Are people afraid to write reviews?

Nah, it's work and people are lazy. It's even more work to write a well thought out considerate review.

I probably wrote like one review per 100 stories I've read. Which is a similar ratio to the amount of stories that actually get finished.
Write more reviews so that we get more completed stories!

I slowly been writing reviews, partly because there have been occasion where my decision to read a story has been whether the reviews seem interesting. Saying that, I'm pretty bad at reviews, pretty much "Hey I liked it", "This was neat", "Give it a try if the X, Y, Z seem interesting".

But yeah, for me not writing reviews is mostly because of laziness, time required, effort, can't remember story well enough, not feeling, can't write a review I'm happy with or I just don't want to.

I like to write reviews and have written tons of them, just started on here so my count is pretty low on this site, like Daitengu said it's work and most people don't want to do extra work. Also lots of people are shy and don't want to interact with anyone and let me tell you some authors will hound you if you leave a less than glowing review on their work.

It's a possibility. For me personally, I have no problem writing a review, or even just commenting on a story. If I really enjoy a chapter, I'll leave a thought, and if I see flaws or any problem, I'll point it out and offer some advice.

But words can feel impersonal, so for some people, it can be difficult to express their thought and opinion in text form. And others might be afraid that the latter will *hurt* the writer, so they refrain themself from leaving review or comment. The truth hurts, that is true, but constructive criticism can also be of great help, so I see it as a necessity, and an inevitable part or being a writer.

And lastly, a review should also be written once a story is completed in full, which is not always the case on here, or on any similar sites.

So I hope my answer can shed a bit of light on your inquiry,

Kindly, Rin.

To get another type of answer, you can conduct a small experiment. Make a free review thread and keep it operating for at least a week.

Most people just want to read and enjoy it, like most people just want to watch a movie when they go to the theater. I highly doubt most of them go to review sites to leave their opinion, they just watch it and go home. So, pretty normal I'd say.

It feels far too formal for me to write something out. The few times I do is because it's one of the greatest pieces of literature I've ever read and feel that more people should give it a chance(which is why I always bring up The Chrome Horde by Konstantine Paradias, a.k.a. Wose [look it up on RR or here SH]). Or a trainwreck that I am morally obligated to prevent anyone else from suffering(like a certain slave harem that I won't mention by name so people won't find it. seriously, if you want plot, just watch a nature documentary).

I am too lazy to write reviews because most works on SH are very long and are not for my taste of choice, so yeah
