I've seen this come up a few times on NovelUpdates as an ad and I'm not sure if this website is like NovelUpdate or like Wattpad?

I'd also say similar, except SH shows new chapter releases...Rating (Not talking about 'favorite', as SH has that too), Bookmarking (I find this good but wattpad might have added this since I last used it)...The competitions seem to be able to be done by anyone too, as Wattpad seem to leave countries out.

It's similar in nature. But the last time I checked, you need to self promote in Wattpad. They don't have latest updates there from the last time I used it so the exposure for up and coming amateur authors is very low.

I would say no to an extent. ScribbleHub seems more connected with it's readers and more open. Wattpad feels more like a library, while ScribbleHub would be a hub of books and authors. (I can't think of any good similes.)

Personally, I find the smaller community of ScribbleHub to be a lot more appealing than the huge platform that is Wattpad. ScribbleHub seems to be more community oriented, working towards connecting authors to support one another as well as appealing to particular niche themes. Most stories I see on here are isekai or transmigration themed novels with a lot of anime/manga influences. I feel like Wattpad generally caters towards a Western audience, but I haven't been on there in a few years so the community might have changed a bit.

If you're a new and upcoming author, it's easier to garner support here at ScribbleHub. ScribbleHub showcases on their homepage the most updated novels as well as the newest novels which can provide better exposure for people. In Wattpad, there's not really much helpful exposure from the site itself. You'll have to actively work towards gaining better viewership for yourself; although this is true in both sites, ScribbleHub is a bit more helpful in this regard I believe.

I don’t think it’s on Wattpad level yet since this site still fairly new. Wattpad already has new programs like “Pay-per-chapter” similar to Qidian thing. But honestly I prefer Scribble as it’s easier on the eyes to navigate. In the end both sites give different genres. All I could find on Wattpad are female lead stories lol

Yep! the vast majority of wattpad stories are romance novels. Last I heard, wattpad's most prominent demographic was female teenagers (as both writers and readers).

The biggest drawback of wattpad is their content restrictions. The only way you can get new readers in the platform itself is by having your story show up in the readers' suggestions. However, if you flag your story as containing mature content of any kind, wattpad essentially hides your story. Your story won't be suggested anywhere, so the only way it'll be seen is if a reader browses your writing list.

Wattpad tries to be a family-friendly platform, so anything from cursing to too much violence to sexual content is flagged as mature content and buried. Your readers aren't even allowed to curse lol, using the word 'fuck' automatically flags and hides their comment to anyone but the author.

If your character has a potty mouth? Mature content.

I really like that scribblehub is pretty much NU for original stories. I'll be able to post [censored] porn story extras here, so thanks Tony!!!

Yes and no; both sites are under the genre of writing sites but Scribble Hub and Wattpad have separate algorithms. And while both sites are open for creative use, each site has different clarifications on publication warnings, and since Scribble Hub is a much smaller site it goes through a much more harsh moderation system; Scribble Hub has a process of approval for stories, covers, and chapters from what I am aware of.

Wattpad also allows "novels" that are actually meeting places for roleplays and fanfiction. I'm not aware on the usage of both on Scribble Hub, but I have not seen it yet. Scribble is also a site by authors and readers for authors and readers, I feel as if (if not wonky) it has a much more efficient user interface. Wattpad also has declined in their search system over the years -- not allowing you to search what you actually want, as well as having a sponsor priority on their novels.

You get the point. I found out it's quite hard to get "reads" on wattpad for new authors.

I came from Wattpad. I had been there for a long time and the views only increase slowly. like seriously slow. It took me months and years to reach the total views in Wattpad.

When I came to SH, the views (total) are literally faster than I imagines. was a "cultural shock" to me. If ya a writer, I suggest use SH.

As for the more serious answer, you can get more people to you more easily. I came from Wattpad and it took me 20+ chapters of my story to get to 1.5k reads, which is a respectable amount, but with only 6 chapters out from a reboot of that story, it already surpass it leaving out the views that only look at the synopsis it's already at 2k which is like what @sak-chii said above a "cultural shock"

I think the reason why is that although SH is a lot smaller compared to WP it's readers fit my type of story (isekai) more than in WP. Which in WP is mostly Fanfics and Young Adult stuff.

So that's why my story took so long to climb up! Lol my MC swears like a drunken sailor! Imagine when If I add in the sex scenes geezus XD
