Unfortunately I don't feel like I have the talent to truly show the aesthetics that I imagine for my characters, but let's start off with something I illustrated twelve years ago using a YouTube video as a reference for my character, as well as a photo reference for the background.

From the second chapter of my novel, seven-year-old Timothy with his little red bike struggling to get a grip amongst the gravel of the canal towpath. His training wheels effectively taking enough load off the back wheel that he can't get sufficient traction to ride along under his own power, he just sits propped up on his training wheels pumping his pedals while the back wheel of his little bike spins helplessly.

Nice drawing. I'm not sure what else to say. Umm, how's the weather?
It's been very wet recently but dried up today. If I took my Timothy for a bike ride, he'd almost certainly get stuck in the mud.

Cartman on a bike?
I never watched much of South Park. The only reason I know his name is through random video clips. Not sure how that is relevant here though.
