Remember that random poll I made about creating a story based off a title alone for fun and just… doing that thing until I got tired? Well six or seven chapters in I was contacted by someone somehow related to Webnovel who said “Your writing style would be great on our platform.”

Even gave me a code to get more views when making a novel for the first time.

Honestly, I’m not really feeling much interest because tight schedules aren’t my thing as a broke writer. The memories I have about writing on Webnovel is being laughed at and the kind of cesspool comments/reviews they are known for.

I remember one review was literally “Die Die Die” a billion times. It was a 5 star review.

So yeah… I’m not really feeling tempted.

Nah. Closest was when someone tried to repost my first novel copy pasted onto webnovel. I responded by aggressively reposting it myself far past where he was and commenting on every chapter about things I would have done differently looking back on it, like a directors commentary.

He was spacing out his posts and pretending that he was writing it himself, so I rapidly overtook him and destroyed his credibility. The only drawback was that I suddenly had an actually decent number of readers so I was obliged to release all 330 chapters on WN if I didn’t want to feel like an ass. I’m sure as hell not signing anything though.

Got contacted by Dreame, Webnovel and Sofanovel. All offered slave contracts, so, as someone who still has self-respect for his craft, I ignored all.

Dreame is the closest one I had signed on contract. However, reading their terms again and again, I realized they are 'buying' the work for a meager price, and lotsa burden for the author.

Me too and that while I think I'm doing decently well. Is there some kind of threshold to catch anyone's attention?

Though, I guess there was once something when I started, yet I took one look at the profile and saw it was created seconds before the post. I may be naive, but didn't reach that level of idiocy yet.

Trust me. You don’t want that kind of attention. And it was probably real because they do make sudden accounts for this stuff. Scams are like that.

yup. this is what I dislike the most about WN and other platforms alike.

They have people who they called "editors" that go scouting all the Internet for potential good stories, who I believe don't even have the experience and training needed. If successfully contracted, the person will receive money. So they just go and persuade people to sign as soon as possible, explaining all the benefits and false promises without touching on other important matters, like what the author need to prepare before committing there.

I got those on Wattpad twice for the same story. Those guys are real. But a contract with Webnovel is nah-nah. And if you really want one, you just need to upload your work to Webnovel, do barely well with it and you will be spammed with those contracts, even if you have denied them a gazillion times already.

That is arguably worse than having a minion of Webnovel in your comment section or DMs.

I've had two companies reach out and try to hire me to be the person sending these out. It's a double scam - they either get the "new employee" to buy a bunch of stuff from a pet vendor at a "discount" or they find a rube who already has everything, and that person gets lists of people to contact as an "editor"

I plan to have antichina sentiences in every chapter, as webnovel is owned in China. Tianmenn Square Massacre and Xi Xipooh Bear
