You should really write a textbook on herbalism someday! The guild library could really use it. Of course, it looks like you're incredibly busy, and I'm sure you have so many things to do.
"Hmm...I don't have a book on herbalism ready, but I do have a manuscript done by the urging of...ah, it matter not, but let me polish it when I have time."

Due to the Worldshift, the national museum caught on fire and collapsed.
We lost many precious treasures, historical artifacts, and manuscripts.
Recently, we rebuilt the museum and library, but it's empty again.
Please help us re-establish our collection and maintain the library.

Art of Montante, Chapter 1Mundane Skillbook
"This is a book of Destreza. Just not what some 'masters'..."
Part of a treatise written by Eochaidh O'Byrnei, a veteran adventurer of the Archipelago in the days before the Worldshift in the usage of Greatswords, particularly the Montante. He had no intention of passing what he knew down through manuscript but was urged to do so through the persuasion of patrons from House Getendmark.
This chapter highlights a number of basics and focuses on the usage of the Montante in one on one combat.

Please! You need to help me! My spouse was on an airship when the Archipelago isekai'd.I know a lot of people say I should give up... but I'm 100% sure they're alive! They're out there somewhere! Drifting on a life raft... I'm absolutely sure of it!The voice in my heart is never wrong! Please, you have to save them!

Day 1: I flew around the first sky island and found no signs of a life raft.
Day 2: I flew around the second sky island and found no signs of a life raft.
Day 3: I flew around a third sky island and found no signs of a life raft.
Days 4-12: I flew around several islands before determining there were no life rafts in the vicinity.
Day 13: With my preliminary search complete, I changed tactics and used my sound magic to listen out for any signs of life or crashed airships within a few miles' radius of the sky islands. After flying around for several hours, my efforts finally bore some fruit. I flew to Terra Nova where I came across a crater in a plain with debris scattered all over the place. Such debris included multiple life rafts that seemed torn up by some kind of magical storm or from the impact of crashing, though I could only assume it was the former due to most passengers being present within the vicinity. I used my sound magic to listen out for any abnormalities within the area before finding a series of bodies of varying races and ages. The night was drawing near, thus paused my search for the day.
Day 14: With the coming of the new dawn, I scoured the area for signs of movement before discovering a trail leading away from the crash site. It looked to be not recent - as was the crash site. As such, I ventured forth and followed the trail in the air while continuing to use my sound magic to detect any irregularities.
Day 15-19: I followed the trail for over one hundred miles before finding signs of recent activity. There were remnants of a campfire along with several skeletons of small creatures - no doubt this was how they'd been surviving when their supplies had run out. I picked up the pace and attempted to catch up with the survivors.
Day 20: In the early afternoon, I finally came upon the survivors. I carefully introduced myself while lowering their guards - demonstrating my lack of hostility towards them while displaying my guild card to further placate their wariness. Among them was a young man with a wedding ring. He seemed to examine it on a frequent basis as his companions reprimanded him whenever he did so. After asking him why he kept looking at it, he explained how he was worried about his wife who he'd left at the Archipelago while he went on a business trip on the airship. I told him of the quest I was undertaking, to which his eyes brightened up as he whispered to his ring in thanks that his love prevailed and his other half was listening out for him.
Over the next few weeks, I helped escort them to the crash site where we found a mostly intact life raft for them all to sit in. I then used my wind magic to carry them back to the sky islands. Once landing, the man went out to find his wife at his home and reunited with her.

I took the liberty of borrowing a map from one of the survivors so I could mark out the location of the missing airship. Said map has been handed in with this report.
Anya entered the guild and efficiently handed in a report written in neat handwriting by a quill pen. She stood confidently with a small smile on her otherwise frozen face, "I'm here to give my report on a quest I undertook. Here are my findings." She gently placed the report, quest slip, and an altered map on the desk as she waited for an evaluation. While she stood and waited, she observed her surroundings and mused over the sky islands she'd flown around, wondering if she should investigate their potential to cause problems for Roost, or not.

Anya stared at the quest board before glancing at a particular one:
Rescue Those Poor Souls!
  • Sponsor: Adventure's Guild
  • Location: Slime Rock (Aerelieth)
  • Prerequisites: Can Provide Transportation for a Party of 6 or more
  • Locate and rescue the stranded adventurers on Slime Rock
"Please, can someone get us off this place? There is so much slime here, and I want a shower!"
- Send by Adventurer Luna's Butterfly -
She thought about it for a few minutes, weighing out the pros and cons of doing it. If she did it, she could gain more information about the guild and these sky islands. However, they could attack her due to never seeing her kind before, or even consider her a novelty to make into a pet. She'd been listening in on a lot of people's conversations as she walked by them - as well as noticed their stares behind her back. After much consideration, she determined that she could simply leave the adventurers alone if they threatened her safety - after all, she could fly while they could not. No one would know she had disposed of them if they pointed their blade at her.

