So, I allowed myself to finish a book without editing it every day, and now I am like:
It is done, right? Move on, write something else. Just do it, Dora.
Have you gotten the same lack of motivation to edit a complete book?

Not a complete book. But yeah editing can kill all motivation at times.
I find it completely opposite.. idk why.. but the fun to create an ever evolving work is attention grabbing and fun. I rephrase and do multiple edits of a few paragraphs and see what suits my vision best.. sometimes I find that my third revision was the best sometimes the first sometimes nothing works and a rewrite it completely..

As a famous person once said..
"Innovative approach comes with experience and countless tries to achieve a better outcomes than the previous one"

I usually edit after I finish a chapter. I don't write the whole thing first and then edit all of it later. That sounds like a real pain in the ass. That's why I don't think much of it. It's simply part of the process.

This is why I read and re-read my book even months after I published a new chapter. I always find things that need improving. I'm set to finish the current arc and start a new edit run with all the stuff I've noticed in mind plus some reader's suggestions. I want it to be the best possible before I print that thing down.

I give it a light one after writting, then another one when I post it on patreon.... and the last one is from my readers noticing things I miss....

The last last one will be when I go back to reread it....one day...soon.... I promise!

All I've been doing for the past two years is edit and it is so draining. I love writing nonstop without control but I pay for it with having to edit so much. Don't give up but it is common. You just got to push yourself.

It's the reason why I'm stuck currently. I just don't have motivation to write because a creativity draining job and the relentless "this sentence sucks" feeling. Sure, plot is there in my mind, but words don't come because I want to edit it.

Also, I need to fix the chapters I've wrote too, but it's a hassle too. So, it's yes.

I spend around 5-15 hours depending on chapter for writing and editing, it genuinely is draining but after seeing it out in the open it helps a little, in a sense like "Fuck yeah this is finished"

I am fortunate enough that I have two lovely editors that I get to argue with all the time.
They volunteered to do it. While I can edit my own works, I catch the really grievous things and miss the smaller edits.
Between the both of them, they get most everything so I am content to post when I go through the suggestions.

Yes it does kill my motivation occasionally but it is definitely rewarding. Especially when I see the finished text in front of me and the realization hits.

I am done. Like finished.

That's a pretty good feeling.
