Maybe a stupid question, but did anyone of you actually checked what "illegal sex acts" means?

"Illegal Sex Acts - These are content which encourages illegal sexual acts including but not limited to bestiality (real-world animals) or necrophilia."

I just wanted to check the guidelines to see if a planned chapter might be problematic. To be honest, for me as a European, "illegal sexual acts" is a very vague term. So I tried to do some research and almost failed at the first hurdle.

Which law applies here exactly? Some US law - ok - SH refers to US paragraphs in its ToS and PT.

But which one exactly? Federal? State? Both? All of them?

Because if you look at what also are considered "illegal sexual acts" in the United States, I almost get laughing or crying fits.

So hand on heart, have any of you ever looked into what the law (assuming US) might mean by that, or have you just set your own moral/legal bar like I have?

... and yes the thing with the still living fish is sick.

Encouraging Beastality, Incest, Necrophilia, Pedophilia, Guro, Rape, Abuse porn(Distinct from BDSM)

Basically, if it's something that would get you jailed or universally socially shunned it's probably not allowed.

The line gets a little fuzzy on some of these depending on who you ask. The U.S. is a very puritanical country and thus a lot of sex-related topics even if perfectly normal are a bit taboo.

For me ..., as a person who writes smut, I keep it under SH guidelines. I mean, I upload it on this platform so why set my own standard? As such, I write it without rape, underage, dead body, and animals. Beastman is fine though, smut with them won't be categorized as bestiality. They're furry fantasy hominids who possess intelligence, who dares to say that they're animals?

Although ..., sometimes, I have this urge to write some rape scenes. Maybe because I read too much of NTR pornhwa. :blob_whistle:

Incest, Abuse porn
Btw, what is this abuse porn? And, eh, you can't post incest?

IDK about incests, But abuse porn is porn that glorifies nonconsensual violence against other people akin to rape but slightly different.

Reminds me of that couple that were found having sex in a public railway station. Got multiple complaints.
One because they didn't wear their masks properly... :blob_thor:

Meanwhile I think it was a damn good idea to post my story here.

I think for us writers here, the operative word is "encourage". As long as I don't call for imitation or glorify an otherwise punishable act, I'm probably still on the acceptable side.

So dear readers, please do NOT mimic what I write about sex!

Apart from the fact that the definition of consensual "illegal sex acts" under US law is really weird for me, Tony gives us a generous leeway in our writing. Thanks Tony!

P.S.
Even though I won't be writing about sex between adults and children, I'll be damned if I'm going to tell any adolescents in real life whether or not they should have sex with each other. A lot of us had sex before we were legally adults and to withhold it from someone else is just too hypocritical.

Anyone else here ever wonder how many times had these weirdly specific sexual acts had to have happened before enough somebodies got fed up and passed the very specific proposed sex law? :blob_hmm:

When i just imagine this:

"Ahhh, sorry, I want to get married tomorrow but I'm still a virgin. Do you have time for some sex right now?"

Sometimes reality is just even better then fiction. :er_what_s:

ScribbleHub has no restriction on incest, only underaged sex. Ai-chan specifically asked @Tony about this because Ai-chan's story The Hounds of Hell has incest.

Carl and Maya would be kicked out of the school one day because Maya's admirer found out/believed they had incest. Ai-chan hasn't decided if they would have actual sex or not.

Anyway, the following not being a reply of Newfy's comment, the law on illegal sex acts has no bearing on literature. You can write whatever you want, even torture porn as long as it remains literature and is not practiced in real or describing real life situations. Even if it describes real life situations, it's allowed if it's academic, such as biographies.

What is happening here is self-censorship, to save the site owner from trouble in case the laws change in the future. Yes, there have been erotic porn authors convicted, but not because of writing porn. One porn author was arrested and convicted because he carried obscene materials across state border, not because he wrote porn stories.

Although this is self-censorship, Ai-chan doesn't mean you should break the rules. Tony made the site to let authors host their stories. So whatever he says, goes. Obey the rules, if you don't understand it, ask the owner to clarify. If after clarification you still can't agree with it, you should think of what you want to do with your stories featuring elements banned by the site.

In Ai-chan's opinion, Tony has been pretty lenient with the restrictions.
