Angst or Fluff? And why?

For me, it's angst because it makes me attach to the characters and the novel more.

Prefer fluff because way too many authors fuck up angst. It's like reading a 15 year old's tumblr blog.

Though... Is anyone actually going to pick angst? It's kinda like asking if someone wants Coke or 'knock-off Pepsi'. Angst is a negative term, so most everyone is automatically going to avoid it.

I'd say both actually, as long as both are done nicely. I like angst because I like to see the characters struggle. And I like fluff because it just makes me feel good.

Yep, I need pain and tears and suffering before than fluff. Or even better if it's fluff then angst then again fluff.

Depends on the genre, but in general: both.

Fluff (or the stuff happening in the downtime) is what makes you care about the characters, angst is what creates the stakes and drives the story.
Though that said, SoL or similar genres also work fine with lesser stakes...

Angst is already edgy Teenager territory, and if done wrong it only turns into cringe. And too much cringe leads to people writing 'Youtuber' in their career surveys. Thus Angst leads to cringe, cringe leads to decline and decline leads to a post-apocalyptic world where the internet got sentinent and eradicated humanity to rid itself of angst and cringe.

All fluff leads to is people fluffing the fluff out of you.
