Life is a song.
- Debasish Mridha
Then, one could say Composing Songs equal Giving Life.

I have two challenges for anyone that's interested.
  1. The first challenge is easier. Take a song that you like and write a lively short story about it. Make sure to include the lyrics within the short story somehow.
  2. The second challenge is a bit harder. Compose an original song that has never been sung before and write a short story on how the song gave birth to new life.

Criticism:
Death is a song unsung is not a logical following to life is a song.
Logically, it should be death is the silence following the song.
True, you're right. Let me rephrase the prompt and title.

I am a record keeper. My job is to record, then pass the records to the future generation.

"You are our hope," my creators said.
"You will hold humanity's knowledge," my other creators said.
"For the future," they said.

I record the history they told me. The stories they give me. The knowledge they collected. I recorded them talking about my birth, I recorded every improvement they brought me, I recorded our time together. I recorded their death.

I shouldn't think of unnecessary things, their successor said.
I am a record keeper, not a guardian. My job is to record knowledge and pass them to the future generation.

From the pieces of information they gave me I know they're dying. I know they're trying to prevent it. I know they're sending people to other places. They hope they can restart civilization in other places, take root on their destinations. Anywhere that has a chance of survival; underground places, islands, planets, asteroids.
I recorded every outgoing mission and every death reports.

Not a single one is successful so far, but they are still hopeful.

I recorded their faces and names. I recorded them working and partying. I recorded their tears, fear, and anger. But they always get back up and work again with a smile.
"For the future," they said.

I wanted to help them. I joined their discussion. They stopped me.
"Don't waste your power."
"You're not made for analyzing."
"Just do what you do best, recording."
"For the future."

I am a record keeper, not a guardian. My job is to record knowledge but there's no one to pass it to.
Why am I still recording?
What's the point of all this?

I don’t know — I don’t know, don’t know anymore
--- I'm sorry---
That face I still remember, smiling through any weather
Just thinking of it makes me feel much better
All my sounds are fading out, and I can see
The end is getting closer now…
---emergency system shutdown---

Song: Rachie – The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku- English dub

the stories below has no song lyrics, I just got inspired by the thread title
A song is playing while I am waiting in line. I don't know why it's being played on repeat, but it's not irritating. It's a familiar song. It's the song of my life, I know that somehow. But why is it played after I die? Nostalgia's sake?

It's been some time since I am waiting in line. The song has been repeated so many times I remember it without trying to.

It's finally my turn to be judged. The song stopped. They asked me if I remember the song, and I answered honestly.
The song plays again.

No.
No wait, that's not the song. The song has been burned to my memory I can spot the difference without trying.
What's going on?

"The song played when you waited was your life."

Then what is this?

"The song being played right now is God's plan for you."

But, no, they're different!

"It is very similar,"

I know the song, I remember the song, I know it's different. But I can't accept that.
I tried, I really tried doing what I thought God says.
I can't accept knowing I'm straying from the Plan. Or maybe I can't accept I was mistaken, that I was wasting my life running in the wrong direction.

"But you got the lyrics wrong."

What happens now?
God of Life and God of Death has a game. They picked one mortal to their realm and give them all the songs ever known, and the songs not yet created.

"Sing, and a new life will be born," the God of Life said.
The mortal look at the endless pile of music.
"You can stop anytime. You don't have to sing all of them. But you may not rest between songs," The God of Death console the mortal.
The mortal was consoled, and start singing. Even if the mortal sing badly, a new life is born.

Some mortal pause to swallow their spit.
Some mortal sung until they lost their voice.
Some mortal sung until they died.

Then the God of Death spread the unsung songs. They scatters and land on any life and took it away.

Another world ends, and God of Life said:
"One more game."

What a wonderful world today!
I'm dancing down the avenue.
People will stare and say,
"That's guy smells like poo!"
I may have forgot to shower!
But that's not an issue.
Unless somebody body gets to close.
Then they might puke on my shoe.

"I don't get why you can't publish the song."
"It's a crime against nature."
"It's a work of art."
"If that's art, then a shit stain will be the new Mona Lisa."
"Wow. That hurts."
"It should. Get the hell out of my office."
"No! Please, I'll do anything to get this published!"
"...Anything?"
"Uhhh..."
*thirty minutes of pure smut later*
"Yeah, I'm still not publishing it. Great sex though. Call me."
"DAMN IT!"

Three months later:
"Yeah, I'm pregnant.
"OH FOR THE LOVE OF--"

(The joke is, the song lead to them having a kid, therefore new life. i'M sO fUNny!)

would have been funnier if you didn't write this but you just had to break a dead horse's kneecaps, huh
