You don't need to worldbuild at all. Just use an interesting setting. No one, except for nerds who are going to disagree with you on everything, cares how much gods there are in your world, or customs of that no-name kinght house. Don't spend your time on this crap, and simply use an interesting setting. Don't write 100k words of worldbuilding for your generic fantasy isekai. Just make it a desert isekai, or underwater isekai, or underground isekai, something different. Think outside the fucking box.

Based. Don’t need to worldbuild if you don’t plan on putting it in the story

Hey, worldbuilder here, and he is my two cents:

I enjoy Worldbuild, because is what I like, and I have more fun adding little details no one but I will pick up on. I am not a writer and don't consider myself as such. Writing a story is a bit of a drag for me, but thinking up a family tree and their history for a frontier barony? Now, that is some quality time right there. And it is a good way to learn too.

Of course, if your main joy is writing a story, then do it. You do not have to worldbuild for a good story, (although I do expect some work on it). The granddaddy of world-building Toiken himself just mostly borrowed the birth registry of Nordic names for his dwarves, and so are some of them concepts too

You have enough of that in your almighty brain.
Also, what Gebel and the others tried to say is:

Be creative. Don't overcomplicate stuff. If you have hardcore readers, then do a complex worldbuilding. If not, don't.

OK, Liberal. :blob_teehee::blob_okay:

I understood the point, but if someone doesn't have enough dragons then what is even the point of writing the story in the first place?

Ok, now seriously. There is a bare minimum of worldbuilding required, but it should support the story you are trying to tell. One can even make up the details as they go, as long as it's built on the foundation and spirit of your story.

This is why a reference/plan/concept map is important to an author. I've long stopped doing detailed worldbuilding because not all ideas can be shown in my story without dragging it too much.

I just write a concept, or plan the settings, then make up the deets as I go along.

As for the plausible plotholes? I check my past releases (editing) to spot mistakes and inconsistencies, before releasing a volume online.