As such, she took the slip and flew off the sky island she was on and headed for the one called Aerilieth.

I flew over to the sky island called Aerilieth and searched for the landmark named Slime Rock. I got a map out I had borrowed from one of the survivors of my previous quest and looked for the landmark's position on it. Eventually, I located it and flew in that direction.

The area was surrounded by a dense forest, with slimes traversing the land and rocks of the mountain piercing through. I made my way through the air and used my sound magic to listen out for any cries for help. As such, I eventually heard twelve pathetic cries and shouts coming from one particularly prominent rock. I flew in that direction before coming face to face with twelve people of varying races. I stared at them and they stared back, wary of one another.

I eventually showed them my guild card and gaged their reactions before finding their slightly hostile gazes softening to ones of fawning. I paid it no heed as I asked them if they were the ones who set up the quest to which they nodded eagerly. Observing the situation they were in, I used wind magic to whip the slime off their bodies before creating a path for them to climb down. As they made their descent, I fanned my wings at nearby slimes to push them away so as not to hinder my charges' progression.

After several hours, the twelve adventurers finally made it down from where they had been and were safely several miles away from the slimes. I then escorted them out of the forest while keeping an eye from the sky for any possible dangers. Once we left the forest, we travelled to the city of Aerelieth before reaching the guild building for this sky island. They gave their thanks for my help before leaving to hand in their own quest reports for whatever their own quest had been that brought them to Slime Rock. I parted ways with them to make my report.

Anya stared at the receptionist and smiled as she handed in her report. She stood calmly as she waited for her evaluation.

Anya glanced at the quest board and saw an amusing quest:
Baa~ Baa~ Black Sheep
  • Sponsor: Local Ranchers
  • Location: Zara (Sky Archipelago)
  • Prerequisites: N/A

  • Become a shepherd for a week.
  • Protect the sheep.
The rolling hills of Zara might be idyllic, but the island is severely underpopulated.Sheep outnumber human beings over 900 to 1, and we really need more shepherds.Come help us out! Protect our sheep from the monsters that prey on them!
The corners of her lips perked up as a light giggle escaped her, "They actually have such requests? And here I thought there would be extermination requests for the local wildlife, followed by subjugation of the local races before decimating the land." She picked up the slip before heading to the building that housed information on a variety of things. Since these sky islands were not of her world, she needed to research about them from the source itself.

After spending hours perusing through documents in audio form, she finally left the building and flew off towards Zara.
I reached the sky island of Zara and met up with an inhabitant, detailing my quest to them. They told me a few things before they pointed to a location on my map and sent me off with naught but a primitive looking wooden stick. Disregarding the stick but still taking it along on my person, I flew to my designated spot and took in my surroundings.

Day 1: I first flew around the perimeter of what had been assigned to me before I began singing a sweet song while infusing my sound magic into the melody. I expanded the radius of which creatures of all types could hear it before I beckoned them with song to come to remain in my territory. The fluffy creatures called sheep all maintained a calm disposition as they grazed without a fuss, enjoying my constant singing. This day passed without any disturbances. As such, once evening approached, I guided the sheep with my voice to the building I was informed of for them to sleep in. I then sang a lullaby to them causing them to all calmly fall into a deep slumber without any resistance.

Day 2: I woke at the crack of dawn and sang to the sheep to guide them obediently out into their pasture. I patrolled the area while flying and singing, ensuring no predators or other dangers arrived. This day passed by much like the previous one, thus there is not much more to report.

Day 3: I performed the same actions as the previous day except for one difference: several wolves had congregated outside my perimeter while eyeing up my charges. I observed them for a few hours until they decided to make their move. Thus, I took out my sword and slashed at them all with ease; cleanly cutting their heads off in one fell swoop before I shook my weapon to remove the blood. The rest of the day proceeded like the previous so there is no more to report.

Day 4: Nothing extraordinary occurred on this day, thus things proceeded like the first and second day. Nothing more to report.

Day 5: It was before dawn when I detected movement surrounding the building the sheep were residing in. I flew into the sky to observe the situation, only to discover several humans carrying nets and those wooden sticks. Sinister expressions were on their faces as I watched them inch closer to the entrance to the building. I didn't allow them to get any further as I sang the same lullaby I had for the sheep with my sound magic. The result: they all fell asleep. I thus gathered them all together before tying them up quite securely. I took the liberty of hanging them from the roof and watched as they dangled in the air, unable to escape. The rest of the day went by smoothly so there's no more to report.

