Has anyone else been getting messages about people interested in illustrating and turning out to be scammers??? I've gotten two in the last couple of weeks. It's always a red flag because it's someone who created the account the day the message was sent. I always make sure to wait a little bit before thinking of responding and within 24 hours the account is deleted lol

Yep, I got same message. Here, and in Wattpad.

I answered back: "I'm also an illustrator. Nuff said."

Oh never would but I didn't know I'd get them so frequently
They'll always look for authors who seemingly have no artwork in their stories, or if you have few followers (like me). There are also those scammers who would try to hook you with 'book promotion,' especially stories with low views.

I seeee. Yeah I'd only trust it if there was 1. reliable backing ofc but 2. if my story was even popular lol. I think it's crazy to be like "hey I really liked your book" but there's zero trace of activity with the book like come on.. I'm not stupid

Honestly, from my experience, it's safer that you're the one to approach instead of you being approached. Not only can you choose who you want to work with, most often you will get the safest option.

Though, personally, I had no problems illustrating my own works coz I draw myself.

I'm an artist too, just to lazy making 3d models for my characters.

Can relate. Lol

I accumulated four clearbooks full of drawings after I finished writing my novels.

A volume has:

1 Cover
1 Back Cover
1 Character Intro (that sometimes extend to two pages because of the number of characters and their poses)
4 In-chapter Illustrations

And there are Prologue Illustrations from Volume 1-5 and Volumes 6 and 8. And five 'Arc mode' covers.

I got 21 volumes in total, divided into 5 arcs.
