I forgot how it's called but I used to really like it as a kid. There was a story about how an old man convinced his middle-aged neighbour to not buy grass that grows short but mow it instead. There was also a story about how a middle-aged man took care of an elderly lady and they ended up falling in love(?), and then she died of old age. There were also short stories about teenagers or kids doing their thing.

You might be better off trying to post this at the forum over at goodreads, but do you remember if it was illustrated/targeted for kids, or if it was for adults that you read as a kid? It might also be a flash fiction collection, though I don't think I've read that one before. If you could describe the cover (if you remember it), that might be helpful as well.