Day 6: My prisoners made a small fuss but were quickly silenced by a mute spell I placed on them. The rest of the day went on pretty smoothly with no predators making trouble or any sheep escaping. Nothing more to report.

Day 7: Some sheep from another pasture entered my region. I kept my eyes on them and waited for their shepherd to retrieve them, only for no one to appear. After waiting until dusk, I decided to communicate with the sheep to ask them where they had come from before I promptly ordered them with song to return to their proper place. The night passed by without any hindrances while the prisoners had worn themselves out from silently shouting, thus the rest of this day went smoothly.

Once the week was over, the shepherd I had spoken to before came over and was surprised I had successfully managed to retain every single sheep, wrangle several sheep hustlers and detain them, while also protect the sheep from the pack of wolves. When he'd heard of the stray sheep, I noticed a slight blush on his cheeks before he coughed. I did not point this out to him as he simply thanked me for the hard work before taking the stick back and sending me off. I then returned to the guild to hand in this report.
Anya handed in her report and waited for it to be evaluated.

Kafka looking over the piled up stacked of report, and signed deeply. Look like today will be a long day, as her little 3-day vacation from work has caused a traffic jam on her desk. She really need to catch up on these reports. "Where is that caffeine-addicted lady when I needed her....?"

Reading over the three report, she realized that not only she was behind on her work, some lazy bastard may also have pushed these papers over to her. Lucky for him, Kafka was pretty interested in the Terra Novan that has show up recently. It is not very often that a Lowlanders registered as an Adventurer, not as early as this, as even the Ambassador from a nearby regions still haven't decided to publicized the relation between them and Sky Archipelago.

Dear Miss Featherdown, welcome to the Archipelago! I hope your first impression of us was favorable to you, especially when we just appeared unannounced in your world.

Now, onto your report, I have to said, I am very impressed with your result. To be fair, Mr. Nathan's wife has started to losses hope after 2 weeks of nothing, and we has prepared for the worst. Needless to said, your wonderful discovery of Mr. Nathan and his crew, not only alive, but well and suffered minimal damages was the best news the thought-to-be-widow has ever heard!

Your reacquisition of the map, as well as modification of it was very well received too, as with this, we can began the process of salvaging and recovering the ship, as well as narrowed down the search zone for half a dozen other still missing ships.

Ah! On the behalf of Sir Gawrgaru as well as the guild, I offered you our greatest appreciation for taking and spledishly completed this quest. One of the member of this stranded party is Lady Luna, the fiance of Sir Gawrgaru, son of the esteemed Duke Grogar, the man the was one regarded as the best military mind of this generation, in case you were unfamiliar with our politic here.

It was a convoluted mess, as there was a serpentine monster that can shapeshift took the form of the stranded Lady Luna and fooled Sir Gawrgaru, and resulted in a battle where some part of the red light district was destroyed in a fire. Luckily, the monster was detained, and is currently being under the supervision of the young nobleman, much to the controversy of the situation.

I have heard the high praise of the shepherd for your job on this quest, Miss Featherdown. In fact, he even send us a compliment letter, and asked us to increased your reward for this quest, due to your success in detaining the sheep-nappers. Due to the worldshift, we have receive much more of these, shall I say, boring and undesired quests from the local, so it is a big relieve, both for us, and for the people, that someone decided to take these.

P/S: I am very curious about your rumored heavenly voice, as well as the divided songs of your. If you have some spare time, I and sure that the tired adventurers of the guild would love if you can revitalized them, even just a little with your melodies. I myself are also very interested too...

Guild's Receptionist,
Kafka Leonar

Reward:
  • 15 Golds ( 10 Golds from Distress Call, 50 Silvers for Black Sheeps)
  • 200 Golds from Rescue Those Poor Souls (on the courtesy of Sir Gawrgaru for rescuing his fiance)

Relevant chapter 1

Ascalio brought forth a book and a small badge bearing three flowers in a triangular pattern, the symbol of the house of Zarăscu.

The book's preface reads the following:

"The Eight Roses of Knowledge", also known in the form of an anthology by the name of "The Source of the Correct Conduct", is a collection of books outlying the eight fields, or roses, that any learned man from the Principality of Zara should know about. The book is written by the scholar Shahit Rashar, recounting the practices and knowledge he was able to experience during his travels on the then Principality of Vasilea. Written in a dialectical style in the same manner he would recite down to his apprentices. The present is the first volume of the collection, the White Rose of Etiquette.

