I have an idea I want to pursue, and if I can have it my way, I won't be focusing a lot on the violent side of the action, but I'm not sure a story of this nature will generate the kind of readership I'm looking for. What are your thoughts on this?

It depends on how 'pure' the slice of life needs to be for you.

"Beware of Chicken" and "The Wandering Inn" are considered heavily slice of life and are very successful. My story, "No Need For A Core?", also has a lot of slice of life elements and is at least a little successful. But all of them do have some level of tension and combat, even if that it a minority of the story content.

In the seas of badly written LitRPG slop on the other site and the whole isekai adventure thing, probably not many.

But you might find a lot of romcom slice-of-life fiction outside of here, but it's guaranteed being written NOT in English.

Absolutely. However success is dependent on more than your genre. If your plot tired and cliche and your characters are flat and wooden then it won’t matter if you’re writing slice of life or gothic horror you won’t have success. Also make sure to take a balancing act with fan feedback. You will not get a 100% positive feedback you will get one star reviews and reviews saying that they don’t like you’re writing. But if you’ve got more 4-5 stars than 1s then you’re fine. It’s good to write for an audience but make sure you’re also writing for you and the story you’re trying to bring to the world. Don’t burn yourself out.

I managed to hit Trending #1 a few times with State of the Art, and it's slice-of-life as heck.

What you're measure of "success" exactly? Because if it's making money off of it, pirateaba's The Wandering Inn is certainly succesful in that regard.

Bookshops And Bonedust and Legends And Latte by Travis Baldtree are cozy-fantasy / slice-of-life and they're very popular.

Google for some of the best slice of life novels and you'll see quite a few examples. I always say if you want to get the best help for writing elements, read the classics. (or re-read the classics, if you were lucky enough to land some of these great books in high school Lit).

Very nice!

Well, writing is easy, and it's fun. But I want to make some dough, ya know?
