Is the chapter editor based on a markup language?

I'm new to this site and is going to publish a story. Is the chapter editor based on something like HTML or BBCode?

It doesn't use BB Code and I believe it doesn't use HTML either.

I don't think you need to worry too much about the language it uses though, when I write a chapter in word, any editing I do ends up naturally converting to the format of the text editor. (for example, if I put a word in bold in MS Word, it is also bolded when I move it to Scribbly's text editor)

Some things don't translate well. And fixing those is quite a chore if you don't have access to some markup editor.

It's definitely on my wishlist. But I'll refrain from posting that is suggestions for now. I have other things in there I'd like Tony to make for us first.
