materials...? Guess not. Huh. Maybe I should have listened to my friend back then... if I can't sneak, and can't make traps, what can I do...?

Oh, I know! I didn't do stamina training for nothing the last few days. Time to show the fruits of my training! Relaxedly strolling through the forest, I keep looking around, trying to find some sort of animal to hunt - a rock ready and loaded in my sling. Something moves in the bushes, and I hurl a rock in - only to see a rabbit hopping away. That's a failure, I guess... I just gotta try until it works!

One rock after another, I hurl into the distance without hitting anything, and the few times I spot something like a deer, it quickly escapes and I fail to chase it. So much for my stamina training. I hear the sound of a twig snapping and instinctively hurl the rock into that direction. With a crunch, it impacts on a deer's leg. Lucky~!

As it tries to stumble away, I am already upon it. With my sword drawn, I go into the plow guard and thrust the sword deep into its chest, then twist the blade around. Good, it's dead. But now I gotta hurry, or wolves will arrive. I lift the deer corpse onto my back and proceed carry it back to the guild. This... is... training... as well...!

By the time I arrive at the city, the deer's wound isn't even bleeding anymore. At the guild, I hand in my report as well as the corpse. But man~ I really was lucky that no monster or such spotted me!

Lucky~!

"Painting?" Liana said out loud.

Reading the contents of what the quest entailed, Liana thought about who Lord Eugene Rosenthal was and wondered whether he would be okay with her taking this quest. Standing by the quest board for a few minutes, she eventually made her decision and took a sheet off the board and headed for the receptionist desk to gather the art supplies.
With an easel, a canvas, some paints and paintbrushes, Liana headed outside the building and headed for the noble district. Searching for a good spot to view the whole area, she eventually found a hilly point with some benches and trees dotted around and thought it was a serene and relaxing place to do her painting. Making her way there, she thought about how her years in the temple had helped her with her painting skills - constantly practising her brushwork for calligraphy when reciting scriptures. However, she had to stop such thoughts soon after reminiscing due to a severe headache beginning to form.

Reaching the little park area, Liana sat down on a bench and positioned her easel in front of her as she scanned the scenery with her night-accustomed eyes. Memorising the layout and appearances of the buildings within the Noble District, Liana dipped her paintbrush in the paint and began making her artwork.

After a few hours of focused and steady brushwork, Liana finally finished the painting and examined it for any details that needed tweaking. She'd made sure to make the scene a daytime one where the sun was beginning to set - colouring the scene with oranges, golds and reds that conveyed a warm feeling. She'd even tried to ensure that she added in some small figures of nobles and other wealthy figures moving along the streets to make the painting feel more alive.

Sitting on the bench and admiring the view while she waited for the painting to dry, Liana thought about her time in this world and how different it was from her own. Once the painting was dry, she took the painting and art supplies to Lord Eugene Rosenthal's house, where the butler Bertram guided her to a reception room to await his employer's judgment on the artwork. She didn't need to wait long since Lord Rosenthal entered only a few minutes after she'd been seated.

"An Li?" He asked with a surprised expression before gently smiling and grabbing her hand to kiss it.

"Ah, my name is actually Liana now, my lord." She replied with an awkward smile.

Eugene nodded in understanding, believing that her previous name was due to her doing a sensitive quest and smiled wryly. "I heard you painted something for my quest?"

"Yes, my lord! Here," she lifted the painting of the Noble District up and presented it to Eugene, "I painted the Noble District for you from the little park on top of a hill nearby."

The lord examined the painting with admiring eyes as he made absent-minded comments of praise about how beautiful the Noble District looked in the artwork. "It's wonderful! I never thought the place I lived could look so beautiful. I must take some time to go to that little park myself so I can see this scene with my own eyes!" He turned to look at Liana with a big smile on his face, "I thank you for this painting, Liana. It truly is beautiful."

He then proceeded to write a signed note to confirm that she had done the quest before making some small talk about some things. After a while he personally escorted her out of the house - displaying his full noble upbringing - and said goodbye. With her quest completed - and the signed note to prove it - Liana made her way to the adventurer's guild to write up and hand in her report.
Handing in her report, Liana saw that midnight had still yet to pass and so considered whether to do some more quests before summoning up the courage to return to the house.

Quest report - Okarin

Sleep deprivation. It wasn't exactly good for you.

That said, insomnia wasn't something that a person willingly controlled, and instead Okarin laid awake until the first rays of sunlight peaked above the clouds in Yato Machi. It was an a particularly unpleasant feeling... for night to turn to morning... yet to not have slept for much of it. The futon was soft, but no amount of creature comforts made this luxurious residence any more welcoming than Okarin's shack in Scribel.

