Furry Anthropomorphic Traits

Would you prefer Animal Anthropomorphic characters to be more human or have a heavy set of traits from their species? I'm writing a sci fi adventure with some Furry characters and wanted to know if it'd be best to have heavy animal traits in their characters.

Depends on who you write it for. I, personally, like anthropomorphic animals because I kind of hate humans and they are an interesting mental exercise to picture what is wrong with humanity, so I gravitate to such characters having more beastly characteristics, though they'd not appear in my stories, or play a major role, at least, since they'd be more beastly on the inside too, thus, making it impossible to actually use them.
So it really depends on why you want to add them.

Male - More animalistic
Female - More Human

If it's sci-fi it can be explained that the females of most species look similar to each other so the males of other species won't attack and kill them. Unless you have a different way of reproduction.

Yes, personality and physically. Like the bat character being nocturnal and only comes out when its night time, but also it only eats fruit or bugs and is also very sociable. Stuff like that.

The first batch were cooked up by humans in a lab do to the lowering reproduction rates of humans. After that, species were able to breed like normal. One of the characters is a grizzly who's husband does park and wildlife work and they have two cubs that are privileged enough to go to human school but then some bad stuff happens. So they were originally produced for certain jobs but can then reproduce on their own.

Sounds like it's a more "down to earth" sci fi.

Depends on the character themselves and how dedicated they are to being a furry. If they're really dedicated then do heavy animal traits but more physical appearance but if they aren't go light on it. Hopefully this helped a little!
