In quite the future chapter I planned to write a smut chapter. And I notice my previous smut chapters are pretty bland (bland words and bland dialogues with bland smutsy descriptions).
So I would like to know how do you guys write your smut.

Writing smut ain't hard.
Making it feel the way you want it to come, is.

First you need to know what feeling you want to pass on. Be it pleasure, love, lechery, each depends on a very subtle balance of actions, descriptions and word choices. And beyond all, matching it with how the characters are feeling before and after it happened. Sex changes how you see your day, and how you were feeling previous of it is what makes you want it and shapes the whole experience. After you get that sorted, you jus t need to put yourself in all of the characters' shoes and try to maintain their traits and personality even while doing it. The devil is on the details, and here's where most fail.

And for the love of god, focus on the details and subtle actions, else it's just porn.

Good foreplay supplements sex; good chemistry between characters supplements emotional feeling when having sex.

Then down to the sex scene. There are many types of sex.

1. harlequin sex scene where you use metaphor to describe dick and vagina for example rod blabla blabla blabla

2. detailed sex scene. Just like the name. the description of in this sex scene is detailed.

3. 50/50 between detail and emotional sex scene

4. emotional sex scene

5. etc.

So what sex scene type you should choose? I don’t know. It depends on your audience and your taste.

After u have chosen your sex scene type, you can insert fetish to enhance the experience of reading sex scene.

For example if you have back fetish and u choose 50/50 detail and emotional type sex scene. You can insert ur back fetish in the middle of the sex and lewd dat back with description and emotion.

In the middle of sex, u can describe the position of sex u like too.

Then the end of the sex. That’s when ur cumming. Depend on ur taste, u can choose how to end ur sex scene. U can end it with fantastical mega omega squirt and ahegao, or u can end it realistically, or maybe u want to end it emotionally for example ur couple ask u to kiss or ask u to scream her name as they cum or you and ur couple scream "I love u" as u both cum together, or or maybe u want to have pillow talk after u are having sex with ur couple.

Okay that’s it. Im writing it when im sleepy so excuse the grammar.

I picked up random hentai, and copy pasted some dialogues.

Then I cringed so much that I had to erase it.

I don't know what turns on my readers tbh.

I'm really lazy on describing details by text. So I slap a picture and calls it a paragraph.

>Harlequin sex scene

Is that why I do it? Explains a lot. I just uh... like to save the non-metaphorical words and use them during an intense scene for impact.

I find that the best way to write a lemon (smut) is by watching porn equivalent to the idea of what you want to write. If your characters are magic users, have them use that magic somehow. If they're empaths/psychic, have them connect on a baser, deeply emotional level.

You shouldn't ever copy paste every scene from the porn to the smut itself, but use it as a referrence. Also, like others have mentioned, it really helps if you yourself are horny while writing~.

If the characters involved have some special characteristics, like persay, a burn scar, have their partner do something sexy with that scar like kissing all over its length. (you can do this with pretty much every scar)

Much the same way, if your characters have some kind of emotional quirk, make good use of it.

P.S - If you find a scene you wrote as cringy or something that the character itself would find extremely embarrassing after the deed was done, that means you're doing something right. Please note that embarassment in this case does not equal regret, but a form of feeling connected to the trust they have for their partner. If you can manage to showcase this, the scene will end up feeling much more 'real'.

Make the scene slow paced but not repetitive. Show don't tell rule is million times more important here. Btw I'm also still learning to write this kind of stuff, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

To a person who's never had salt before, you would be the only needed salt....

Best advice?
Never EVER write porn dialogue, seriously is cringe as fuck.
"Harder baby of god baby is soo good" :blob_facepalm:

Also the mood or situation you are trying to convey with the smut scene, like are they in love or quickie with no strings attached or r*pe?

All convey different emotions and should express them.

I don't know how to be helpful... I think the biggest help for me is I have a few good friends who beta read for me and give me their feedback and impressions. My smut seems to still be very hit or miss but the important thing to me is that I connect with my own writing because if I'm not connected then I don't see much of a chance for others to like it.

You're a warrior, making your friends be your smut story beta readers

Lol I have very dialogue heavy smut. My characters are very chatty in bed. Not dirty talk all the time, just communicating. I personally think it can work very well.

But yeah porn dialogue smut is a bit absurd. I mean I say that... But I totally lean into it sometimes for comedic effect. It's really fun to have a hardcore scene become a giggle party when someone calls a cum "baby batter".

I'd say everyone has their style. It's also important to have characters that are in the scene in mind. I don't like bland and repetitive stuff, so I always design these scenes with participants in mind, their personality, likes, wants, relationship and so on. Instead of just motion, I insert some more feeling into it. As for language used, you need to find your own poison. Personally, I'm somewhere in the middle. I like getting fancy and flowery, but still name things by their rightful names when the effect would be lost if I went with too weird stuff. Well, you can check one of the recent ones from me if you want, each next one is a big step forward for me, more and more creative. Especially the one coming this Sunday. That shit was amazing when I wrote it.

my two cents would be:
1. go with what turns you on; seriously, your internal porn cinema is evolutional the best mother nature could develope - just use it
2. rise the tension until the final climax; means structure in waves, up down, vary the speed
3. don´t be afraid to look how others write if you need an idea how to write; this is the internet! just check how other authors build sentences
4. in my opinion detailed describings help a lot;
5. avoid repetitions!; trully, to read: he fucked her ... he fucked her ... than he fucked her ... finally he fucked her hard ... is kind of turn off to read.

if it isn´t a spoiler, what kind of smut? BL, GL, Straight, or ...?

My two cents...

THE 3 WRITING RULES OF EROTIC SCENES:
1)
Don’t make a sex scene if you can make an ecchi scene. Ecchi (involuntary flashing and accidental skinship) is always good and as much psychological rewarding as sex, while explicit sex scenes usually become boring very soon. Sex scenes must be few and short.
2) Sex must always be a mystery unveiling journey, so there should be a progression both in involuntary flashing and accidental skinship between two people before arriving at sex. And even during sex the most frequent emotions should be embarrassment and bashfullness after each daring step.
3) Sex scenes descriptions must never be written with an explicit language, sexual intercourses details should always be hinted or expressed with poetic and metaphoric paraphrasing (Heaven is Not Lonely is a great master in this art, just read his novel ‘Womanizing Mage’ to learn from a master), leaving the rest to the reader imagination. The more sex acts and body parts are narrated by allusion or suggestion, the more the reader is going to be excited because he is the one doing the ‘unveiling’.

Actually, KyorusS explicitly asked for smut, not erotic scenes.
