I am honestly tired of shutting my brain off just to tolerate a book/show. There are to many novels that are all over the place in regards pf power systems. It is understandable for features like mysterious power ups to exist, to an extent, but I need something that can be written down and still be logical.

It doesn’t need to be super strict in balancing or power level, just has to have some guidelines that are mostly followed. Naruto is a good example of guidelines being used, with only a handful breaking said rules.

I have a list of shows but both books and animation are welcome. My current thought process is to list them out by number and use a random number to decide what to watch.

The list I have currently written is here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-KgtQz3av8NFBp8xGhRspzkPTPnE4SR8-141oVD9YCs/edit
Edit: Demon Slayer was the number it landed on.

I personally recommend against Fairytale as a more logical anime. It does have that but, well, I just wouldn’t peg it as an anime you would go to for that specifically. I do like it personally though.
Sword art online on the other hand, no. It’s just, not very logical, I think someone put that there as a joke. It’s not the spawn of the devil like some people would think, but it’s mediocre at best with nice visuals.

Hehe, if that's what you want, I can't recommend the show I commented earlier, unfortunately.

I do agree that Fairy Tail does have loose guidelines regarding the power systems. The main strength of the power system is it’s good representation of a variety of branches while still holding general rules for the magic casting.

Each magic type has a trigger or stipulation for casting the spells. Slayer Magic requires a bloodline or member of the race to teach it. Word-Make requires the knowledge of the subject, definition, and general linguistic knowledge. Summoning requires a specific item or attachment specific to the summon. There are other examples but those 3 are the only ones I can remember from years ago.
I do agree with the SAO bit though.

definitely recommend GGO. i would not touch SAO with a 10-foot pole (unless the author pulled a mad troll move and made kirishit get cucked by his entire group of haremettes become lesbians and form a huge polycule) but i love the fuck out of GGO and want another season of the anime.

A lot of the anime in the doc are the most mainstream ones, so this will be easy. Some of the anime are below not for everyone though.

Decadence
Overlord (probably so logical you'll wish it wasn't)
Rising of the shield hero
Jobless Reincarnation
Cautious Hero
Infinite Dendrogram
Psycho Pass
In Spectre (if you dont want to turn off your brain)
Durarara (low power setting though)
Bleach (surprised it wasn't in there given Naruto and One Piece got in)
Darwin's Game (similar in flavor to Btoom)
Danmachi
Fire Force (if Soul eater could get on the list, this should too)
Most of the Gundam series is pretty grounded within the rules they establish, but if you need to pick one, Gundam 00, Gundam IBO, Gundam Wing are my personal favorites
One Punch Man (strange that Mob is there and this isn't)
Parasyte

I am glad someone mentioned One Punch Man. And by Cautious Hero you are referring to the anime 'Cautious Hero: The Hero is Overpowered But Overly Cautious' right?

I'd recommend Magi. Shounen series with just the right amount of adventure, action, reasonable magic systems, philosophical intrigue, mild fanservice, and likable characters.

I'd say all these fit.

Re:ZERO
BOFURI
High School DxD (Unironically)
Kill la Kill
Guilty Crown
Suicide Girl

I would try looking into the raildex series. 68 novels, 37 manga, and over 7 seasons worth of character development, world building, and nun punching.

I think because you turn off your brain more in One Punch man than in Mob. Also adding to this, Shield Hero anime isn’t too great but the books are pretty good. Inf Den was pretty cool until the novelty wore off and you started seriously questioning some things and also realized there’s no real stakes in anything, at least for me. Darw Game I personally turned my brain off more than btoom but could just be me. Fireforce has gotten a bad rap for some things but I haven’t seen it myself. Similar with Bleach. Cautious hero somewhat repetitive after the shock.
I'd say all these fit.

BOFURI
High School DxD (Unironically)
Kill la Kill

Bofuri is a bit brain-off especially later in the anime. Kill la kill a bit brain off. ReZero isn’t very battle-y. Dunno the others
The Irregular at Magic High School.

A bit brain-off tho

If you want a serious short manga with hints of mystery i recommend Bibliomania
But if you want comedy with Lots of dirty jokes i recommend Rosen Garten Saga
(Let me warn you that rosen garten saga is literally half porn so you might want to read it alone in a private tab)
Both are manga so they don't have an anime.
I recommend you read them at mangadex

Jujutsu Kaisen is pretty good. It's got great fight scenes and some nice themes/ideas going. The characters are also likeable (IMO)...

Guilty Crown is also a pretty good one(at least I remember liking it a decade ago)

Assassination Classroom is also really good :) (one of my favs)

Fullmetal Alchemist is also a classic

One that doesn't get recommended often is Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, which I also remember liking a lot

There's also Noragami, Owari no Seraph and Zankyu no Terror.

That's about it from the things I can remember :)))