Excerpts:

On Greetings

The exchange of greetings is an oft overlooked, but profoundly essential to the establishment of proper conversation. The root of proper conduct lies within knowing how to perform a proper greeting, and the root of a proper greeting is properly observing the two layers of a greeting.

Firstly, one must observe the relation between both parties, as the depth to which one must perform their greeting varies according to the relation between each one’s rank. Never should a gentleman bear arms in front of one's superior, nor should he touch their arms, if any, when in front of one's lesser. Nor should a lady be found wearing a hat when greeting another, with the exception of those who are still maidens or have been made widowed, and also those who hold ranks that are not of dowager origin depending on the situation.

One should judge whether to simply lower one’s head, bow or kneel when greeting their counterpart, never raising one’s gaze until the greeting is completely voiced and after that to never avert one’s gaze. Eye contact demonstrates sincerity of mind and spirit, therefore is something that should never be denied to one’s superior lest you risk offending them. In addition, one should kiss the hand whenever offered, regardless of the offeror.

Secondly, one must clearly communicate the tone of the conversation, so that the other party may adjust their expectations and tone accordingly. When delivering news of certain gravity or that you know are to cause unpleasantness or discomfort on one’s counterpart, then the usual presenting of one’s name should be forgone unless the other party asks for it. Otherwise, one should always present their name first as an act of sincerity for starting the conversation.

Additionally, when delivering trivial news or when striking idle chat, one should always have gifts on hand to offer to the other party as a sign of friendship and gratitude for them choosing to use their time in the conversation. Such gifts are to always be reciprocated in kind.

When delivering good news and when striking joyous conversation, the exchange of names should always be followed by a bout of pleasantries until both parties are sufficiently satisfied.

[...]

On Gifts and Offerings

The act of exchanging gifts and the act of making an offering are vital concepts to be understood, as they make an essential part in basic courtly etiquette. Gifts are to be exchanged often and in abundance, both to express one’s generosity and to express one’s appreciation. It should be always a two sided affair, as all presents should be reciprocated in kind in risk of offense.

As gifts are a way to convey sincerity and strengthen bonds, monetary gifts are generally frowned upon as they are seen as a show of dismissal of deeper thought and consideration in what is being given and are often used as a means to politely insult others, specially when given in reciprocation.

The making of an offering is most often an one sided affair, as it is usually made in response to an offense, real or perceived, in order to lighten the mood between both parties. It should also be made in expectations of a first meeting as a show of sincerity.

It must be noted that any gift or offering should never bear any likeness or association with the giver, as the purpose of them is to appease the receiver. The exception being that of gifts or offerings in the form of products originating from one’s land or estate, which can be gifted freely, and are even encouraged, however only when meeting in person or when sending a representative of comparative standing. To send such gifts indirectly or to delegate the task to someone of lesser standing is to offend the receiving party.

Link to freestyle rp of quest

Clarice sent off her screenplay to the theatre before writing a report for the guild:
Wrote a screenplay of a musical involving a student down on their luck with money and needing to earn some cash quickly to pay for their tuition fees. The plot involves the student encountering colourful personalities as he tries to take on odd jobs that give a quick turnaround. At some point, the student ends up getting caught up in a museum heist that results in the members all running away after stealing precious artefacts and paintings worth exorbitant prices.
A romance soon occurs where the student falls in love with a male member of the group, only for that member to be in love with the female leader of the group, while the leader of the group fancies the student.
Antics follow on where the love triangle causes problems that lead to them almost getting captured by the authorities with many dance and song numbers that reflect that.
Musical ends where everyone escapes except the student who gets caught and arrested for their crimes, only for the leader and love interest to save him and end up in a three-way love relationship as they elope to another country and continue to commit crimes together.

Screenplay has been sent to the theatre and addressed to Duke Vale.

Clarice waited a few days after sending the screenplay before she tentatively entered the guild building and handed in her report. She hoped that she had given the Duke enough time to have seen her work so she didn't make a fool of herself in front of the receptionist. She would have waited longer but she had no money at all now. She'd even resorted to foraging in the nearby forest!

As such, she looked a little haggard while waiting for the receptionist to evaluate her report. Inside, she was begging for it to be accepted so she'd have some money finally.

The receptionist hands a letter to Clarice and gives her a slight smile.
The contents of the letter are:
Dear Clarice
For a first time writer you have written a wonderfully entertaining piece, Sadly the musical aspect of the play isn't that great. Nevertheless the cast found your play fun and want to try it out, So I extend an invitation to you to join the crew at Danelaw Island to work on improving the musical pieces of the play along side the Everglow Theatre.