The Japanese-style room felt cold and empty.

It was morning.

—Good morning.

Ah, perhaps Okarin should say it aloud. That was the polite way to do it.

"Good morning," Okarin said to the birds outside of their balcony.

They tried to smile.

There was no response.

No real surprises there.

+ + +

Okarin spent the first hour of the morning folding their futon and putting it away with their one arm.

In theory, they were still supposed to be recuperating, but that two-faced shrine maiden flying snake (seriously, those Eastern dragons? They're just flying snakes!) had politely offered to let Okarin rest a few more days before giving them chores around the shrine. Truthfully, their relationship was still heavily strained, and Okarin hated the miko in almost every way.

In Okarin's opinion, she was the type of person who smiled at you and pretended to be nice... the kind who acted cute and helpless for the sake of being cute... when in reality she was poisonous and predatory as a snake because well... (she's a flying snake!!!). :blob_hmph: :blob_hmph: :blob_hmph:

The slime person strolled to one of the natural springs on the mountain. The White River began on the slopes of the Winter Mountain, and there were many hot springs and mineral springs dotted across the slopes. Okarin walked to a nearby spring hidden behind a bamboo grove, and confirmed that nobody was nearby. They quickly removed their clothes, tucked it in a small corner, and slipped into the spring.

And no, Okarin wasn't taking a vacation.

This was serious hardcore bathing. :blob_hmph: Slime training!

Okarin badly needed to recover mass, and for a slime person that meant drinking a lot of water and eating lots of vegetation. Okarin paddled over to a patch of ivy and bamboo shoots that was growing off of a rock and they... simply... sat directly on top of it.

*glub* *glub* *glub*

*glub* *glub*

...

The slime person stared awkwardly off to the side.

*glub* *glub* *glub* *glub*

*glub* *glub* *glub*

*glub* *glub*

...

Yeah... that was pretty much it.

The next step was sit here and stare off into space nonstop for the... next two weeks...?

Just to regrow their arm...?

The training was obvious very... intense...

Well, maybe not.

But welp, that was the life of a slime, right?

Okarin stared at the wall of bamboo.

They twiddled their fingers.

+ + +

Anyhow, stuff for a quest report.

The water was... mineral-y.

Since yeah, it's a mineral spring.

It had a faint taste of mana. Lots of things in grown Yato Machi have a faint mana-like flavor.

There are these small fishies that swim around in the spring. They're too small for a person to eat, but they're cute little goldfish.

In general, Yato Machi was extremely safe. There weren't any real threats on the mountain or in the city itself.

The other thing about Yato Machi was that there were these little stone dragon statues everywhere... like little figurines.

Gaahhhh, Okarin hated those dragon statues.

It reminded them of the miko who was....

"Stupid flying snakes!" Okarin muttered aloud as they submerged their face and blew bubbles in the spring.

"Who's a stupid flying snake?" A voice chimed in out of nowhere.

"I mean those dra—"

Okarin froze.

They slowly turned their head around.

A short little girl was floating above the water and smiling at Okarin.

"Were you about to say draaa~ gon~ ?" She said cheerfully.

Okarin choked and almost bolted out of the spring.

Although they remembered at the last minute that they were naked.

"Oh, Seiryuu... Not you! Definitely not you!" Okarin mumbled somewhat non-distinctly.

"Sora isn't the only dragon on the Winter Mountain, you know~"

The Azure Dragon still had an amicable attitude.

"I thought you didn't usually come up to Yato Machi?" Okarin said, attempting to deflect the topic.

"Eh? I'm anywhere and everywhere the River is! The springs are part of the river, so of course I'm here~"

Okarin blinked a few times.

"So even the hot springs...?"

"Yup! I see and hear everything! In the women's bath houses and the men's!"

The young slime blushed all of a sudden, although they weren't entirely sure why.

"W-Wait so... so... you really see everything...?"

"Of course! I also don't mind that you're drinking my water either, although it kind of tickles a little."

"So I'm basically eating you...?!"

For some weird reason Okarin was shocked to hear this.

As a life-long vegetarian... the very concept of eating a sentient organism was equivalent to a terrifying revelation.

"It's not a big deal though, y'know?"

The little river dragon puffed out her chest.

"It's my divine duty to give life to Fuyu Machi and the surrounding villages. I protect the city, bless the rain, wash the earth, and bring water to the farms. Without me, there wouldn't be a Fuyu Machi at all! I'm pretty amazing, right? Right? Right?! I'm clearly the best Guardian!"

