Three thousand years of lineage, the proud Jarran family boasts the longevity of their blood. Every hardship, every struggle, no one in the Kirrel family is unable to overcome obstacles in their life. They would always find success in their life, success in business or success in their hobby, and would always bring upon the next generation of the Jarran family. All of this, simply because of a jar of pickles.
The first ever Jarran, Avant Jarran, was a man known for his unbreakable fortitude and unshakable persistence. He was seen as barbaric and a knucklehead, but he was firm, strong, and compassionate. Though born privileged and rich, he couldn't become being a smart man like his parents wanted him to be. He was simply too simple. Thus, his family gave him a land in which his trusted servants would run it in place for him. He then married and had children, all of which were the results of his complete devotion and stubbornness for his one and only wife.
Then one day, Avant started training his body. Avant was always seen exercising intensely, day and night. There were no days that he would not be seen training, until he one day stopped. One of his people was curious and asked Avant on why he suddenly stopped, and he replied:
"A jar of pickles. Easy to hold, hard to open. I have opened it."
His follower was confused, but tried his hardest to understand the words of his lord... until it hit him.
It was an analogy. The jar of pickle represented an obstacle every people had to overcome. It was easy to hold and do nothing with it, but hard to open and gain the reward that is the pickles themselves. His lord has opened it. He has overcome his obstacle after training his body for a long time.
Moved by his fortitude and persistence, the person spread his words and popularized it. His people began adapting his words to their everyday life, and eventually reached Avant's children and set it in their hearts. With those very words his descendants would push through adversaries and hurdles to finally gain the reward in the end. Such was the way of the Jarran family.
Even now, the Jarrans never failed to put their family's motto into action; "A jar of pickle is easy to hold, but hard to open". The Jarrans had lived for three thousand years and shall live even more, but they shall never know the truth. The truth that Avant just truly, simply wanted to open a jar of pickles.
