Greetings I am looking for something to read with following criteria:
1. Non overpowered main or secondary character.
I accept strong villains like Aizen from Bleach.
2. Good Fights
Fights which are nice to read.
Non MC wins the fight because my Stats , skill is brocken.
Rare super one side fights, I just don’t like fights that are over after 1 or 2 Sentence.
The MC can and do lose.
The objektiv of the fights is not always to defeat the opponent.
Bonus points
If there is Slapstick ala Buds Spencer and Terence Hill or Ranma 1/2
If there is nice choreography of the fights like in Kung fu movie.
Thanks for any suggestions.
with kind regards
Fariy
Well, if you do not mind something that is a little more brain-intensive than the typical web novel, I just recently started posting chapters for
The Wandering Maiden's Travel Guide. This story hits everything you're looking for on this list, despite the title of the story.
1.) Main character is not OP. Most characters are not particularly OP, either. Some are definitely substantially stronger/weaker than others, but it is uncommon for there to be an insurmountable gulf of power between any two combatants in a reasonable scenario.
2.) My fights are
really good! At least, that is what I am told. One reviewer told me I have the best action scenes on RoyalRoad, and several other readers have agreed that my fights and action scenes are 10/10.
The fighters do not win because they have better stats. Most fights end because the other side employed superior strategy or had some other advantage they utilized.
Most fights are not over quick, but use a fairly intuitive approach. The less important it is, or the less consequence it has, the less space it gets. Though they may end up being shorter, they are not given any less attention and should still feel very satisfying.
The MC hasn't lost yet, but also hasn't really been in a fight. She got chased by ghosts once and ran into a wall, though...
Bonus Points:
A.) While not a comedy series, I do introduce a lot of good one-liners, situational comedy, and other such things. A lot of the commenting-type readers have said they like the bits of interspersed comedy.
B.) My fights are well choreographed, at least, in my opinion. I take inspiration from actual martial arts films, real world tournament highlights, and more.
Will you like it? I can't guarantee it, but based on what you're looking for and what I offer, it is at least worth a look.
My bonus points:
1.) Good foundation and introductory story for people interested in Wuxia/Xianxia
2.) Historical accuracy, cultural inspirations, and a lot of opportunity to learn
3.) A top-tier glossary with a lot of information that makes the trickier parts of the story (Chinese names) much easier to manage
4.) Memorable, lovable characters with two solid protagonists and a cast of unique side characters who tend to have their own stories, goals, and inspirations
Best wishes!
