I'm getting a lot of readers, but they all seem really quiet. I've left author's notes asking for feedback but they all fall on deaf ears.

depends on your audience
I've seen that in more romance-y works, there's more people interacting, especially if it's like Yaoi or Yuri
or if the novel it's just really fucking good, people will comment about something crazy that just happened, if it's not a generic novel with the same-y strokes and beats

It's not that unusual. Though I do get a decent bit of reader interaction, but when you compare it to the 1k+ readers every chapters gets a handful of comments is less than a percent of the readers actually going out of the way to interact. Same goes for people liking the chapters.

It differs from site to site. WN actually has pretty active readers more so than SH. FF less so. I hear RR readers can be pretty active, but that they also tend to be more critical.

They'll come eventually. Right now, you're averaging around 60 views per chapter. I only started seeing engagement from my readers when I hit about 500 views per chapter. So, just be patient, stay consistent, and it will all come with time. Good Luck :blob_hug:
