I can't see why you should choose one or the other. Romance and Fantasy as genres cover wildly different topics and moods, no? If anything, Romance is a subgenre and Fantasy is more generalist

Not only that it's one of the most popular genres around right now. Romantasy books have been printing money ever since Sarah J. Maas hit it big.

They're the same thing.

This may surprise the uninitiated, but real life Romance is very, very, very boring. Fictional Romance is a lot less sitting around talking about nothing, and a lot more romantic dates. Fictional romance is a lot less tedious adulting, and a lot more actually being life partners, etc.

Basically, the romance genre IS fantasy.