Apparently, Seiryuu had a bit of an ego.

"I... see..." Okarin was still stunned from shock.

So essentially Seiryuu could feel, see, and hear everything that happened near moving water in this entire region?

That posed a little bit of a problem. It was also a ridiculous ability.

Okarin was a deeply private person... especially when it came to... feeding...

Weirdly, they felt somewhat violated.

Was there really no other way for Okarin to regenerate themselves away from the prying eyes of the river guardian?

"Anyhow I'm curious about when you got here. What in the world happened to that lizardgirl? All of the bones in her body were shattered! It was really quite something. A really ugly sight to behold when you stumbled by the White River. You're an extraordinarily lucky slime!"

Memories flashed through Okarin's mind, and the slime person straightened.

They bowed deeply.

"I never got a chance to thank you for that. You saved us."

The river dragon girl shrugged, and then she grinned.

"I heard you're a little ball of trouble, aren't you? Got an entire building destroyed less than a few hours in?"

"That was an extraordinary situation."

"Hai~ Hai~ Totally believable~"

"What happened to the lizardgirl, by the way. Is she okay?"

"Hmm? You don't know her name? I would have thought you must have been close traveling companions, especially the way you painstakingly dragged her over here in her state. She was pretty much next-to-dead, you know?"

"Ah... I met her along the way. Ran into an oni. Her brother died though. I hope she's doing okay. I want to go see her later."

"Hmm... You're a weird one."

"Excuse me?"

Seiryuu did a little spin and floated in the air upside down, her hair hanging.

"You're pretty talkative right now. But last night you were gloomy. The evening before, you were bouncing off of walls from excitement. And the in afternoon you looked like you were ready to slice poor Sora up into little ribbons (scawy~!). I haven't gotten a good read on your personality~!"

Okarin stared for a bit at the river dragon's eyes.

Then they looked down at their hands.

"My personality, huh?"

"Right now, you're mellow! Mellow like Mello-rin! There's also Dere-karin, Yan-karin, Dan-karin... is there a Tsun-karin?"

"I don't know what those terms mean..."

"Mhm~ But I don't dislike the way that you are right now either~ So don't worry about it!"

Seiryuu seemed to be especially frivolous and light-hearted.

"Okay... Thanks..."

"Anyhow, I have to get going now! I just wanted to say hi to the resident herb slime! Oh, and don't eat all the plants off the riverbank! I like to keep a bunch of them around, so don't eat everything~!"

The dragon gave a quick wave and promptly disappeared into the water before Okarin could respond.

The slime was left staring at an empty natural spring at a bamboo grove on the slopes of the Winter Mountain.

Okarin blinked a few times.

And then they sighed.

With the new set of art materials and supplies in hand, Liana left the guild and headed for her next destination - the City Guard Barracks.
Reaching the area, Liana set up her easel just outside the barracks and observed her surroundings. Taking in the numerous buildings used by the City Guards, she thought back to her times of doing the exam as well as her training with Alexei and began to form an image in her mind of what to paint. Picking up a paintbrush, she dipped it into the paint and began working on her art piece with undivided attention.

After a few hours, Liana stopped painting and examined her work. Looking at the scene she'd painted, the young woman felt like there was something missing from it and pondered over what she should do to make it look better. As time passed, she determined that she needed to make the angle for the scene be higher, with more people incorporated into the piece to fully show the busy and disciplined atmosphere. Scraping away parts of the painting, she cleaned her paintbrush and began painting the scene at a higher angle.

After another few hours of painting, Liana finally stopped and observed her handiwork to ensure she was truly happy with it. The scene portrayed the whole barracks from a birds eye view at the highest roof of the buildings during sunset: a majority of the training courtyards were shown with several groups of guards training in some; other courtyards had groups of adventurers being trained by instructors; one of the buildings was the prison, with a prisoner being escorted inside by some stern-looking guards; Captain Harrison Bridger could be seen holding a clipboard and assigning some guards to different positions for the Night Watches and Street Patrols; Alexei Lebedev could be seen marching through the barrack gates towards the wall with a group of guards - no doubt to help deal with the oncoming slime horde. The whole scene was painted in warm tones of orange, red and gold - signifying the transition between day and night.

Feeling pleased with her work, Liana waited for it to dry while practising her core exercises and weapon stances for a little bit. By the time the painting was dried, Liana was feeling very tired as the sun was beginning to rise. Picking up the painting and art supplies, she headed back to the Rosenthal house to deliver her artwork.

