In a distant future, the intergalactic community has decided to settle all conflicts the old-fashioned way.
So... What of it?

I mean, what years is it?
I want to know so that I can think of how their commanders will strategize in the field of space.

And, if possible, don't make the fact that they have tech to go to space mean they have none for war. That'll be a dumb one.

If you can, please make them own superpowers. Let's just say their world is vastly different than ours, so some vehicles require pixie dust while knights don't need any.

Been a while since I read it but didn't Joseph Halderman's "The Forever War" have a bit like this? Also taking this idea to a weird extreme, I could easily see the "knights" and "samurai" being Mecha battling over the resources on a newly discovered world...

It's their story, don't need to backseat them.

Yep. Also there was "High Crusade".
Oh as an addendum. There have been historical periods where forms of transportation was way ahead of the "combat arms".

Like I say to all my friends with wacky story ideas: If it doesn't work, you'll learn from it as an author; If it does, you could end up with a cash cow.