Sincerely
Duke Vale

Quest Evaluation

Lucia read over the submitted quest report, wondering who or what a "Fal'kianour" was. Foreigners had an interesting vocabulary, and Lucia always found it intriguing to identify unfamiliar words that they used.

Lucia also quietly took note of the fact that this adventurer named Dew Winter also possessed a private coffee stash. This was valuable and important information. It also seemed interesting that the university had this interesting device called 'camera' that Lucia wasn't very familiar with.

Other than this, it seems like this adventuring party discovered a bunch of plants. Unlike a certain herbalist of the guild, Lucia wasn't very good with plants, and she had the opposite of a green thumb. Pretty much all plants looked the same to her, and in fact in her hometown, all vegetables were called "Green Vegetable" (青菜) if it was green, leafy, and edible. It was actually really difficult to translate from her hometown dialect because a lot of plants were green and leafy, and people wanted to know what her parents used to cook for dinner and all Lucia could say was that they were green vegetables......

Rewards:
  • 15 SP
  • A basket of vegetables native to Sky Harbor from the farmer's market

"Hmm...I don't have a book on herbalism ready, but I do have a manuscript done by the urging of...ah, it matter not, but let me polish it when I have time."

Weeks later

Sky Archipelago Royal Museum

  • Sponsor: Adventurer's Guild
  • Location: Sky Harbor (Sky Archipelago)
  • Prerequisites: N/A

  • Work at the royal museum and library.
  • OR: Donate something to the museum.
Due to the Worldshift, the national museum caught on fire and collapsed.
We lost many precious treasures, historical artifacts, and manuscripts.
Recently, we rebuilt the museum and library, but it's empty again.
Please help us re-establish our collection and maintain the library.
"Right, here was that thing I promised..."
Art of the Montante, Chapter 1 by Eochaidh O’Byrnei

Seen some system talk recently, so let me place this as a joke.
You have gained x1 [Art of Montante, Chapter 1]

Art of Montante, Chapter 1Mundane Skillbook
"This is a book of Destreza. Just not what some 'masters'..."
Part of a treatise written by Eochaidh O'Byrnei, a veteran adventurer of the Archipelago in the days before the Worldshift in the usage of Greatswords, particularly the Montante. He had no intention of passing what he knew down through manuscript but was urged to do so through the persuasion of patrons from House Getendmark.
This chapter highlights a number of basics and focuses on the usage of the Montante in one on one combat.

Read this book? Y/N

You have consumed x1 [Art of Montante, Chapter 1]

You have learnt the [F-Rank] skill, [Montante Basics]
Quest Evaluation
Lucia's brain hurt after reading the first chapter of Eochaidh's textbook. She was glad that she was not a swordswoman because she probably would have tripped over her one feet and sliced her own hand (OOC: Which I've done in wushu, once upon a time, incidentally... I have a scar from it...).

Although she had never held something like a Montante before, Lucia could only assume that it was very heavy. That said, Luxia had always privately held the opinion that spears and polearms were superior to swords, and she always thought weapons like the Guandao (关刀) were extremely cool...

If another lifetime, Lucia would love to learn how to use a naginata, but the dull life of a receptionist was too draining and Lucia had no energy to exercise like a proper person.......

Rewards:
  • 15 SP
  • A request to visit the Sky Harbor city guard to give a lesson to the guards

Relevant chapter 1

Ascalio brought forth a book and a small badge bearing three flowers in a triangular pattern, the symbol of the house of Zarăscu.

The book's preface reads the following:

Excerpts:
Quest Evaluation:

Lucia read over the book submitted from the House of Zarăscu. Aristocratic etiquette in the principality of Vasilea was fascinating, and Lucia was too much of a commoner to understand the details of such pomp and circumstance. That said, it would certainly be a worthwhile addition to the library, at the very least if only for adventurers and commoners to gawk at.

One particular line caught Lucia's attention:

To send such gifts indirectly or to delegate the task to someone of lesser standing is to offend the receiving party.

Would it be considered offensive to send a random stranger to deliver a bottle of wine?

It was a mere curiosity, and Lucia certainly did not understand the nature of these things well enough. For that matter, Lucia was very bad with gifts. In her hometown, it was customary for visitors to bring a gift when visiting someone else's house. However, Lucia felt as though all gifts were given for a reason, unless it was a gift for a lover or family member (in which case, gifts could be frivolous). Giving a gift for no reason would naturally make Lucia agonize over the meaning of a gift, as a gifts were as much of a form of symbolic communication as any other letter or correspondence, but Lucia was not an artistocrat, and she did not fully understand these customs.

Rewards:
  • 15 SP
  • A gift... a book of pressed flowers? Lucia found something random in the guild's vault and included it with the evaluation.
