Names with a meaning vs random names

Well you see, I’m plagiarizing concepts and character foundations from one of my favorite “visual novels”, so ion need to worry about it

in all seriousness I just sit at my desk and slam my hand on my keyboard and fix the name up to match with my basic idea of the character, either showing their personality, culture, both, or neither

I don't identify well with names in real life, and this accidentally carries over to my writing, I feel, where the names are often the least important aspect of a character, even within the universe of the story

Some of my characters have names that took me hours of deep-diving to come up with. Some are jokes. And then everyone else gets plant/flower/animal related names because I'm a nature nerd.

My oc name is weird. It dont have meaning but i make it unique
