What do you think. Not like I will go through with it either way. :meowsip:

Just how it is worded, and some other things such as formatting, mass email I suspect, too good to be true, etc.

The fact they dropped your full title, including the extra bits like Anti Hero and stuff, is telling enough. Either a bot or some program just yanked the full title and copy pasted without actually reading lol. Also 50-50 is never a good share if you're the one that's writing.

They give you what? Exposure? Cool I guess, but is that really worth 50% of the profits?

This is five years old but:
Bad Contract Alert: EMP Entertainment and A&D Entertainment - Writer Beware

Found a Redit chain that says they are "semi-legit" - they do pay, fairly well, but they are not as free with leaving the rights to you as they claim and there are a few other gotchas - but it is a legit offer, just a shady company apparently.
Ah, I knew something felt off with them. Good thing I don’t sign up for anything. :meowsip:

Some people are desperate enough for that, and that’s what they prey on sadly.

Rule of thumb, if someone contacts you regarding your work, it's because they want something from you that benefits them.

The ONLY one that may benefit you is a literary agent. And if its a valid one, they will say, "I get a portion of the money I make you." Anyone who asks anything up front is stranger danger.

Was nearly contracted by Dreame before, which they included in that email. Their contract is legit, though it is slave-like, with a bit higher monetary compensation than what was offered to me before by QiDian.

'Sides, they want me to convert a story to cater to ladies. As a guy, I don't even know how a female mind works.

Authors are pretty easily exploited. I’ve seen it happen a lot over the years.

Nah, my size resembles Pumba, but I'm not gonna do that hoola shit.

Nevertheless, Anna (that Dreame rep I was in contact with) want me to write stories for ladies, maybe also complete it with covers of half-naked beefy men. Cut off contact from that day on.

As a former literary agent, a few of our main duties were mass marketing proposals, advertising campaigns, book signings, arranging booths, etc.
I don't see anything in the "fine print" that they'll help you do any of these things. They mention helping you set up a paywall to monetize? Where's the publicity in that? If this is all straight digital only, will they offer to help you market the printed books? It doesn't seem like they will.
And they've only been around since 2018...? *^^* And only four years of actually working with authors?

That woulda been awkward as hell if you did go through with it.

Yeah, I noticed those things as well. It is at the surface level that seems good, but when you look a bit further. There is a lot to be skeptical about.

Nah. Rest assured, I may not be a talented author nor a handsome dipshit; but I keep my dignity intact.
Romance is the top selling genre, as questionable as all the themes are. So, I can see why they’d want you to write that.

However, ain’t worth it. :meowsip:

I am a writer of ISEKAI, and HAREM stories. Why the fk would they want me to write something that reverses my genre?

Ah yeah. Mass mails. I got baited before in Wattpad.

Any case, this is the other side of the same scam coin.

I didn't answer the first guy; told the second before I am also an illustrator. But nah, "I won't stop till I scam you."

They are legit. Here is my experience with them:

I go over their contract in the thread here:

I took a deal with a vanity press about 20 years ago, and I've regretted it a long time. My novel went nowhere, hardly any marketing was done, and they really didn't help with publicity at all. Posting it on most of these book sites is useless if they have global website rankings in the millions.

And Facebook Groups are really no help. Sure, you could get into a book authors group, with 20,000 people, but it's usually 20,000 people saying "I wrote a book you must read!" lol. So, you're stuck there.

It's extremely difficult to market or publicize a book if you're in a world of books. You want readers, not authors. No offense to anyone. *^^*