Meeting the butler for a second time that night, they both wryly smiled at one another as different thoughts passed through both of their minds over this situation. Lord Eugene came into the reception room once again and looked eagerly at the painting, not bothered by the fact that he and Liana had spoken earlier that night. Lifting the painting up, he gasped in awe as he admired the different scenes shown throughout the barracks. He showed amazement at how busy the City Guards seemed to be and felt a deeper respect towards them for the hard work they put in to protecting the city on a daily basis.

Thanking Liana for the painting, as well as enlightening him to what the City Guard Barracks was like, he wrote a signed note confirming her having completed the task and handed it to her. Due to already speaking with her earlier that evening, he escorted her out of the house and said his goodbyes before getting ready to head off to the government building to perform his official duties. With the signed note in hand, Liana headed for the adventurer's guild to write up her report.
After handing in her report, Liana wondered whether it would be okay to return back to the house now, or whether she should push through and try doing another quest. Thinking over this, she was aware of her strength and energy being sapped away as the sun continued to rise in the sky for the day.

MG Control,

With this letter, I have assigned the information regarding the business deal with Golden Rose Syndicate. Although I have encountered significant setback from the lack of information provided by the Guild, it was not enough to offset my preparation, and in the end, I obtained the information, with the price of permanently losing the identity of Avios Crecetrax.

I only wanted one thing, and it was the information regarding Gelderholm, and if possible, the reason why Holy Human Empire tried to invade to this side of the continent. No one would believe that they were simply hunting for non-humans.

Lastly, there must be an explanation about the lack of information regarding the usage of demons.

Signed,

OOC: Solet is writing this, as the guise of being Luna. Also, Luna obtained an ancient book of unknown origin from the vault, and don't forget to give Letianna some rewards! @Generic.Archdemon

Agent,

The guild is pleased by the information you have provided. The lost of the identity Avios Crecetrax is well with in the expectation of the Guild. If you so desire the information of Gelderholm and privileged information of the Holy Human Empire, meet with your handler, he will provide you with what he knows, but no more.

And also this, MG Control is willing to say this much, the invasion of the East, the hunting of non-humans these are just words of fleeting actions, These directives of invasion and prosecution as a ideology are only as real as the word 'Holy' in the name 'Holy Human Empire.' There are players there and Kalbius is just one of many, play that game when you are ready, or die.

As for the demons, the guild is unaware of the collusion of demonic beings with the Uncrowned King, while it is not beyond expectation, it is out of character. But, if this is the case, it is possible that Kalbius is preparing for something big to break way from Imperial control or maybe something else completely. It would not be beyond the pale that the Uncrowned King have secured the object of power known as the Tears of the Gods. Be wary of this, agent.

But you need not concern yourself too much, the guild care little of te power of the count. What powers Kalbius has matter not. Everyone trades eventually, from kings to beggars, and he trades just as anyone else. And when he won't trade.

We have you.

Go prosper, agent.

Conclusion: Take quest
There was a quest hanging around to for a week guard the family of a politician from any threat. I did not need to know more than that at this time. the family was the Romani family. It was a very short term political family having only very recently risen into the political scene. From the looks of it as well he was about to be kicked out of the political scene as well. Mostly cause he was an idiot. Or at least that is what my sources from the Misers told me was true after all he'd made a policy fuck up and that is why this was put out in regards to him.

His family was a small group a wife and 2 daughters. Not very big at all for a family. All three were human otherwise I doubt I'd be the one set to guarding them. The family was quite and the air around them was a little morose but that was fine. Nothing dangerous actually happened to the family in my week of guarding them. I stayed well out of their way it was easier for us all I'm sure. My job ticked by so fast and not a single problem came to them in any way.

Before leaving town for Gelderholm. Zorion had thought to visit the Black witch of Scribel one last time. While he had mixed feeling about the witch, he must do his due diligence and pay her the proper respect. On the one hand she showed Zorion a hellish future that still occational haunts his dreams, on the other her potion turned him in to a Triton, and that gave him back his voice.

Helping her out would be in some way repaying her. Zorion was no healer and if the brewing of a potion was needed the witch would have easily made one herself. Could something be hindering her from making a potion? Zorion had to find out.

If even if I am no help at all, I can at least say I tried

When he came upon the witch's lodgings, Zorion gave the door a good knock, but the door simply swung wide, and no one came to the door.

Suspicious. he thought.

Upon entering, he saw the witch. Her head resting on the table, her breathing sharp and erratic. Something was wrong.

He looked around for clues. And spotted apples, "Hey, Bryan, do you know what happened?"

"I am not Bryan! I am Roger. Bryan IS DEAD! She killed him!"

"Ooooookay. Sorry to hear about Bryan... but what's going on?"

