So, just a couple of questions regarding the TOS for this site...

1, rewriting. I'm looking to rewrite a former story to make it longer, better planned out, better paced, etc. Would this be allowed if I remove the original? Or would it be considered in poor taste?

2, reordering. If I want to reorganize my one shots into two separate novels, would I be able to remove the current novel then repost it as two novels (separating the one shots that are relevant/canon to my main story from the one shots that are entirely standalone)?

You can even keep the original and it won't be considered bad in any way if rewrite is extensive.

As long as it's clear what you're doing, there should be no problems with anything you've written. In the first case you don't even have to remove the previous version, and in the latter you can keep one of them and just move some chapters to another. I don't know which option will be best for you, but just do what you feel is best in the specific case and make sure you inform readers what happened so they don't read the same story twice and accuse you of plagiarizing your own work or wasting their time. Or something.

It is a valid play. So go wild. You can make them a different book.

If you just search Rewrite, you can see a lot of books that have it.

:blob_neutral: Don't. Never separate novels unless necessary. Keep your sheep together. More chapters. More views. More ratings. More reviews. More favourites.

It all has a cumulative, reciprocal effect if you have a long running series. They strengthen each other to the point where I can sit back and gain readers passively in a reliable way.

well, with the rewrite, I'm looking at correcting grammar, extending it out, and correcting multiple issues, from pacing to spontaneously appearing characters, etc.

with the reorganizing, I'm looking at primarily separating out anything related to my main line series. for instance, I've got a three-shot (one shot trilogy) that introduces and explores a side character from the main series. I'd rather those not be mixed in with the other random standalones, when they should either be separate or mixed into the mainline series.

My mainline series would remain the trilogy it's supposed to be (Lay the Dragon rewrite, DragonBound, and untitled 3rd novel), but with a selection of one-shots included as "side quests", so to speak. basically just reorganizing my current works once my current run story (DragonBound) is completed.
