Please allow us to report other users even if their profiles are locked. trungtnguyen123 is reposting translations as if they were his/hers original stories on ScribbleHub. trungtnguyen123 was the original translator but the translation site has been dead for a long time already.

There is a report story button, is that what you mean?

I think he meant report the 'author' himself. I can see why there's a need for one. It could be that the author continuously break the rules, pick fights with others or in this case, posting translations instead of original stories. For report story, you report the story. For report author, you report the author.

If you report the story, Tony will check on it and you can include a note that the author has broken multiple rules.

I did report the stories and also explained in the note but if the "author" profile is set as unavailable then there will be some novels that actually go under the radar. To avoid that we either have to display their works even if their profile is set for "private" or report the "author" so all his works get checked.

I actually found the translations by accident while lurking for some good original works and they happened to be a novel that I read long ago and liked enough to remember.

Bumping this as it's now mid-June, and the last post on this, stating the stories were reported, was in mid-March. I accidentally stumbled across the translations for Husband, Be A Gentleman being posted here when browsing on NU, reported it, and after I reported it, realised the username was familiar. Then I remembered this thread.

It's been three months since the stories were reported for being translations and repostings of another author's works, not self-created work, and they're still up.

I understand that it can take a while to get to report tickets, and I don't know what the current situation is re: modding and work loads. But three months is fairly disappointing. And as @Squeeezy has pointed out, with the user's profile currently set to private, it is hard to access from the SH side of things how many translated works are being hosted here. Going through the translator's NU page, here are all of the translated works of thjeirs currently being hosted on SH:

Sorry to have to invoke the mentions, but @Tony do I have to report all of these stories one by one? Is there some work being done behind the scenes that we're just not aware of that? Or is the current mod workload just causing some report tickets to have a months long wait time? (Not accusatory, I'm really just trying to get a picture of what's going on)

In terms of immediate action, getting these stories taken down would be nice, but in terms of long term solutions can I suggest both:
  1. Authors' works being public even if the rest of their profile is set to private. They uploaded their stories for public perusal on SH in the first place, their works should be publicly available through their profile even if they'd prefer to keep any other information private.
  2. Being able to report users, not just stories, if their behaviour shows a pattern of abusing the ToS.

The reason why it hasn't been taken down yet is because it's pretty much an exception. There are only two ways to find those novels: a direct link (for example NU) or a direct title search. It won't appear anywhere else on the site (latest updates, rankings, new series, tags, genres, etc). It's pretty much hidden from the site so it won't try to fight English originals for exposure. English originals and translations shouldn't be mixed after all.

As for why it's there, I explained it in more details here: https://forum.novelupdates.com/threads/rehosting-dead-translations.60044/

No ads will ever be placed in those dead translations. I figured it would be better than users depending on aggregators.