"Stupid human, thinks she got a headache, keeps trying to cure it. Even got people to come in to fix 'er up, But then it gets worst again. That's what YOU Get! It's karma for eating Bryan!"

"You are saying Bryan was poisonous!?"

"WHAT? Don't be DAFT! We apples are the bestest most nutritious thing in the world" *Spit* " Poison... Bahhh you go get your head checked! No! Not poison. It's karma!"

Zorion looked around the room, Shiori, seems stable, but was not exactly all together and was mumbling, "Shiori... Shiori need.."

She seems to be phasing in and out, no quite knowing what was happening.

Should I find a healer?

A potion maker would not so carelessly ingest poison, was it fumes like the quest said, it seemed too serious for just fumes... and if it was then they would have long cured it by now... unless.

"Roger, had anyone else been in here?"

"Adventurers. Like you. You lot have been in"

"No no, others. Someone else that was here, maybe when the witch went out."

Roger appeared to be in thought, and then turned to the apple next to it (OOC: HOW!?), "Hey babe, you remember when you told me someone's been in when I was sleepin?"

"I SAID. it sounded like someone's been in, I didn't see on account of I was looking the other way (OOC: ???)"

Zorion leaned in closer, "and what did it sound like?"

"Ah~They were walkin about, moving things around, then they must have stood on a table.." The apple looked towards Roger, "It was the shakin. Remember? That's when you woke up"

"Ah yeah, that's right, thanks babe *kiss*" Roger nodded remembering.

Zorion looked up at the cross beam over head. Was something there?

He gently lifted Shiori off the table so she was leaning back into her chair. And then he climbed on the table.

Something was not quite right like there was concealment magic of some kind. Throwing a orbs of light made distortions on an object hidden on the cross beam.

Drawing his long dagger, he swept the top of the beam, at first only dust fell, then a clank, something hard! A rock, no a crystal fell and landed on the table!

"AHHH!!! the world is ending!!" The apples screamed in terror.

Jumping off the table. Zorion examined the crystal, it was a dark purple and occasionally black wisps of energy seem to rise off it. He did not want to do anything inappropriate.. but when he held the crystal closer to the witch, winces of pain flashed across the her face.

"Hmm... " Promptly placing the crystal on the table Zorion smashed it to pieces with the pommel of his dagger, as the pieces started to disintegrate he gathered the residuals with wind magic and send it out the window.

Just to be safe.

When the witch woke up Zorion explained what happened, It appeared that someone with a grudge must have placed a curse on her.

But admittedly smashing the crystal was a bit reckless. But the witch did not seem to mind. In fact the whole curse things did not seem to bother her as much as Zorion thought it should.

The witch simply ushered him away, and was busy with a new idea.

  • Go to the copper mine shafts.

Gelderholm copper is some of the finest in the continent.
Good bronze starts with excellent ore, unblemished in quality.
These ore veins are this heart of the city, but they are unusually quiet.
With the war underway, the mines are short of manpower.
Beware of cave monsters in the tunnels.

Arriving here on Gelderholm, we both immediately sought a shelter to vacate; to which our surprise was the cost of expenditure. It was understandable due to the ongoing war of the dwarves. Moving on to other matters at hand, the city itself is rowdy and bustling with constant noise of either drunkards or work.

To get a better understanding of city, it was best to do some local work. Heading over to an established guild, we picked up copper mining and headed to a mine shaft.

Arriving there, miners would come and go; pick and drop pickaxes along the way. We grabbed our own pickaxes and headed into the mine.

As we walked in the tunnels, rocks and ores being dug out reverberated through the tunnels and the only light we ever saw was either powered by oil or torches. Since there were no railroads for a minecart, I had Iris carry a wooden box for now. Seeing a good spot on one of the walls, we started mining away. Digging into the tunnel walls, I could see a rusty colored vein; thinking it was copper, I mined away.

Looking at the piece of chunk I mined, anywhere I looked at it always gave of that rusted look. I had to mine more of the same quality while Iris gathered the lesser ores that I didn’t bother looking at.

I got tired and had to switch with Iris for now, it didn’t take long for her to get tired though so I had to switch with her; despite me not having enough rest. I lost track of time when I finally got the last pure rusted ore for the job; with this we have five pure rusted ores and a box full of mostly rusted ores.

We head back to the guild and submitted the pure ores, the box of mostly rusted ores along with a report.

Greeting to you Guild

We have partaken onto a task that requires the provision of excellent copper. I offer these five pure looking copper ores along with a box of mostly pure copper ores, and hope they are deemed acceptable.

At service to you, Lancer Reival and Lady Iris.
