So, hi, I just want to introduce myself really fast. I usually never post on forums as I lurk for the most part, but... I've been writing, and it feels like an addiction at this point. So... each and every time I try to take a break, I end up starting to write a completely new story...
Great! That's a good thing? Right?
Ugh... yeah, my hands hurt, and I have a hard time enjoying anything that isn't writing. Playing games, dunno... it became dull. Watching anime? That's no option since it feels soooo boring for some reason. Reading, ha! I wish... I've only been able read: Haibara’s Teenage New Game+
So....
I want to try and get into those things again and keep my mind away from writing stuff....
any advice on how to just chill?

8 hour sleep

Try to get good sleep before doing anything. Good sleep means that when you're awake, you can feel fresh and didn't feel like you're lacking sleep at all.

You can try to find actual good pillow, mattress, and blanket. Don't go cheap on pillow, it's the one that decide between comfortable neck and painful neck at waking up.

Some people would try to sleep less than than 8 hour, by sleeping 7 or even 6 hour, Because apparently they can "Get used to it" like a pro they're. but they're also the kind of people who readily sacrifice 20 year of living for more money because they're pro and long live is overrated in their opinion, so i don't care about them.

To this point, I'm still trying to sleep and wake up naturally without alarm. Kinda suck that waking hours is usually too early for our health, but society isn't designed to help people to live healthier.

Try exercise and meditation, maybe some kind of aerobic and yoga. And maybe, try to inprove your conversation skill during socializing.

And try to make some kind of life routine table, and record every show, anime, manga, book, and webnovel you've read. It would be useful to help you feel the sens of time passing each time.

Ahaha, my bed and pillow is actually very comfy. It's one of those memory foam thingis?

Ah... I really dislike taking medicine unless it's really necessary, and... I've been thinking about getting back into exercise, just... I don't want to go to the gym, and I like exercising outside, though... there's still snow.
Also, socialising is overrated, jkjk. I'm actually very social in person, so I doubt I have an issue on that front.

This is actually really good advice since, with most things, I store everything in my head and never write things down, so... that's an area to practice...
Thanks! That helps! I just need to execute that somehow....

Sometimes, when I 'explode' into writing something, I just let it run its course until I got no idea left in my head.

Meditation, not medication 😇
I think I need to go to bed

I do that too, but my hands and arms kinda hurt a lot, and if I push through, the next few days will be days of pain. But... I am trying to go on a hiatus. I just... need to write one more chapter, to leave on a good note....
I also try not to get too many ideas, as... I keep everything I write in my head, and it's already a convoluted mess...

You can always edit later. I do that a lot of times after writing till oblivion, and the best part is, I often discover I like what I write.

One big struggle of being an author is we got too many ideas in the head sometimes. What's important is you 'release' those so it won't bother you later.

Now if you really want to force a stop into writing, you can try what I do to force myself to relax.

Like when I try to get myself into writing, I cut off everything: games, watching, reading, etc. Likewise, when I need to relax after finishing an entire manuscript, I cut myself off from anything related to my writing, and come back to it a month or two later.

Just as what others said earlier, establish a routine for yourself. It will help you a lot.

Ah... I often feel that way, too~ as for edits... I'm in the process of rewriting my whole story up to my current writing style, and well... it really helps since I like my own novels.

as for 'release' I have no clue. I just don't have too many ideas that stray from what I intended I suppose?

hmm, will try that, but I think it will be quite the struggle to keep my mind off writing completely, since I had the dilemma of forgetting how to write once or twice, like... I wasn't able to formulate sentences that made sense inside my head.... so... I suppose I'll keep it moderately and make a new routine :3

Well, yeah. It's a struggle to keep off at first, but when you establish a pattern, it'll be just like another day in the office. 😉

Consider taking a weekend to go camping or doing an activity that you enjoy with people you like. If there's a beach near you, go to the beach. If there's mountains or a forest then try camping. Stuck in the city, try going to a fun center with some friends.

Hmmm. You feel like my past self from November 2022 back when i first started writing. dont let it become an obsession. Honestly i treat writing as a soothing hobby. Just pace yourself. No need overwork yoursslf. Enjoy the ride. I made the same mistake of staring 2 stories at the same time now its kind of hard to Mangalore to update both. If its a hobby treat it as one. Make time for some other activities like going out with friends. Pc games etc i just like making trash cities in city skyline 💀. Etc. It would become stale really fast so change the routine
