Phew, it's been a while. :blob_whistle_two: I apologise for everyone that's been waiting. SSSC has returned! :blob_party:

What is SSSC?
Scribble Short Story Competition is an unofficial contest for authors and readers to participate! The goal is for you guys to write a short story based on the given prompts. Hopefully, you'll gain experience as well as have fun while writing or reading the short stories. Story submitted will be included in an anthology of all the SSSC.

How do you enter?
To enter the competition all you need to do is post your story on the website like normal. After you've posted the story, go to the story's setting and there should be a contest section, select the SSSC V contest tag and your story will be in the competition!

Rules
  1. Minimum of 2,000 words. Maximum of 8,000 words.
  2. NSFW stories are allowed but must include the corresponding tags and warnings.
  3. New stories only.
  4. Post the story into a single chapter.
  5. Submission period ends on the 31st of October. Voting period ends on the 10th of November at 23:59 (11:59 PM) GMT Timezone.
  6. Readers vote by favouriting the story chapter.
  7. If you don't want your story to be included in the SSSC Anthology, PM me.
  8. You can choose one or more of the 3 prompts but you must at the very least use one of the given prompt.
Prizes
Similar to before, the generous Goddess @Tony has been kind enough to bless a prize onto this unofficial competition. 1st and 2nd place gets Discord Nitro for 1 month.
The winner can also decide on one of the prompts for the next competition!

Related to or use any element from within the image prompt.

Your death saddens me, I was interested in how your story ends.

@Alverost Thank ya for coming back with another contest. This event has before -- and still does -- make me happy. I will participate, but I've lost confidence in how well I can write. Still gonna try, just... I dunno. We'll see how it turns out. :blob_unsure:

I'll give the first prompt a try because it looks like something funny could come up, but I also like the third one. I can easily see that prompt's image represented as a sense of loss like someone reflecting back when they were young and spirited... and maybe foolish? A lot of possibilities with that image. :blob_aww:

The second one... I would have to figure out how to give it a positive spin. I am trying to stop writing stories motivated by melancholy, so I'll be searching for a happy note on that prompt. :blob_sweat:

Can we transfer characters over? Like an existing character from our novels and put them into the story for the prompts?

Sorry for the late reply.

Is it allowed if the short story gets used in a future series (currently non-existant)?
The short story can't be base on an existing story but they can be used for other purposes after your entry. All authors still retain their right for the story. As long as the first time the short story appeared is in this competition.

Character and story should be new to prevent any unfair advantage. So I'm sorry to say you can't transfer characters over.

Do I need to use the same name and location in the 1st Prompt?
The name of the protagonist can be changed but not the location.

Edit: Just to clarify, you can change the graveyard's name as well but it must remain a graveyard.

So for prompt 1, you can't have an Inn called Saint Lyn Graveyard?

Well, the cover of it at least must be a Graveyard. However, what you do with the Graveyard is up to you. It can be an entrance to hell or a secret base or like you suggested a hotel.

Must the 3rd prompt contain the exact same descriptions as shown in the picture (grass field, twin-tail girl, astral short hair girl, etc.) or just the genral atmosphere?

Just the general idea of the picture, it doesn't have to be exact.
