Is there an audience for my story?

It seems most of the popular stories on this website are litrpg, isekai, wuxia/xianxia, or harems. My story is a little different.

It is a mix of urban fantasy and high fantasy. It takes place in a fictional world, but the level of technology is about equivalent to what we have as of today.

It will be about a group of magical thieves that are kinda like Robin Hood. They steal in order to give to the needy.

It is not really culturally inspired by East Asia. It's more of a fusion of European and Middle Eastern culture.

It will take place in a matriarchy (that isn't super oppressive) that lacks the concept of marriage. The story will feature gender role reversed relationships since I don't see things like that often in fiction.

The economy my world will have will be a command economy like the Soviet Union. The government is not communist/socialist since the type of economy was not created with equality in mind. There are two classes. The upper class are allowed to have seats in the government, and thus a say in economic planning, and are allowed to own and manage state enterprises. The lower class just consists of workers. If one desires to gain entry into the upper class, one has to perform well in some form of violent sport (think the Rating Games in Highschool DxD).

The story will start out with a male MC (a human) getting bullied and abused at work because of a mental disorder he has, with his boss (a woman) being the one who often does the abusing. After being told by the boss that he will get fired soon (for a BS reason), the male MC decides to get revenge by joining up with a female MC (a female kitsune). These two MCs perform a heist that ends up ruining the boss's reputation, which leads to the boss getting removed from the enterprise. The two MCs then found the thief group.

The male MC will be romantically paired with the kitsune, so there is still wish fulfillment, in a way.

The story will have sex scenes. It also has yuri (but not with the kitsune, it will be between two other thieves).

The reason I'm asking is because I haven't really seen any story like this on the website. I do know this website's still pretty young.

Why not? Or better yet, area bombard in Royalroadl and other sites.

Though I will be blunt, if it aint got any fight scenes, I will probably not read it. While the story of a thief who ended up influence world politics is fine, some beat'em up scenes might be cool for me. If it is just plain "hide in a corner then steal this stuff" I will probably just not read it.

Oh, it will definitely feature fight scenes, complete with onomatopoeia. Every heist will have them. I'd also find stories boring without fight scenes.

Have you tried publishing to other sites as well?

Then make sure to put it in the title, or description, and views will go up.
Would having a lesbian relationship between two of the MCs justify putting the story in the Girls Love genre as well? Romance will be in the story, but is not the main focus of the story.

Well, you have my initial interest. The concept seems pretty interesting (and yuri, side or main, is always good). whether you can pull it off is, of course, a matter for the future.

that is something new. I personally like to read it. If you can please let me know when you post it

Here is the truth. The story might not see initial success but it will have some loyal follower (Thinking about the novelty of the plot). Try it on as many sights as possible, RR and QI is a must. Wattpad if possible. Just don't give up and keep on writing. I will be waiting.

That's why I'm thinking of paying an artist for a good cover. The cover will consist of the female kitsune MC and will be of an anime drawing style. I think I might win some more readers over if I do that.

If only you knew how much garbage I fervently read ...

There are people like me in the millions! I can't remember who said it but, "Webnovel readers are voracious, they will read anything."

Friendly advice, if you are planning on publishing this for real, as in for patreon and stuff, then yes, go for paid art.

For shitters like me who are just doing the writing for lolz (still has not posted my work cuz lazy af), and no money will be involved, no art is required.

Be ready that the money doesn't come instantly, or maybe at all, it is like investment, and now it is a good time to go into the market thanks to Covid19.

I would say go for stock photo or something or your own doodles if you are just doing to for the lolz

If you are not I eat tomato or Ergen of English light novel then it won't come so soon. your story sounded more like 'Lazy Cliche' [one of my personal favourite]. So just continue to write. you will get the result.

Well, do your thing. Your readers will come searching for you somehow. Don't underestimate the sniffing nose of the reader base, they are kinda OP in that regard.

I just wanted to point out the reason for there being that kind of popularity. Before Scribblehub opened up to the majority, the owner, Tony, had Novel Updates. NU hosted translated novels (titles that originate from East Asia), and, if you were to ever look at what they are, were mostly of those genres you listed. I'd say that was the likely cause of what had, probably, inspired most authors to create these stories we have here to invest our time and read.

With what I said now in your mind, don't think for a moment that your idea won't work here; it will. This place has a general audience that is more open to new and controversial ideas than some other well known webnovel sites. There are readers here who will follow along with a good read, regardless of the content.

I would like you to have a good time with your story, and, if you do, others here will too.

I heard a phrase once that said "there's an audience for everything". Your premise sounds promising and I'm sure people will become interested. Although a lot of the novels in trending do fall in the category you list, it doesn't mean there aren't other types of stories like yours out there with plenty of success.

If you want a more ample audience, then you'll do good posting on other sites as well, like everyone else said. You'll get readers of all kinds if you do that.

I know, it's the reason I joined because this was a place I felt I could publish my more "otaku-ish" stories without feeling discriminated or thought of as dumb. It's something I love about SH, the openness of the audience. Makes an amenable place especially for new writers.

I say, go for it. The concept you presented sounds interesting and I'm always hungry for something different. If it doesnt use the usual tropes, even better!

Definitlely not GL tag. It would be misleading in my opinion. ai-subplot as someone already recommended.
